  1. I would choose someone else. I also would still consider flying in a photographer and having them stay at your resort. It always sounds expensive... but really it's not. You are paying $1100 for 2 hours plus TTD. A flight and three night stay at your hotel for one person is only $1192. Now... yes, it is slightly more. However, then that photographer could also do your wedding coverage, group activities, AND the TTD photos. You would have WAY more coverage, and buying the disc of all the edited photos will probably be a lot cheaper than the resort photographer offers (I honestly don't know the Moon Palace prices, so I can't 100% gaurantee that). So, what I would recommend, is contacting some US photographers that you like. Inquire about destination weddings. I know there are a ton (a lot on this board even) who will do destination weddings simply for the cost of the trip (again, around $1200). You just need to ask!
  2. Yippee! Abbie goes to GBP!!! Alright, here is my help. Just don't forget about having to pee... forgetting something in the room... and that's about it! Basically, I think you'll be fine at Coba. If it's a big price difference, don't worry about it. -has anyone found an aerial view of the ENTIRE resort? everything ive seen is section by section, and id like to get the full picture of how its laid out. Yup. Google Maps has one. If you google the Yucitan it's pretty easy to go up or down the coast and find it. I sent you an e-mail of the screen shot so you kind of know what you are looking for. -also, does anyone know the location of the observation tower? on trip advisor ive seen a few people mention its good to go up early in your trip to get a good idea of the layout of the resort so you dont get lost (haha) and i think thats a great idea, but cant find info on where the tower is. It's near the Hacienda. You'll have to walk a ways to get to it. I didn't ever go up it, but some from my party did and they enjoyed the view. Not sure if it really taught them the "lay of the land" so much as just showed them a pretty view. thanks!!

  4. Oh Nina... you've been blogged! Feel free to see the photos at Faber Photography! Enjoy!!!
  5. Mine too... for the exact same reason as Tammy mentioned!
  6. Welcome! I got married on the Akumal side, however I was legally married there, so no mayan ceremony. but, there is a whole thread of GBP ladies, so hopefully someone can help you out. Otherwise, trust me, as soon as you get to Mexico all of your fears will be put to ease. The WCs are amazing once you are there.
  7. I had full intentions on wearing a veil. It was elbow length and my something borrowed. Sadly, it was WAY too windy and when I took it outside to test it, the silly thing nearly suffocated me! So I went sans veil. I loved it though. I had a flower in my hair and I felt like that was enough.
  8. I have the 1" ice cubes... so basically the same concept. LOVED them!
  9. Shea, that nursery is SO beautiful! Will you come and decorate mine?!?! I LOVE IT!!! So peaceful and girly. Just beautiful. And look at you! You're so adorable! You do NOT look like you gained 48 pounds. and your tummy looks so perfect!
  10. What is with people and such poor customer service? Goodness! I swear, that and manners have QUICKLY gotten away from so many people! Ugh.
  11. Have a wonderful wedding! I can't wait for you to get back and tell us all about it... and of course show off some pictures!
  12. I was legally married down there, all we needed was our passports and our tourist visa. No birth certificate, no apostle... nothing. HOWEVER, neither of us have been married before, so that makes a difference.
  13. Welcome!! I'm a Gran Bahia bride so feel free to ask me any questions you may have! I absolutely loved my wedding!!! Have a great planning experience!
  14. Good morning and welcome to the forum! it sounds like you have a great jump on your wedding planning and so far everything sounds great! As far as bringing vendors with you, yup. I think most people do. It seems that you get more bang for your buck that way. I definitely felt that I did. I flew down my own photographer, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
  15. Welcome to the forum! I don't have much insight on Bermuda... but it makes me want to sing the Beach Boys!
  16. Welcome Jessica! I have heard great things about the Royal so I can't wait for you to book your date and start planning! Best Wishes!!
  17. That dress is awesome!!! I would think that tea length or longer would be best. And then a really nice shade of pink or blue would photograph great on the beach. Strapless would compliment your dress a lot, but of course if your ladies are all different sizes you'd want them to be comfortable. I would also say a dress that has gathering or a sash or something in the middle to compliment yours would be really nice.
  18. Trust me, it'll look awesome together. The ivory will go with anything, but typically looks better on skin than WHITE WHITE... so if anything, it'll look even better!
  19. Beautiful photos! You were a gorgeous bride and your wedding looks just lovely!!!
  20. What about just going somewhere private together? Like take him to that private beach just south of the GBP Akumal Golden Section. It'll be a little bit of a walk, but the beach is AMAZING and none of your guests would be there so it'd be romantic. maybe steal a little snack from the buffet before going and have a little picnic?
  21. I LOVE these dresses! For struggling with dresses that look too much like prom dresses, these look absolutely perfect for a destination wedding!
