  1. I love planning threads! Your dress looks so beautiful! For the hair, I would recommend up, since it'll be out of your face (especially with the wind) and cooler, but do what looks best. It's nice that your cousin's wife will practice with you so you can choose what you like best.
  2. Most brides, from what I have seen, send the photographer with the book before the wedding. Then the photographer can capture his emotions as he opens the book!

  4. Wait, I thought it's not on tonight because of Barack doing something at 7? Am I missing something?
  5. I've sailed with Carnival a bunch of times and I love them. What about doing a 5-7 day cruise from Florida with stops at Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and maybe somewhere else? And then getting married at the Caymans? i've seen a lot of weddings there during our cruises and the island and beaches are just beautiful.
  6. LOL, sounds like you were in the same situation I was! I refused to look at more expensive dresses or dresses that didn't fit a certain style (one that my mother/FI wanted me to have). And I bought it... and I ended up LOATHING it and buying a whole new one!! For the record, I LOVE your second dress! It's really beautiful!!! What about wearing the first one for a TTD or something? Or slipping into that one later on in the evening for dancing?
  7. Honestly, I would go with the 3/4 combo. It's okay to not have the same amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen. if you are concerned about walking down the aisle, maybe the best man and the groom walk down together and then the other three escort the ladies? or one of the guys escorts the mothers down the aisle?
  8. You look so beautiful! And your pictures look like everything went perfect... well, okay the cake is a different story, but at least it's a story! I can't wait to see your pro pictures! i hope you share them with us!!
  9. Hello everyone! It's time for more of Jaime's engagement photos!!! I have posted a bunch on my blog, so I thought I'd share some with all of you. Jaime and Woody are SO adorable! And man, I LOVE Jaime's eyes!!
  10. Welcome! I think I know who you are! I hope you find a lot of great planning information on this site! Let me know if you need anything!
  11. I just have to say that Lily is adorable!!!!! I love that photo! So cute!!! As for finding a photographer, there are plenty out there. Scan this portion of the Riviera Maya threads and you should find a list of photographers. You also have the option of flying your own photographer in and having them stay at your resort and capture more than just the wedding day... instead they will capture the whole wedding week story. So you have plenty of options! Happy shopping!
  12. Welcome to the forum! i have heard a lot about Isla Mujeres weddings so I think you'll be able to find some informatio on this board. Good luck and best of luck with your planning!
  13. I would definitely do the pictures before the ceremony if you are getting married at dusk. That's very smart. I think your timeline looks really good though. My only suggestion is I would definitely have the cocktail hour go until at least 7 and then dinner will go until 8:30. Then you'll have the first dance type stuff that will take you until around 9ish. Then you can have the DJ play until 11:30... but if the party is rockin' ask if he'll play another 30 minutes?
  14. And you thought you were having a boy... ha ha ha! That's so awesome!! Congratulations! And her name is just beautiful!
  15. Morning!! I will answer your questions below. Quote: Originally Posted by Steve&Julia Hi all thanks for your help, well I asked around and the photographers here are asking for $5k - $6K just for the photos (airfare and hotel might run me more than it’s worth) I might have to stick to the photographer out there but will pay for him to stay all day. The packages I saw they offer 70 photos for $1030 wanted to know if the guy was worth it. I would keep asking photographers. There are MANY photographers who will do a destination wedding for the price of travel alone. So depending on when your wedding is, around $2000. So I don't think that 70 photos for $1030 is worth it. I would ask a bunch of the photographers listed on this website. They should be able to help you too. also did you do a reception after the wedding or did you reserve a dinner at a restaurant, I am estimating 50 guest so far and want a DJ as well as a reception. You know to introduce Mr. and Mrs…… but I was wondering if anyone had that and what they can tell me about their experience. I had the private poolside reception after my wedding. We had a buffet dinner and then a DJ and dance. It was AMAZING and everything I had ever wanted. It was so beautiful at night with the stars out and the pool lit up. Not to mention the sound of the ocean right behind us. It was approximately $35-50 pp if I remember correctly. My last question (for now) is do I ask them if they have specific flowers? I would like to do a sunflower or yellow and or purple Calla Lilly flower arrangement for the ceremony but also did they do centerpieces at the tables during your reception. Or is this something I might have to send down or figure out an alternative. If you have your heart set on a certain flower, then YES. Ask them in advance if they have it. I had asked if they could do a bouquet for me and they said $600!!! so i had to change my plans. So ask them and then bring a lot of pictures of what you'd want. The centerpieces were my flower arrangements at the wedding. I paid $40 an arrangement for aisle decoration & the chuppa type item to have bouquets on them. And then they took those, placed a candel in the middle of them and used them as my centerpieces. That was nice since I didn't have to double pay. Thanks in advance. I hope that helps!!
  16. I didn't really trust the front desk people, so I handed them out myself. I would take them to the dinner with me... otherwise if people ran into us at the pool I'd run to my room and grab them and bring them to them (my room was right by the pool).
  17. Yup, just let us know what specific questions you have and we can help you out. As far as photographer, I was not impressed by the resort photographer, so I chose to fly my own in. It worked out amazingly well and since they were a guest at the resort I got pictures from three days instead of just one! It was awesome. i would HIGHLY recommend that. Ceremony - are you planning on getting legally married in Mexico or just have a symbolic ceremony? Flowers - my flowers were everything I had imagined and even more. I LOVED them!! So beautiful and fresh. What are your concerns regarding them? Are you looking for something specific?
  18. I tried to do this, and I really wouldn't. We had guests coming in at all times and it really took away from my vacation. Instead we would have a set time and place to meet for dinner. That way they could get their feet under them at the resort and explore a little during the day, and we weren't help captive at one activity either. It worked out very nicely actually.
  19. Sorry, I didn't see this thread until now. We used the ice cubes as actual ice cubes! So everyone's drinks were illuminated. But i'm sure you could use them in a vase. the only thing is... they are ice cubes, so they float.
  20. I love Universal! with that said, i'm not sure i could spend 5-7 days there... but it's a HONEYMOON! You'll need to time to just be together and relax and have FUN as a couple. so I think Universal is a great choice!
  21. Kelly... are you done with work yet! LOL. I'm so excited to hear what you are having!!!
  22. Honestly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your real dress. It's so beautiful. BUT, if you don't want to "trash" that dress, then, as a photographer, I would pick C. It's very beautiful and not only will catch the wind beautifully and lay gracefully in the sand, but it'll look awesome in the water too.
