I arranged transportation for our guests, but ONLY if they came on the "package" days that I offered. If they chose a different flight then they were on their own. there was no way I could afford a million shuttles! But, everyone really appreciated it (our resort was an hour and a half drive from the airport).

Welcome to the forum! When you first start out this might be a little over whelming, because you will see amazing reviews and photos from resorts you never even thought of... so it can just add on stress for choosing a resort. So, my advice to you is to sit down with your fiance and create a list of what you want out of your wedding such as: - children in attendance - married on a beach - private reception - great food - near local attractions - gazebo vs. natural setting - BUDGET once you get those things all listed then it's a lot easier to go through the resorts and properly pick the one that will be amazing for your wedding! Honestly, I think I gave her the final numbers once we were down there already! I am pretty sure she confirmed my guest list at the meeting three days before the wedding. Prior to that I had told her a rough guesstimate... but that's it.

I really like her, however I really wish they would have chosen someone completely new and end this string of bachelor/bachelorettes. I'm sick of hearing "I know what you went through, I was right there once."

Welcome! I got married on April 11th in Riviera Maya. I can tell you that the weather was absolutely perfect! Easter in April is the 4th, so you might want to consider that. But I think that's more for the Cancun area (spring break) than it is for the Riviera Maya. Did you start checking prices? When I couldn't decide where to get married I price compared. Flying out of Chicago, it was WAY cheaper to go to Riviera Maya than any island, so we decided on the RM so that more guests could come. Perhaps that'd be a great starting point for you?

Welcome!!! I got married on the Akumal side in April. I can't recommend it enough! The weather was GORGEOUS and the ceremony was amazing! We did the legal version, so we did the paperwork and the bloodwork. Super easy. The blood tests are done at the Hacienda (which I'm sure you're familiar with). The nurse was super friendly and VERY good at getting in my rolling veins on the first try. I was beyond impressed. Everything was brand new and sterile. No issues at all. The legal ceremony was alright. It has to be in Spanish and then translated into English. That didn't bother us at all since we were in Mexico, I thought it was kind of cool! Then I added my own sand ceremony which was read by my aunt. It was perfect!! Any other questions, please feel free to ask! I love the GBP and I can't wait to go back!

I would say that if the girls hair is done up nicely and they are carrying flowers... it'll look just perfect. I think they are really casual, but that's part of the fun with getting married on the beach, there are no rules!

yup. Another common one is socks (leaves rings around ankles)... but not very many people wear socks on their BEACH wedding day!

Kimmy I would definitely say that they would be willing to show you around and give you more information. That'd be quite silly if they wouldn't!

That is exactly the type of dress I wish I would have worn. SO adorable!! Just remember, if you are wearing a strapless wedding dress, DO NOT wear a normal bra that day!! You will leave strap marks and that's bad bad bad.

Don't forget travel time. i'm not sure if you're getting ready at the Grand Ole House and having the ceremony and beach pictures taken there. If so, it shouldn't be a problem... Now, how many family and friends will you have at the wedding? 30 minutes isn't too long if you have a large group, or a lot of poses that you want. just keep that in mind.

I did a white flowy tube top type shirt. I wish i would have had a white tube top type dress... but oh well. Anyway, it was easy to slide off my hips so I didn't mess my hair and the white color was great for makeup application.

I did my trash the dress on Saturday morning (we got home after lunch) and we left Monday morning. I wouldn't say it was COMPLETELY dry (due to humidity) but it was dry enough to shove in a garbage bag, which I brought from home, and shove that into my OOT bag supplies empty luggage! I simply gave it a shower and then hung it up in the closet with some towels below it.
