  1. Sadly, I was too sleepy and lazy. My poor husband, no good tricks. However my parents always crack me up! First, my mom has stuffed the tips of our shoes with toilet paper since i can't even remember how long! It's so funny. You put on your shoes and they suddenly don't fit and then you remember it's April fools. That's always a good one. Then her new trick is in the kitchen. They have a sink with a detached sprayer thing. So she takes clear tape or a rubber band and she tapes down the trigger. So in the morning when my dad turns the water on, the sprayer gets him SOAKED! it's hilarious!!! And then my dad's trick on my mom was the stuffed shoes (it's just tradition at this point). But then he went out to her car. He opened the back windows just a little so it'd be annoying on the way into work. He turned the radio all the way up, he turned the wiper blades on high, and he moved her car seat all the way forward. They crack me up!
  2. I will also try and answer what I can Originally Posted by Jananaz Hi ladies, A bunch of questions for ya (sorry, I know this is a long list!): 1) Playa Del Carmen - How far away is Playa Del Carmen? Are there cabs at the resort to take you there, and how much is it each way? Its about 30 minutes or so and yes there are cabs that will take you I am not sure how much though. Yup, 30 minutes. There are cabs, and there are also collectivos. The collectivos drop you off right by 5th Ave and they cost $2 per person each way. 2) Airport Transfer - Any recommendations on airport transfer companies? We can have one included in our package right now for $40 return, but it stops at other resorts along the way. We used American Express it was part of our package we did setup a private transfer (so no stops) and it was $75 for the 2 of us. The van we used to get to the resort held 12 people so if you have a group of 12 you will go directly to ther resort. We used Cancun Valet. It was $165 for a 10 passenger van. It worked out absolutely perfect! Also, when we were there they used a multitude of different transportation to get to the resort. When we arrived there must have been a large amount of people arriving because they had a greyhound bus. From what we heard, it stoped four times before getting to the resort. However, on the way back to the airport, had we not arranged for our own trasnportation we would have had the 12 passenger van mentioned above. 3) Day Trips - Does anyone have a list of excursions that the resort offers? I'm trying to get something like a newsletter out to our guests so they can budget for the trip. Did you have any favorite day trips or ones that you'd recommend not going on? I have a list of excursions on our website you can copy not sure if they are offered by the hotel though I got them from tripadvisor. Jennifer & Kyle - wedding website by mywedding.com My husband and I did Xel-ha, by ourselves though, not through the resort. We really enjoyed that. 4) WC - We were assigned Yuritzia as our coordinator when we booked, but I haven't heard from her at all. I saw that a lot of people had trouble getting a hold of their WCs. We've only been talking to Paloma so far. Am I just supposed to wait until 3 months before our date to hear from Yuritzia? We we able to get a hold of Yuritza from time to time but she really does not respond until around 2-3 months until your wedding. Yup, this is Yuritizia for ya!!! She actually didn't respond to us barely at all, including the three months before the wedding! However, when we got there, she had every single email I had written her and was very organized. If I ever needed immediate assistance or verification of something I had my TA contact her. That seemed to work much better. 5) Custom Maracas - We're thinking of doing custom maracas as a wedding favor. Ajua, a restaurant and wedding planning company in Playa Del Carmen will make them for about $6 each. Are there other places that do custom maracas? We got maracas at the hacienda (sp?) at the resort they were not personalized but they were cheap and they all said Mexico on them. Not sure of anyone who personalizes them. yup, all I know of are the ones at the hacienda, and those aren't customized. 6) Out of Town Bags - We want to do some gift bags for people when they arrive. Those who did them, what did you put in them, did you ship all the stuff to Mexico, or just bring it in your luggage, and did you get the hotel to distribute the for $2 a piece? We gave out bags with our logo on it we put a photo album, postcards, asprin, pepto, info on the local areas, excursions, invite to welcome dinner, pens, note pad, goggles for kids, coloring book, bug wipes. We decided to give the bags to our guests when we first saw them. DO NOT SHIP TO MEXICO!!!! The packages are never promised to get there and there is nothing you can do about it. Definitely pack it in your suitcase. Now, I went a little over board on our OOT bags, so I didn't want to pay the $2 a piece, so I delivered them myself. Whew. Sorry about my ton of questions. I'm still trying to read and catch up on all the info that is on this thread..... there is a lot

    Hi

Congratulations Steph! I love some of the beaches near San Diego. Beautiful sunsets on beautiful beaches!! Your wedding is bound to be gorgeous! best of luck!
  5. I saw these pictures on her blog yesterday and I was blown away. Elizabeth is by far one of my favorite photographers. You are so lucky to have such amazing photos to document your day! And you looked FAB!
  6. Sorry, I do not believe there are any children's pools. Definitely not while I was there. We did have two 1 1/2 year olds with us though, so they loved the activity pool. It has a shallow area which is about 1 1/2 feet deep, so they were able to play in there a lot. They also used the kids club, although we stayed with them. It has a bunch of indoor toys in an air conditioned area, which is just what they needed. It also has a swing set outside.

    Newbie!

Welcome to the forum! My parents have been to Mackinaw Island MANY times and always bring back such beautiful stories and photos. Your wedding should be gorgeous! Sadly, my dad barely has any hair to get done... so I can't help you out on the hair stylist. Sorry!
  8. Welcome to the forum! Dreams Tulum is a very popular resort and from what I can tell a very beautiful one for a wedding! I can't wait to hear more about your plans!
  9. Good Friday everyone!! I'm doing well. Growing, getting kicked, same old same old! I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow! My next appointment is next Friday, so I'll be 25 weeks. I assume I'll come in once more at 29 weeks and then it'll be every two weeks? Wow! That's crazy! i can't believe how quickly time has gone!! This weekend we are starting to work on the nursery, so I am SUPER excited!!!
  10. We did our TTD session at the public beach just down the road from the ruins. It was AMAZING!! basically, we got to the ruins. Then instead of paying and going inside, we headed south down the road. you'll walk a little way and then there will be a few taxis (if you're lucky) they'll drive you just down the road for a small fee $3-5. We probably would have walked, but I was in my wedding dress and getting really hot!! That beach has beautiful boats, the super soft white sand, BLUE water, and a fun little restaurant right on the beach. It's awesome!!
  11. Yeah, our cake wasn't terrible... but it certainly wasn't a TBC cake! Although, the cake we got was free, so I suppose that helped make it taste better too!
  12. Welcome to the forum! I absolutely LOVE Disney World! It's such an amazing place and I seriously would love to go back every 6 months if I could! Where will your ceremony & reception take place?

Yeah, I wonder what they'll say about that. It was actually listed on their website as "Trisha's cake" when it was in the old format. It was amusing to me. And i KNOW they can make the cake (or one very similar to it). They are really brilliant and I have heard WONDERFUL things about their food and their location and I was TOTALLY bummed that I couldn't make it work with my resort. Abbie, I too would highly recommend that you go and check it out!
  14. Elizabeth is an AMAZING photographer!!! As for the list of photographers... I'm pretty sure those are all local photographers

Coba is at least an hour drive from the resort (I think it's more) and then it's HUGE and a lot of walking. You won't return from Coba until late afternoon. Perhaps I'm mistaken Quote: Originally Posted by Turtlewax15 Question here for people who have gotten married already. We are trying to decide on what flavor we want the wedding cake to be. However, some of our guests had some at the END of the reception, and it had gotten not quite as good. But when it was first cut it was delicious!!! They are 15 passenger vans (some smaller) that drive from south of Tulum all the way up past PDC. They cost $2 per person each way and you simply tell them when you want to get off. They are located on the main highway. So if you go to the Hacienda and then out to the road, you'll see them. They are white buses with blue or green stripes on them. And they run constantly, so if you simply stand on the side of the road, they will stop for you.
  16. Just a fair warning, I REALLY wanted to go with Turtle Bay Cafe, however it became a nightmare to deal wtih my resort and the outside vendor issue. HOWEVER, before that nightmare, I was in contact with Turtle Bay Cafe and I had gotten a very reasonable price quote from them. I was very excited to work wtih them! i sent them a picture of exactly the cake that I wanted... and it's listed as Cake 8. That is the EXACT photo that I sent them... NOT of a cake that they made! I just thought you should be warned.
  17. You guys are a great addition to the forum, so welcome! Your work is beautiful and the envy of many brides!
  18. Welcome Kelly! I think that a lot of people have had problems with getting in touch with the wedding coordinators down in Mexico. Everything works a little slower down there, and they do multiple weddings a week so they are very busy. What worked best for me, was having my travel agent contact them. They responded right away to my travel agent.
  19. Welcome to the forum!! When I first joined I too was unengaged. I was SO afraid to post thinking that everyone would make fun of me... but that's not the case! They were all SO welcoming and wonderful and seven months later, I got engaged. And I had a BEAUTIFUL destination wedding, all because of this forum! So welcome, and happy pre planning!
  20. Which part don't you know how to do? How to design your own? Or how to upload the design you already have created somewhere else? Personally, I create everything in Photoshop, but I know a bunch of people have used PowerPoint.
  21. Welcome Jen! You will definitely find a lot of information on this forum for possible wedding locations. Perhaps looking at photos or reviews would be a good place for you to start. best of luck!
