  1. Oh I forgot... SHOES!!! Bring some awesome shoes!!!! Maybe a white button up shirt if your husband has a desk job... or even if you do. We have a dinning room table in our suite which should make for some interesting shots (think the Pretty Woman scene where she buys him the tie...)
  2. Tiffany... could you steal his helmet? I'm picturing a really cute picture of you in black undies and the helmet at your hip. That'd be cute!!!

I actually planned my wedding when there wasn't very many GBP brides or any reviews of the poolside reception, so I had NO idea what to expect. i didn't know if "DJ" meant CD player in their minds, so I actually was very prepared and brought down all of my music. I had enough for the wedding, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. In the end, I didn't need it. It was nice to have a few of our songs though. I basically handed him my CDs, told him which ones NEEDED to be played and then he mixed my music with his music and kept the crowd moving. And yes, he is open to requests... but he might not have the music. To me, there was no need to contact him before I went. He did just fine. However, he didn't announce us or anything. My dad took the mic and did that. Not sure how that was arranged or anything though, it just happened.
  4. I would think it WOULDN'T be the activity pool. I know they don't use that one for the Tulum and Akumal weddings... so I would assume it'd be the same for Coba. But quite honestly, I've never seen a poolside reception at the Coba, so I can't really help. My wedding was scheduled for 1pm and was moved to 3pm the week before we arrived... but really, 2 would be fine. DJ, I used the resort DJ and I loved him. Worked out just perfect and I didn't have to deal with outside vendors. Photographer, well, that's all based on your personal style and budget, so I wish you best of luck! But, as I did with my wedding, I would HIGHLY recommend flying someone in. It was so awesome to have three days of coverage for our event. The pictures are priceless and it ends up to be very cost effective. Beautiful weather... don't worry, it could be the worst storm in the entire world, but when you marry the man of your dreams, it'll feel like the sun has never shone so brightly.
  5. Welcome Misty!! I actually know someone getting married there the very next day! How fun!! Good luck with the planning!
  6. Yes, that price is per hour. And actually I paid $150 in 2008, so for a 2010 wedding, a $20 increase isn't that bad.

    Intro

Welcome Amanda & Chad!!! What a fun way to spend the Thanksgiving break! I hope you have a great time with the planning and I can't wait to hear more about it!
  8. Alright... how'd everything go? I'm worried that we haven't heard anything from you! How was the baby shower? Got photos Mine is this Sunday so I really want to hear all about yours!! How super exciting! Most importantly, how'd the version go? Was it successful? What's the status? And next, how'd the maternity shoot go? Tell me all about it!
  9. Congratulations!!!! That's so exciting!!! Feel free to PM if you have any questions.
  10. Welcome Elvis!! Don't worry, you aren't the only guy on this site. We have a lot of male vendors, but we also have a few awesome grooms who really add a whole lot to the forum and we love!! So, welcome aboard! I personally think it's awesome that you are able to help your fiance out with the planning! Now, Dreams Cabo... gorgeous. Great choice. Who are the two photographers? Is Juan one of them? He's seriously amazing!!
  11. As a photographer, I would highly suggest that you DO NOT use fake tanner. Very rarely is it applied correctly or does it look natural at all. Especially in the harsh lights of Mexico. if you decide to go in a tanning bed, I would go for VERY short periods of time 6-7 minutes and then just go every other day for two weeks. You won't build up much color, but hopefully just enough that with 50 spf you'll be fine in Mexico. Then, even when you DO have a tan built up, LATHER the suntan lotion on while down there. The sun is VERY strong and you can still get very burnt. Make sure to cover areas like your nose and ears very well as these will be seen in every picture and are places that sometimes people don't concentrate on. Oh yes, and I suggest a big floppy hat! I wore one the days leading up to my wedding. It made sure that my scalp didn't get burnt and my face (again, key photograph areas). Plus it kept some of the sun off of my shoulders and kept me cooler as well.
  12. Welcome Kristina!! We've had a few Napa brides and the weddings just turn out spectacular! Good luck with your planning!
  13. You need a Photobucket account. Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Then upload the photo to that. Then it'll give you an IMG code. Simply copy that and paste it into your post, and your photo will appear!
  14. OOOO Disney!!! I love it!!! There are MANY options. Now, there is the getting married in the park option (think EXTREME money), or there are other options. You can get married at the gazebo across the pond from the Magic Kingdom (that's where I've seen a bunch of weddings). It's SO beautiful and you can see the fireworks and everything from right there. So magical. Or you can have a wedding at one of the many walt disney world resorts... and then what a fun group excursion it would be to go to the parks!!! SO many options!! Best of luck!
  15. Welcome!! I got married at the GBP Akumal and I LOVED my wedding!!! It was amazing!! I had the ceremony at the hammock location at 3pm, then I had cocktail hour from 5-7pm, then I had a private outdoor reception by the pool from 7-11. As for photographers, being a photographer myself, I value GREAT photos... so i hired someone from Seattle to come to my wedding. Paying for four nights accomodations and airfare was $2500 and I got three full days worth of photo coverage and all the prints on a DVD with printing rights. In 2008 when I got married, the photographer at the resort was $1,050 for 70 photos (printed, NOT negatives)... RIP OFF!
  16. We have matching rings too!!! Well, kind of. My non diamond ring is a mini version of his (minus the diamonds). I love it, because although it's not my real wedding/engagement ring, it still has meaning.
  17. $2500 for 100 photos!?!??! Wow... that's expensive. But, for what it's worth, I like your signature picture!
  18. Welcome to the forum Tara!!! From what I hear, you have chosen a gorgeous location for your wedding!! I can't wait to hear more about the planning
  19. This thread has some good ideas in it... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11617
  20. I love both dresses... but I do think that the first one might be a little too much clevage for a TTD session. For formal wedding pictures it wouldn't be bad, but when you're moving around so much... yeah, that'd be some interesting photos! But, the second one is gorgeous! So I'd say go with #2!!
  21. I was only engaged for 8 1/2 months, so I wouldn't freak out too much. Just find a date that works well with your mom and hop on it! And my first dress took four months to arrive... but then I hated it. So I ended up ordering a brand new dress the very last week in January for my April wedding!! Now, i completely DO NOT recommend doing that (I had to pay rush alteration fees... $$$), but it just proves that anything can be done.
  22. What a gorgeous place to get married! Look at that water! BEAUTIFUL! And I love your flowers. Very pretty.
  23. What size tiara (do you have a photo?) and what size/type of flower. Also, what style of hair will you be rockin' at the wedding?
  24. OH I'm so glad that you had a good experience! I can't wait to see the end results, I'm sure they are beautiful!!! And only 19 days to go... holy wow! Are you so thrilled/excited/nervous/scared?
  25. Welcome Amber!! It's always fun to see fellow Wisconsin brides escaping the FREEZING cold January weather!!! Please feel free to let me know if you need anything. Happy Planning!
