  1. You pretty much HAVE to book the salon in advance and they won't come to your room. And you must pay day passes for people attending your wedding. Just remember that's only for guests, no outside vendors from Mexico are allowed.
  2. Oh no, you should be able to email the spa directly without need for a wedding coordinator. These are the latest emails I have: Emails: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Coba, Akumal, Tulum
  3. I would just send them an email and ask. Make sure to include pictures of the clip in hair extensions, otherwise they might not quite understand what you're talking about.
  4. She needs to follow all the rules on what amount of equipment she can bring with her. Without a permit, it is limited. She will also have to fill out the visa forms stating she's there for business
  5. You have the option of flying in your own photographer, otherwise your option is Tropic ONE Studio. Their prices are in the official thread.
  6. You definitely need to book in advance. I used them for both and was very happy. I did the mascara myself as I didn't want it too dark and I wanted it to be sanitary, but otherwise they did a good job. It was darker than I'm used to, however my wedding was outside in the bright sun so it was just the right amount, especially for pictures.
  7. I'm not sure there is a restaurant there. There wasn't when I was there last, at least.
  8. Best wishes!! I know it'll be amazing!! If it rains then your wedding will be moved indoors to the bar between the Akumal Lobby and the theater. It's pretty in there with fountains. But typically it'll rain for just a little bit in the mornings (pre sunshine) so hopefully you will be just fine.
  9. Certain things will have to be paid in cash depending on your package so make sure you ask your coordinator. We had to pay the judge and the DJ in cash for our wedding, for example. Otherwise they accept credit. The material was half of whatever came on the spool, so I'd guess about 25-30" wide. The other half of the width of material I cut and used as reception table runners.
  10. No arrangements needed, you have free reign over Akumal, Tulum, and Coba. The SK resort is the only one that's limited.
  11. I think an early wedding sounds fabulous! I know they do ceremonies at 12, you'd have to ask for earlier. The lunch reception, you can probably go super casual and low key and ask for part of the buffet to be reserved for you. Then lots of kids choices for meals and nothing too formal or stuffy. For a group with a lot of kids, I recommend staying in Coba. They have family suites and a children's waterpark. You can then still have your ceremony wherever you'd like. The BBQ private reception is amazing and delicious, but I'm pretty certain that can only be done at night after the normal crowds have died down. With a symbolic it should not be a problem at all to have your friend marry you. Best wishes and it sounds like you're going to have an amazing time!
  12. Welcome back and congratulations!!!! It sounds like your wedding day was fabulous. I'm so glad you had a great time. Thank you for taking the time to post the review. I will link to it in the official thread. Congratulations again!!
  13. They will accept dollars and pesos, both happily. It's Canadian money that they can't do much with.
  14. They are black at the resort, but I think so. Here is also some valuable information from a person on another site: You need a 2 pin adapter if you are coming from the uk. I take a power strip with a 2 pin adapter that plugs into the mains and then has 3 uk style plug sockets so I can charge camera battery , phone and ipad all at the same time . HOWEVER 2 things to be aware of - 1) make sure the socket part that is plugged into the wall is in properly they have a tendency to slip out a bit so that even though they look like they are plugged in they are not making a connection as they have slipped out slightly and therefore are not charging. 2) as the power level is different from the uk ( I think it is 110 or 120 volts as opposed to our 240v ) it will take much longer to achieve a full charge
  15. They are sold in the gift shop and are rather cheap, too. Coming from the US, I've never needed the adapter, but it guess UK does.
  16. The gazebo is very accessible. Here are some pictures to show the concrete path all the way to the gazebo and where a small amount of chairs can go also (they will put more chairs in the sand if you have more guests) I did have a guest in a wheelchair at my wedding at the Akumal hammock location, but it was semi difficult to wheel her down there. They made it happen, but it wasn't easy.
  17. The exception is flying in your own photographer. Almost every resort will allow you to fly in your own and the price is typically more reasonable than you'd expect (and in comparison to resort photographers)
  18. The person who manages the music while you're walking down the aisle will fade out the music appropriately, so you do not have to worry about length of the song. Just pick out something you love
  19. Appreciate, yes. I'm not sure if they expect them... but most people do tip. How much is really based on the tipper.
  20. Sorry for the trouble you're having to go through Heather Your date is a little tricky as it appears the weekend before is sold out (just glancing at Expedia, a travel agent could probably get a room). Here are the two brides getting married near your date sarahlee - 04/04/2014 breena985 - 04/09/2014 - Akumal Looking at my prices (and you'd be able to find other photographers that are similar, I would think) Flying in the 6th and leaving the 11th (fulfilling the 5 night requirement is cheaper by a few dollars than the $400 fee for less than 5 nights), it'd be $2000 for travel and $1000 for all day wedding day coverage. So you could split that with another bride and then each only pay $2000 total. How much is the onsite photographer charging you for the 3 hours?
  21. Could someone please send me the lately flower booklet so I can update the thread? [email protected] Thank you!
  22. I would just ignore their emails, quite frankly. They will show up at your meeting with your wedding coordinator at which time you'll tell her AGAIN that you don't need their services. You'll sign the paper saying that you agreed to not have them there and that should be the end of it. And you're right, I would not give them your photographers information.
