  1. Hi Lisa! Welcome to the forum! St. Lucia is very beautiful! Which resort will you be staying at?

IS IT REALLY THAT EASY? WILL WE HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING EXTRA OR DO ANYTHING EXTRA TO MAKE IT LEGAL IN THE US? Yup! It's REALLY that easy! it's awesome!! It's probably different for people from Cananda, but I'm from Wisconsin and that's all I needed. SUPER easy. And when I got home I didn't need to translate anything. I simply took my spanish wedding certificate to the social security office, got that done. Then I took the proof of that to the DMV and they accepted that. And I just got my new passport, and they too had no problems!
  3. Welcome to the forum Jasmin! you should find plenty of information on all three of those resorts, including reviews and photos! That should help you narrow down your search. Best wishes!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum Alejandra! I was actually going to say exactly what TammyB said! This forum is an amazing resource for all destination wedding brides, but it truly is the ultimate resource for Cabo weddings. There are so many different reviews and photos on this site. It's amazing! What kind of a wedding do you invision in your head? is it in a gazebo, on the beach? In a large resort or a small resort? All inclusive? Do you want children? All of these questions can help lead you to the perfect wedding! Best wishes!
  5. Welcome! Just as the posters above have mentioned, check out the Jamaica threads. I'm sure you'll find great places to get married in Montego Bay! Best wishes and happy planning!
  6. Welcome Hillary! This site actually started as a Cabo wedding site, so you will find SOO much information on your destination! Which resort are you having your wedding at? Tell us some details!
  7. Welcome Carla!! Congratulations on your engagement! That's so exciting! Off the top of my head, I instantly think Las Caletas when I read your write up. It's very intimate and I think it can hold the amount of people you'd be looking at having. Plus, it's close to San Diego so I think it'd be a reasonable destination for your guests to attend. Many brides have posted reviews and it's breath taking. Type Las Caletas in the search bar and you'll find all kinds of information! Best wishes and congratulations again!
  8. AH! i can't believe you guys are getting married so soon!!!!! I cannot wait to hear all about it and see all of your beautiful pictures. Ah, memories! I hope you all have as fantastic of a day as I had. remember not to stress and just enjoy every minute of it!
  9. I was totally thinking the same thing too Tammy!! I loved reading the responses. It's like the original clan that I remember so vividly from when I joined. And look at Sarah's response! How sweet and so helpful!
  10. Holy crap! Two years already? Time flys by doesn't it? Oh gosh... that means I'm coming up on my THREE year anniversary!!! WOW!
  11. Yeah, I think there is one ala carte per resort. In the Akumal section it's the ala carte (italian I'm pretty sure) that's right above the activity pool. It was awesome because we had a golden club room, so the breakfast buffet was just steps from our room! And then we could also grab our choice of lounge chairs while we were at it. Worked out awesome!
  12. I think the way that you have it planned would be very nice for you and your guests. And getting back in time to greet them is a great excuse to not stay out too late and be tired for your big day!
  13. I vote for leaving it down and then busteling it afterwards when the pictures won't be of your hinder. During the ceremony you'll definitely be able to see "humpback" if it truly looks like that.
  14. Your dress is so ridiculously gorgeous! I LOVE it!!! And your FI looks pretty darn schnazy himself! Oh yes, and i love the wine glasses you had made for the mothers. Very creative and super cute!!

    Hi All!!

Congratulations on your recent engagement! That's really exciting!!! this forum will definitely come in handy for you. I would make a list of everything you want from your wedding and then start to narrow down locations that way. Best wishes!
  16. I would definitely say at least an hour and a half if you want pictures of the two of you before the ceremony. That gives enough time for her to take pictures of you getting in your dress, and then for a few couples shots before the ceremony. Remember that you'll probably want a few minutes to prep before the ceremony begins. You'll probably get warm during photos so you'll want to blot and cool down before walking down the aisle.
  17. That's awesome that your friend had such a wonderful time. I must echo her comments on the buffet too. I mean, I'm pretty easy to please, but there were SOOO many choices! It was AWESOME! So good. I loved eating there. Even their breakfast buffet was phenomenal. However, I suggest finding out which ala carte offers breakfast and eating there instead. It's still buffet, and has fewer options, but it's MUCH less crowded and the service is spectacular in these!
  18. These post card save the dates are SUPER cute!! That's sad about the postage, but nobody will even notice. And it's much better to have large adorable pictures of you guys anyways!
  19. I would just like to say that I seriously laughed out loud at the "sell me on the black market" comment. That cracks me up, but I think the same way! My husband actually gets all nervous every time I do a BD marathon in another city because he's convinced that I'll get hacked up into pieces and shoved in the walls! he's silly! But in answer to your question, a lot of photographers won't advertise that they do BD photos, especially if they take a lot of family photos. Not every family wants to go onto a photographers website and see too much (if ya know what i mean!). So perhaps just ask a few. Plus, the photographer doesn't have to be from the NYC area. If you get enough people together, most photographers will do a marathon in any city. Good luck!

Welcome!! Both Akumal and Tulum are amazing locations! I would say akumal is closer to town and Tulum is more rustic... but either would be an amazing choice! What resorts are you thinking?
  21. Alright, so it looks like I'm photographing a wedding at Sandals Negril, so the more info as you can bring back, the better!!
  22. I have not heard of anything similar to Las Caletas in the Riviera Maya... however Xcaret actually has a really awesome reception package and it reminds me slightly of Las Caletas.
  23. Oh yeah, the pictures that they show are just terrible, IMHO anyway. So I brought down inspiration pictures of flowers that I wanted which used the same flowers I had seen in the photos, but designed much prettier. These actually turned out EXACTLY like what I had in mind. I was so pleased!
  24. Yup, you can totally get bouquets for around $30 from the resort! I did!! I spent $140 on 4 bridesmaid bouquets. So mine were $35 each. I did roses with green hydrangeas in the middle of them. Here is a picture
