  1. Best wishes for a wonderful wedding Sue! I cannot wait to hear all about it!
  2. Easter is in April in 2011 so it will probably be really expensive (spring break and the such) so you might want to try March or May.
  3. Blindside!!!! AMAZING movie and will leave you feeling good.
  4. For my wedding we had two 18 month old little girls with us. In the end, the parents decided to NOT bring along car seats. It was just too much. We were able to get car seats in our transfer vans, however. We simply called them and asked. Because we called, they specifically gave us a van that had seat belts. The other van (we had two of them) did NOT have seat belts. Also, carrying the car seat through an airport is VERY difficult. You will have a lot of luggage the way it is and need to keep a constant hand on your daughter as well. Adding the akwardness of a carseat might make things really hard for you. Just another thought.
  5. These sessions are so much fun. The biggest advice is to loosen up. So if that means, bringing your BFF with so that you guys can giggle, or drinking a glass of wine, just do it! I've had brides do shots before the session and it started at 10am!!! Next, accessories! The veil and long necklace are great ideas. I've also had brides bring along footballs, helmets (motorcycle), fun pillows, etc. Some other fun ideas are a karma sutra book, a "look" (such as a catholic school teacher with Brittany Spears short skirt, tied white belly shirt, glasses, a ruler, and a book), red lipstick to write on a mirror with (or kiss), and bubble bath.
  6. Welcome to the site Elizabeth! Hopefully from reading reviews and talking with other destination brides you can decide if it's right for you and your fiance. I did get married at the Gran Bahia and it was AMAZING and I would HIGHLY recommend it. However, I do know that a destination wedding isn't for everyone. Best wishes!
  7. Welcome to the forum Shark! Where in Mexico will you be getting married? That information will help with vendors. As far as gift bags, here is a GREAT thread to start with! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...m_medium=email
  8. There are golf carts that will take you places, however they only run on the outskirts of the hotel and there is only one Not sure. But you might have to wait a little bit.
  9. Welcome to the forum Nikki! And congratulations on marrying your high school sweetheart! What a sweet story. I LOVE Carnival cruises! They are so much fun, especially with a large group. How awesome! Best wishes and good luck with all of your planning!
  10. Welcome to the forum Lauren! On a snowy day like today you are probably LOVING the thought of a destination wedding! Very awesome. As far as destinationweddings.com, I believe there are several reviews on them. I did a search and here are just two posts: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...85/#post916168 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...8/#post1059417
  11. When we were there, I was upgraded. The bride got ready in a normal room however. I will say, it was a lot smaller than our room, and I did offer our room to get ready in instead. However, it worked just fine. The big difference is the seating area and the bathroom. Our bathroom was larger and had a sliding window so you could get natural light in there (for putting on makeup and such, but also so everyone can be part of the getting ready process). So, do you have to upgrade, definitely not. Was it larger... yes. If you have a large bridal party, then I'd seriously consider it. But if it's a lot more expensive, it might not be worth it.

  13. You guys are welcome! My name is Trisha by the way, in case you'd rather use that. But just like Keira said, this forum helped me plan my wedding and I am forever greatful for all the advice and friendships I have made here, so I will give back! I'm glad you find my being here as helpful.
  14. Now, I was married almost two years ago already (WOW< time flies). But, I was told the civil ceremony needs to be read exactly. So we were not allowed to read our own vows during the ceremony. We could do it after the ceremony, but that seemed stupid to me, so we didn't. The sand ceremony was held after our first kiss. That was a little weird to me too, but I really wanted that done. So we had our first kiss, then my aunt read the sand ceremony and we did the dumping. Then we kissed again and walked down the aisle. As for music, yes, I brought 5 songs. I had a song to walk down the aisle to (two actually, one for bridesmaids & one for me) Then I had a song for the signing of documents Then I had a song for my sand ceremony Then I had a recessional song.
  15. Very pretty dresses! These will look really pretty in the breezes of Jamaica!
  16. I really like this idea. What do you think about them walking you to the aisle, giving you a kiss on your cheek, and then them walking to their seats while you pause. Then when they sit down, you proceed down the aisle to your future husband. It's just a thought. I know you had it planned the other way, but again, just a thought. I think it'd work much better for photos.
  17. Welcome Hannah! Your engagement story is SO awesome. He did such a great job with that surprise. What a fella! As for your locations, I know LC is VERY popular with brides on this forum and so amazing. I think you'd love it. However, really, either would be amazing.
  18. Welcome to the forum! I too have a gluten allergy. How funny! I didn't really think much about it, I just avoided the foods that I couldn't eat. But, my allergy isn't that bad. My tummy just bloats out to about 5 month pregnant (not an exaggeration either, I have pictures of my tummy when I WAS pregnant to prove it!). Anyway, welcome to the forum. I hope you are able to find a lot of helpful information.
  19. I've only photographed at one Riviera Maya wedding so far (a few more planned for this year though!). And that was at the Grand Rivier Princess resort. I posted some photos of the resort in the thread for that resort, so feel free to take a look! From my perspective as a photographer, it was really great. There were SOOOO many places to take photos. Very beautiful resort and lots of opportunity. The beach wedding location is a little tight, but you still end up with beautiful photos with the water behind you. I also enjoyed the wood path leading the way to the ceremony. I thought it was special. Next, I would recommend my wedding resort, simply because I loved it and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to photograph a wedding there. So the Gran Bahia Principe. Akumal has a WONDERFUL wedding location that is great because as a photographer you don't have to compromise your photographs to try and get bikini clad people out of your clients pictures. And finally, I've never photographed a wedding there, but i have photographed a trash the dress session on the beaches of Tulum, and from what I've seen of a very recent wedding at this resort, it's unique and gorgeous. It's the Blue Tulum resort. VERY beautiful.
  20. Terrra, I would definitely recommend calling (actually, having your travel agent call). You can also email Paloma... but sadly I don't have her email any more. I'm sure one of the ladies on here can help you.
  21. Welcome to the forum! Tulum is AMAZING! I just did a trash the dress session there and there really isn't a more beautiful beach. So gorgeous. Best of luck finding everything you need!

  24. Congratulations on your Christmas engagement!!! my suggestion would be to tell your guests when and where... and then give them an approximate cost. Then when it gets closer and real prices come out, send an update and booking instructions.
