  1. Congrats Jo!!! I didn't really feel anything different until around 6 or 7 weeks. Just give it some time. And don't worry about the 8-10 weeks for the doctor, that's actually very typical. Unless you have an issue, then they'll see you earlier. But in the meantime, just rest a bunch and make sure to eat healthy!
  2. Welcome to the forum! Akumal is such a beautiful location in mexico. I absolutely loved it there. And I think it's awesome that you're renting a villa and making it your own! What do you have planned so far?
  3. I was just going to link to that! I was asked to put some of my photos on there. Flickr is a great place to look for photos!
  4. Hmmm... could it possibly be Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing It's not just for photographers, but you can definitely type in a place and get results... for instance I typed in Moon Palace and bunch of pictures from the resort came up.
  5. Okay, I will warn against the white board. It does sound like a great idea... but it also tells people that you are NOT in your room. So I think that just leaves your room more available for bad things to happen. I wouldn't recommend that. As for meeting up with people, we had walkie-talkies. The tiny ones from Walmart. They worked great. It was so nice because my husband would sleep in every morning and then go for a run on the beach. Where as I was up by 7 and ready to eat breakfast. So it was lovely to just turn on my radio and see if anyone else had theirs on and were eating. Every morning we'd find each other via the radios. It worked out great!
  6. That's so awesome! It sounds very similar to my engagement story!!! How fun is that
  7. Welcome to the forum Sara!! There are SO many amazing places to get married in the Riviera. Toes in the sand is bound to happen at hundreds of places. What else are you thinking? Large resort? Boutique resort? All-inclusive? Kids allowed? White beaches? Lots of activities? Asking yourself these questions will help narrow down your search! Good luck!!
  8. Congratulations on your engagement!!! Like you said, there is a ton of information on all of those resorts on this forum, so that's a good start. But maybe you should look at airfare for your guests maybe it's a lot cheaper to fly to Cancun than it is to fly to DR? And if your guest list is that big, perhaps it could be a factor that helps you narrow it down.
  9. I agree that the back on the first dress is just beautiful, but I think overall number 2 looks better. It also feels more young and fun.
  10. Meaning that spending $2500 is too much Sorry, that sentence just confused me a little. But, if $2500 IS your budget, then it should be doable to fly someone in. I just took a major airport, so Chicago in this case. Travel for two people (most photographers require at least an assistant to go with them) is only $1100. Pay the fee on top of that, and you're right around $2500 for a bunch of photographers. Plus, you will get MORE than 6-8 hours of coverage. Instead you'll get coverage the day before, your wedding day, and a trash the dress the next day (if you want, of course). And most photographers packages will include the full resolution disc of images or some amazing prints. I'd look into that.
  11. There are several photographers on this forum. I would try talking to them. Elizabeth Medina is my FAVORITE in the Riviera Maya area, but there is also the idea of flying down your own photographer. The price tends to be about the same, but you typically get more bang for your buck. For instance, when I got married, I could have paid $2,500 for 3-5 hours of coverage from one of the wonderful photographers down in Meixco OR, I could pay to fly my own photographer in for $2500 and get THREE days worth of coverage and over 1000 photos! There are a ton of photographers on this forum who live in the states who are more than willing to travel to photograph your wedding!
  12. It sounds like you have a good list that you're working off of. Just remember, your wedding photos are an investment and they will be worth every penny!!
  13. Welcome Jen! January is going to be an awesome month to go some place warm!!! Congratulations and best wishes!
  14. Welcome to the forum Nikki! I was just in Montego Bay in November of 2009 and it was a beautiful time of year!

    Hi

Weclome to the forum and congratulations on your engagement!! There is a ton of information on Jamaica here, so I hope you find what you're looking for.
  16. Welcome to the forum Jaime! All four of the resorts that you have chosen are fantastic. And your TA is correct, Riviera Maya is less hustle and bustle and I think even more beautiful than Cancun.
  17. Hi Leslie! You don't need points to post pictures. You just need to host them through Photobucket. Then click on the IMG code and past that into your thread. Should work. But thanks for the review and congratulations!

We are getting married Nov 18, 2010 and are still trying to decide between Akumal and Tulum - basically it is down to which one is cheaper Tulum is typically cheaper as it is the oldest of the resorts. It also doesn't have very many suites. So unfortunately I have heard that there is no longer outside photographers allowed at the resort but I can't seem to find any information as to whether Conrado Gonzalez is still the resort photographer? I am curious what kind of experience the previous brides had with the resort photographer? Conrado is no longer the photographer I asked Claudia Rodriguez to be our photographer prior to finding this out and offered to check her in so we could still use her, she said that she was not willing to go against resort policy. Any suggestions? I would HIGHLY suggest you bring your own photographer. Fly them down and have them stay at the resort as your guest. This is still an option and will give you the most bang for your buck. It sounds expensive, but I promise you, it's not. Wedding photos are an investment and will be all that you have to show people of your wedding day. It's really not a place to cut corners or to pay $1000 to get less than 50 photos from an undertrained resort photographer. PLUS, if you fly in your own photographer you'll typically get up to three days of coverage and the full resolution disc of all the images. Also, did anyone have live music for their ceremony? What did you think? Would you change anything? I did not. I had it for the cocktail hour, however I believe the price is the same. I want to say it was around $500 They were very good though, and my guests loved them! haha. I know this is a lot. Can't wait to get to know you all Angelina I hope that helps Angelina! Oh yes, and myself and all my bridesmaids got our hair done at the spa and they all turned out just lovely. They have weird ways of doing the hair, I will promise you that, but in the end it looked just like the photos and stayed in all day.
  19. If you want white sand and crystal clear blue water, you'll have to go as far south as you can. Think southern Tulum. Further north and the water has a lot of coral (which is NOT a bad thing) but the sand isn't nice powder.
  20. Don't worry Margie, the baby will come. You're 37 weeks this week right? That is just now considered full term, so you really don't want that beautiful baby coming out yet! The poor thing would be suseptible to call kinds of stuff, so it might as well stay baking for a few more days!
  21. Welcome Erin (& Brian)! This forum will be of SO much help to you. Best wishes in planning your dream wedding!!
  22. What a wonderful friend you are!!! And how sad that she is moving 6 states away from you. Vegas is so fun! A good friend of mine got married there and it was awesome! Best of luck with the planning of her wedding!
