  1. I'm going to have to debate some of your CONS for the GBP. I agree, it has cons... however I don't agree with the ones you have listed. Make sure ur guests stay within the same area, from GBP Coba to GBP Tulum, u have to take 2-3 shuttle trains. This is VERY true. It's a huge resort. None of us got lost... but it is huge! - NO AC in some resto. This is true, as most of them are open air dining. So they have HUGE windows that they open up to let the beautiful tropical air come in. - Sometimes, they host wedding reception next to the pool, so...be aware if ur room is next to the pool TRUTH! However the pool receptions (when I had my wedding... next to the pool) are not allowed to go past 10:30. Also, in the Akumal section there are only 2-3 blocks of rooms which are any where near the pool that they have receptions by - VERY FAR from Playa Del Carmen and everything! I didn't think so. Very many people from our group took the Collectivo to Playa and it was 20 minutes away. It's also less than that to Akumal which is a great place to visit. And of course it's only a few minutes from Xelha and Tulum. So it's very close if you are going to do any excursions.

I'm sure Matt is going to be getting his really soon! Margie, congratulations! He is just adorable! I love the picture of him in his bed looking over. So cute!
  3. That dress is GORGEOUS on you, even when you're talking Such a great choice!
  4. When I got married the Arelquin was NOT an option. As for makeup, yes, I got my makeup done there. i DON'T wear makeup, but I knew that for pictures I needed it. So I sucked it up. I had a picture with me, as did my sister. We laughed pretty hard because neither of our pictures looked anything alike... but she applied the same makeup the same way! LOL!! We both looked very pretty, I thought. But, I didn't let her put eye liner on me (as a non wedding wearer, that's just too much for me), and I brought my OWN mascara... cause that's gross.
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the forum Mandy!! February is definitely a great month to get out of Chicago! Your guests will certainly appreciate that!
  6. Welcome to the forum! I love your attitude and that you will marry on the beach, rain or shine! LOVE that!! Congratulations and best wishes!
  7. Well, when you get there, head straight to the beach. Going north, so you'll turn right, I know there were some huts with people selling stuff. You'll have to walk a little ways though, so make sure it's okay with your B&G. But the bright colors from the ladie's hut on the beach would be beautiful in photos.
  8. It was funny, when they brought us a new shuttle van, we ALL put our seat belts on. And then laughed about it. (ps, it totally sucks to get in an accident in Mexico... we waited for about two hours in the dark... from 11pm to 1am...). But when I got picked up from the resort to go home the next day (yes, that's right... booo). Anyway, when I got picked up I immediately buckled up and everyone looked at me like i was NUTS!!! i had to explain the story to them, at which point they too buckled up.
  9. Isn't it crazy how we wear our seat belts religiously here and then when we're on vacation we don't even bat an eye at it?
  10. LOL. Good luck! If you travel further, then you'll definitely find that. It's where I recommend my brides do TTD sessions... but it's a good hour away. The area near Playa is just too commercialized. I do know there are some ruins near there that are not restricted like the ones in Tulum. However, I could not tell you where they are. How far in advance will you be flying out there? You could do some exploring up and down the coast and you'll probably find what you're looking for.
  11. Hi Mark! I too was there in November. The resort is really nice and has a LOT of photo opportunities. The resort is huge though. It takes awhile to walk from one end to the other. So having an assistant will definitely be a good thing. As for offsite locations, that's going to be tougher within the driving range that you posted. 15-20 minutes will get you to Playa Del Carmen... which is awesome. However depending on what time of day you go it'd be crowded.
  12. Good morning ladies. I'm writing this just as a reminder to be safe. I was just in Mexico last week and for some reason, whenever I'm NOT in America and on shuttle vans I never wear my seat belt. It appeared that nobody in my shuttle van did. Some vans don't even have seat belts! BUT, if your van has seat belts, PLEASE put them on! As we left the Cancun airport on our way to fun and sun, we got into a car accident. Nobody in our van was wearing seat belts, but thankfully nobody was badly hurt. Accidents can happen at any time, including when you're on vacation. So please, buckle up!
  13. Welcome to the forum! I just got back from the Barcelo Palace and it is a BEAUTIFUL property! Your wedding is going to be so much fun! Best wishes!
  14. I have a wedding dress for sale: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ss-sale-14366/ It's size 8... but I am a size 4-6 in real life. The photos are no longer in my photobucket account, but if you're interested just send me a PM with your email address and I can send them to you.
  15. No pleats!! Definitely makes it look "poofy" in the crotch region... not flattering.
  16. Congratulations on your recent engagement and welcome to the forum. Sadly, I don't know much about Aruba except for it is supposed to be absolutely amazing!! Enjoy your time here! Best wishes!
  17. My advice would be to pack me in your suitcase!!!! DANG!!! Congratulations!! I hear that Fiji is simply amazing!!

That is why people hire photographers from the states and fly them in. Basically, you find a photographer that shoots your STYLE and fly them in. A photographer can't change their artistic eye or their post processing skills. They can "try" to, but their style is their style. Now, you can always show them some posing ideas and things like that, but sometimes photographers don't do well with certain poses if it isn't their typical style of photographing. So what I would suggest is do a ton of research. Price everything out. Perhaps it's cheaper than you think to fly someone in? Perhaps you can find a bride who's wedding date is very close to yours and you can split the cost of a photographer? good luck!
  19. Okay, I ran into an issue like this when I got married. I'm from Wisconsin, so perhaps it's different, however, it sounds the same. When I called the court house, they told me the same thing. However, after speaking with someone else, I learned that what she MEANT to get across to me was that they don't file a copy of the marriage certifiate with the state. So, unlike normal couples who get married in Wisconsin, I could not file my certifiate or call them up and ask for a new marriage certificate. I'm definitely still married, but since i was not married in Wisconsin, it is not in their records. However there was NO issue with the social security office or the DMV.
  20. When I got married I paid $2500 to fly my photographer in for three nights, three days of coverage, and over 1000 pictures.
  21. I actually have a blue tank top with beach bride written on it in crystals and there is a palm tree as well. it's a medium, but small... so I'd say it's more a small. But if someone wants it, they are more then welcome to have it! Just pay shipping!

Other than that, she's just slimey. But every baby handles teething differently. I have heard good things about those tablets.
  23. Not ignorance, most people don't know. I work in insurance... homeowners actually... so I sometimes just speak the lingo without thinking. Perils are the things that could happen. Ie: fire, theft, flood. A lot of policies don't cover things like simply losing your ring. You'll just want to speak with your agent and make sure that you're covered. I would say the odds are much greater that you will take your ring off and lose it than it will be swept away in a flood.
