  1. So how did both of your showers/bachelorette parties go? Any pictures?
  2. It's pretty typical that I will photograph for 8-10 hours. That usually will cover everything 11 am - makeup/hair 12:30 - lunch 1 pm - get dressed/bridal portraits/groomsmen portraits 2 pm - ceremony 2:30 pm - large group pictures 3 pm - bridal party photos 4 pm - bride & groom photos 5 pm - cocktail hour 6 pm - dinner 7:30 pm - toats/cake cut 8 pm - first dance You can see how time quickly gets away from you. And the getting ready process usually takes longer than expected (hair/makeup/dress/accessories/portraits)
  3. Sadly, when I'm there photographing a wedding everything goes too quickly! I did go to two restaurants though. They were right next to each other and shared the same check in place. I believe they were on the sunset side, upstairs, to the south of the center bar area.... if that helps! And then the wedding dinner was the fon du place... but that's not what we ate.
  4. I joined this site in what, January? February of 2007? Had my wedding basically completely planned... and finally got engaged in August!! So you're not alone!
  5. Been there! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...s-drama-13661/ The bridal store i ordered my first dress was in the process of going under. It was one of the most stressful situations ever. But the good thing was that I was able to get a bridal store who contacted the designer. And since I was rack size, the designer had them and I was able to get it in time. HOPEFULLY you will have similar success! Good luck!
  6. Your pictures are beautiful and you were a gorgeous bride! I left a comment for you. Good luck!
  7. I just photographed a wedding there in November. The beach location was actually right next to the gazebo. But I agree, if you're in the gazebo then perhaps the lookie loos wouldn't be as noticable?? The wedding then had their reception in one of the normal ala carte restaurants. It was actually quite private I thought. They had a little area for them and yes, there were other people in the restaurant, but you never really noticed. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
  8. Just a thought, but did you think about maybe bringing a photographer with you? I just quickly did some pricing and it looks like to fly two people down to San Diego from Minneapolis and stay in a hotel would be anywhere from $700-$1,000. Perhaps you could talk to some local photographers and see if they'd be willing to lower their costs for a beach wedding? And then maybe you could also do some day after photographs on the beach the next day? Or at the farris wheel or something fun!!
  9. We skipped the rehearsal dinner with our bridal party and just did the welcome dinner with everyone. I mean, we didn't actually get to practice the wedding, so it was kind of silly to have a dinner to practice
  10. Welcome to the forum Jodi!! Which cruise are you thinking of going on? I have been on many, and with planning a wedding at one of the stops you have to be careful. If the weather is bad then they won't port at some docks. Especially if you have to be tendered in. So make sure you double check that. All inclusives obviously you don't have that problem, but part of the fun with a cruise is getting to go to so many different places! Either way, I'm positive you'll find exactly what you're looking for and have a dream wedding! Best wishes!
  11. I think fans are pretty and not very often used. Not to mention how hot it gets, so they are practical too!
  12. Welcome to the forum Laura! The Barcelo properties are BEAUTIFUL!!! Was just there last month and it was a gorgeous wedding. So definitely a good choice!! Best wishes
  13. I personally love Melissa Koehler, but she starts higher than that. But great pictures are worth it. http://www.melissakoehlerphotography.com/
  14. Welcome to the forum! This place is great and will certainly help you out in your wedding plans. I've been to the Barcelo and it was amazing, but I have heard great things about the others. You are really lucky that you'll get to go and do a site visit of them all. That should surely help you out! Best Wishes!
  15. I definitely would say it's optional. I did one the morning of my wedding. We all met for brunch in the buffet. It was nice to get together and joke around a little before we got all dressed up.
  16. If the majority of your guests are arriving on Saturday, I'd do your bridal brunch on Sunday. And then I'd recommend doing a rehersal dinner or a welcome dinner. One or the other and give the other night to your guests to have dinner on their own or with you if they so choose. Just my opinion.
  17. For my wedding I had light up ice cubes. Since my reception was outside by the pool, it was AMAZING! We had so much fun! And the bartenders all loved them and at the end of the night they asked if they could take them home!!
  18. Oh Erica you are SO close!!! You must be so excited! Any last minute details that you're finishing up? Are you going to post a planning thread before you leave?
  19. That dress is SO unique and awesome!!! You are going to look stunning in that! Now you need to go and try it on and sneak a picture for us!!!
  20. For those who wanted to see more pictures: Leigh Miller Photography And YES! I miss Leigh terribly!
