  1. It is illegal, so I would say NO, it's not worth it. You will not be allowed onto the property. If you are caught inside in your wedding dress, you will be escorted out... and, they will take the photographers discs of images away. You will also most likely receive a lovely fine. It stinks, as the ruins are GORGEOUS. But it makes sense. It's their culture (the Mayans) and you can't really mess with that. There are some ruins which are just randomly spattered across the coast. Since those aren't government property, you can use those. However, without having a native or knowledgable photographer... they are very hard to find.
  2. Congratulations on finding a photographer!!! I knew you would You just have to search around a little
  3. I honestly am very thankful that I paid a lot of money to get my dress cleaned and preserved... because they I cannot take it out of the box! I LOVE my dress. To this day (2 years later) I still love it! I would try it on all the time... and more than likely take pictures in it again too if it weren't cleaned and stored away!
  4. Beautiful dress! And great choice on the resort! Two HUGE things to cross off your list! How awesome is that?
  5. I definitely would choose St. Thomas. The cruise is awesome and the beaches are amazing!!! And less touristy crowded like Cozumel.
  6. This photographer isn't IN Punta Cana, but she's shot two weddings there recently and does amazing work! She's a member on this forum... Melissa Green Photography | Utah Wedding Photography, Boudoir and Modern Photojournalist
  7. Welcome to the forum! That's a crazy amount of people for a destination wedding. That is going to be SO much fun! How exciting. And the Royal is an absolutely beautiful resort. Congratulations!
  8. Hi Mandy! This is the link that will help you the most: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...rincess-33008/ Plus, you've already been to the resort, so you know how gorgeous it is! That helps too!
  9. Del Sol is amazing! And they are part of this forum, so I'm sure they'd love if you contacted them directly
  10. Martin, are you doing anything exciting for Matthew's birthday party? I seriously can't believe that our little peanuts are almost ONE!!! How crazy!?!?! We're having a pool party for Kora. so we'll see how that goes!
  11. I photographed a wedding at that resort the same week last year. My biggest advice... BUG SPRAY!!!! They are sneaky little devils at that time of year. As soon as the sun starts to go down they come out. It's not a problem at all if you have bug spray though. I recommend the kind that is mixed with sun screen. We all used it (bride & bridesmaids included) during the wedding and it was awesome. Kept the bugs away and also made sure nobody got sunburnt!
  12. Photographers cannot PM you. You will have to contact them. But if you go to the vendor market place you'll see a ton of them listed and you can start contacting them from there. OR, look at photographers who are local to you. You'd be surprised at the amount of them that would love to add a destination wedding to their portfolio.
  13. I honestly wouldn't go with a photographer who hasn't shot a wedding. With that said, everyone has to start somewhere... but still. From the US it looks like travel to your destination would be around the $1500 mark. obviously that changes based on depature city... but still. $1500 for two people for three nights (December 17-20) So, I would search around. Hopefully you can either fly a photographer in for just the cost of travel (someone wants to increase their portfolio) or that will do it for $500. I think if you talked to some of the photographers on the forum you'd be surprised at how many would be willing to do that.
  14. A lot of people travel while pregnant, and honestly, it's probably even safer because you aren't drinking the pretty mixed drinks with the water and ice cubes. Just drink the bottled water that comes in your room safe and you should be good. How far along are you?
  15. Congratulations Shea!! That's so exciting to hear! How is Jada doing? Getting big! I personally like Kendra, then Mya, then Jenna. I like Jada and Kendra together.
  16. And now i missed your post!!! Probably just ladies... personally, since my hubby will have to stay home with the baby! But if we wanted to do guys too then I can call on grandma!
  17. Totally enough time! I got engaged in August and got married in April. I didn't have to make any compromises because of my short engagement. I got exactly what I wanted. You should be fine, especially with a winter wedding. April/May book out quickest (from what I gather).
  18. Only a few more spots remain in the Boudoir Marathon this August in Milwaukee. Feel free to email or PM me if you're interested! Modern Wisconsin Wedding Photographer Faber Photography Blog Archive Milwaukee Wisconsin Boudoir Marathon
  19. I was just coming on here to post the wedding tree & thumb print idea! How funny! I think it's awesome though! Especially for a destination wedding where you typically don't have that many guests, so the leaves don't get too full. Another idea would be to do a palm tree and have the finger prints be coconuts. I thought that'd be cute! Here is the article on Wedding Bee: Our Wedding Tree | Weddingbee
  20. Definitely good pictures to show the mom!! If only I had taken a close up of how dirty it was from dancing... and then how CLEAN it got from going in the ocean!!
