I had 35 guests, two of which were babies. And it was totally worth it!! Loved it! Â Bars are all different depending on which one you go to. My cocktail hour was in the lobby bar and that was nice, they moved around the table and chairs for me so we could have a little privacy. The rain location for akumal is a lovely bar with open air possibilities and a live band. The hacienda is a large shopping center. It's got shops around the outside and a Corona bar and a sports bar. And then they have live music out in the courtyard. It's pretty cool. And then later the disco opens. Â Is it for young only, definitely not.

Welcome Kim! I got married at the Akumal side and had the private poolside reception. At the time I paid $35 per person for the meal and drinks. It was awesome. I also hired the DJ for $150 an hour and it was definitely worth it in my mind. But the pool side reception in general, AMAZING. Worth EVERY single penny and then some. it was so awesome to eat and dance under the stars.

If your wedding date was April 8th then it would have been really weird, just switch the day with the year! As for our daughters... yeah, that is nuts!!! Are you bringing her with to Cabo? Now I feel I must meet her!

For the record, I too hope you can add the under table lights! That looks awesome!!

Standing During Ceremony?
TATrisha replied to goodtoglow's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I miss having the edit button But anyways, by having SOME people sit and some people stand, you won't have to fight to see so much. If 85 people are standing, odds are pretty good they won't be able to see the ceremony. -
Standing During Ceremony?

I would talk to Tammy B from Tammy B Photography. She photographed a wedding there and I'm pretty positive they all stood. You could get her feelings on that. From a photographers stand point, it's REALLY hard to take photographs with everyone standing. Perhaps you could do three or four rows of chairs for your immediate family and then those who don't feel they could stand that long in the heat. Maybe place them more in a half circle shape and then people can stand behind them? -
The beach location is right next to the gazebo and is very pretty. Surrounded by palm trees and on a side of the beach that isn't too crowded with swimmers. I have some photos if you'd like to see them as well. http://faberphotography.instaproofs.com/viewEvents.php?id=26995 Mexico wedding. It was on the beach. Very lovely.

Hi Guys! Wow! It's apparently been awhile since i've been on here, and I'm so sorry! What drama I have missed. That is COMPLETE crap that they won't let you choose your photographer. Rather than sending emails, i would have your travel agent call them. You might not be able to have a local photographer but hopefully you can still fly someone in. Being forced to use someone who has shown no consistancy to their work is really scary. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's utter crap. That's a scary risk. Hopefully you can have your TA battle it out for a guest at your wedding to take photos. Â Good luck you guys!

Gorgeous dresses!! Love the wedding dress. So unique and it'll photograph beautifully! -
"Worth" is a funny thing. Is Dreams Los Cabos an amazingly gorgeous hotel. YES!!! Will you love it, I'm pretty darn sure! However, if it would mean more to you for more of your family and friends to attend, then perhaps you should look at another resort. If your family and friends can afford Dreams, then it's totally worth it. But if it means that you'll have 6 guests as opposed to 20, is that worth it to YOU?

Yes, the gazebo is two layers. How many guests will you have? That will determine if you'll all fit. The bridesmaids/groomsmen shouldn't be a problem, as they'll stand in the upper gazebo along with you and your bride. However, just as an FYI, standing INSIDE of the gazebo you won't get the beautiful blue sea behind you in your photos. Del Sol did an amazing post on this forum to help brides and grooms understand the technical side of photographing in gazebos. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/58731/the-royal-pdc-gazebo-ceremony-recommendations-by-del-sol-photography It's for a different resort, however the same logic applies.

You'll definitely find better deals if you go out of the resort. On the resort property part of what you pay is convenience, so it’s higher priced. When you deal with the locals on 5th ave you’re definitely going to pay less. You’ll also pay less if you buy tickets directly at the facility, or in the case of Xel-Ha and other attractions, you actually save money if you buy online ahead of time.

Welcome Amanda! I had the private wedding reception by the pool, however during our stay we ate at the Dolce Vita. It was nice. They are actually the same building, just seperated by a wall. Frutos is seafood and Dolce is Italian. Either one I've heard is wonderful for a wedding reception and has good food.

I actually recommend the morning after as the high of the wedding hasn't really worn off, and you probably still have some curl left in your hair. I think it makes for better photos, but that's just me. Also, you might have to wake up earlier than that. That last trash the dress that I did in Riviera Maya was in February and we had to be on the beach by 5:45 so we could start shooting at 6 and the sun was up by 6:30. So make sure you check the actual sunrise time and plan to be there BEFORE that. The sun goes up quickly

Kids... ours LOVED the GBP! (well, not mine personally, but our flower girls). We had two little girls (under 2). The activity pools have shallow areas where they could actually stand themselves. we brought beach balls and just had a blast. It was great. And the resort really caters to children. It was lovely. The water park at Barcelo was pretty awesome though. I'll give you that.

I actually have been to GBP and Barcelo, so I might be able to add a little insight... I stayed in a Junior Suite on the Akumal side. LOVED IT!!! Plenty of room. Gorgeous view. Barcelo, stayed in a suite on the Palace side. WAY prettier room... Grounds: GBP... amazing. SO many pools, spread out so it doesn't seem crowded. Barcelo... didn't like as much. Beautiful, but compact with four resorts and it seemed very crowded and that was in Feb which is not a peak month Food... HANDS DOWN GBP. I was not a huge fan of the Barcelo food. There are definitely a lot of choices so you're bound to find something you like, but I liked GBP's selection way better. Now, which resort... I'd say Akumal or Coba. They are newer. coba is not on the water though, and I like an ocean view, which is why we went Akumal. It also depends on where you want to get married. If you want the gazebo, you'll have to stay at Tulum or coba. If you want the beach hammock location, you'll have to stay at Akumal or coba. Hope that helps!

This should help you out http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...omy.html?n=923 Depending on when you get married, it will change. Currently in Cancun, the sun sets at 7:30 pm. By the end of August it's 7pm. So it really depends on when you get married.
