  1. I am very excited to attend the webinar! I'm currently creating a one stop resource for brides having their wedding at the NOW Jade and this will be very helpful! I have a question about the Devine Package. It says it includes an upgraded photography package. What does that include?
  2. jend, the upgraded lines that are provided by resort are $27.75 for table clothes, $4.44 napkins
  3. Here is a beautiful wedding reception that was rather recent where they used paper lanterns on the terrace and they were not lit. I think they still look beautiful http://jaclynmariephoto.com/blog/2011/11/21/destination-wedding-kim-and-dustin-at-now-jade-in-cancun-mexico/
  4. Ah yes, the gold bracelets! They signify that you're a bride & groom... or that you're handicapped! LOL!!! It's to help the wait staff give you the very best of service. The robe and slippers means you're in club golden, which is an upgrade, but you don't have to have gold bracelets.
  5. I definitely had the trio play in the bar, but that was in 2008. I'm sorry they don't allow it any more
  6. They are sprayed to the right color. White Callas are available for cheap in Mexico. Colored ones are not, so coloring them is a cheap way to get the look that you want. It's very common and from what I've seen, they look gorgeous.
  7. I definitely had that problem. It was really that they felt bad that they weren't coming. Whether they couldn't afford it or they just didn't want to spend their money on a trip, they couldn't come. They felt bad about it and didn't want to talk about it at all or make me feel bad for having a wedding where they couldn't come. It was super weird and hard for me to understand, but I would just talk about other things.
  8. I didn't have one after my wedding. If a friend has gotten married here in Wisconsin, she doesn't throw a second smaller wedding for all of those who can't make it, so I didn't feel like I should either. I had my wedding, I paid for an amazing reception. If they couldn't make it, that's really sad, but they understood.
  9. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way Vanessa! that's definitely not the feeling you want right before your wedding I was one of those brides that paid for my first dress and then two months before my wedding I got a new one, so I feel your pain. Is there anyway you could go to the bridal store and see if you're able to buy off the rack? I know our local bridal store has a nice selection of dresses in many sizes that you can take home that day. Or David's Bridal? In the end, you want to feel fantastic. Perhaps a different dress will do that, or maybe once the whole look is together (veil, shoes, jewelry, flowers) you'll feel beautiful and happy!
  10. I'm sorry you had a few glitches along the way, but i'm glad that overall you had a great wedding day!! Congratulations!
  11. Riviera Maya is an amazing place to get married. There are so many options from Playa Del Carmen, to Akumal, to Tulum. Beautiful beaches and amazing people. Your wedding will be gorgeous! To help decide where you want to go I'd make a list of what is important to you: Get married on the beach? Soft white sand? Children allowed? All-inclusive? Large resort or small boutique resort? Great night life entertainment, or a relaxing zen experience? Answering these questions will definitely help you narrow down the search. Photographers is a tough one because there are so many options!! Resort photographer - familiar with the resort, but typically very expensive and over processed photos Local photographers - there are very many AMAZING local photographers in the Riviera Maya. Del Sol, Elizabeth Medina, etc are just stupendous! Check with your resort though, as many resorts won't allow local photographers to photograh weddings anymore. Otherwise there will be an entrance fee. However, for such amazing photos, if the entrance fee isn't too high, it's totally worth it! Fly in a photographer. This is often forgotten about, however it's usually great bang for your buck. Many brides choose to fly in their own photographer. The cost is typically travel plus a fee for the wedding services. In some cases, this can be MUCH cheaper than the resort photographer. In almost all cases, the value is much better. When you fly in your photographer you get an entire day of photographs, typically a trash the dress session, and maybe even some candid photos throughout the week of your stay. Just to give you an idea, in January I photographed a wedding at the Gran Bahia Principe in the Riviera Maya. The couple flew me in and paid, in total, just over $2500. They got well over 1,000 photos between the wedding and the trash the dress. Had they purchased 160 photos from the resort photographer, it was $3000. So you can see how it was much more logical to fly me in as opposed to using the resort photographer. Good luck in your search for the perfect resort and a photographer.
  12. Sorry to see you didn't win You were so close! I hope you're able to find a great photographer still.
  13. Oh these are SO cute!!! I agree with dragging the please join us down a little bit, it seems a little high. I also love the two toned sharks, however the date in the other orange is throwing me off. Not sure why. Maybe Punta Cana in that color orange instead?
  14. I love the waves, but I agree with choco, could you make the red darker? And perhaps the border thiner? i think I'd really love it then!
  15. Morgan, this is SO exciting! Congratulations!!
  16. I would say 9. 9 - hair 10:30 - done (always give yourself extra time!) 11 - Room service or eat lunch (it's hot, you must eat!) 11:30 - makeup 12 - one last pee, and then the dress goes on! 12:15-12:45 pictures 12:45 load yourself in the cart to go to the wedding 1pm you walk down the aisle
  17. Hi Tracy. The theme dinners are $50 a person and the regular poolside dinners are $35 I believe? For the Italian restuarant, check out my photo tour. It's Dolce Vita. You can see the layout of the restaurant. Most likely, you will have the place to yourself for about an hour before guests will start rolling in. Gran Bahia Principe Akumal Photo Tour
  18. Oh I am so happy that you were able to book a poolside dinner! I think you will LOVE IT!!!!!
  19. Depending on WHERE you trash the dress, the dress is usually wet and ridiculously full of sand. But it's not really too dirty. Most of the black stains from dancing at your wedding actually wash off!
  20. Best wishes Sarah!! I cannot wait to hear how amazing your wedding was! For the music, it cannot be MP4s (what iTunes are). It has to be able to play in a very old cd player. Some people have had luck with MP4s, however it's definitely not worth it to risk it if you can avoid it! Cheryl's disc, for instance, did NOT play for the ceremony. I think glow necklaces would be more fun than glow sticks. Just personal opinion But it's DEFINITELY dark enough. We had glow ice cubes at my wedding and they were awesome. It really made me wish I brought glow necklaces. The dance floor would have been awesone! Make sure your photographer gets some awesome pictures of the glow-sticks... they make for super fun photos! Everything that I have heard is that the disco is fun, but it's loud and it's hot. As long as you go into it knowing that, you'll have a blast I'm sure. As for your bachelorette night... seriously, that sounds like SO much fun. You'll have a fantastic time!!

If you spray the living crap out of it, it should hold a curl, however I would be more concerned about the wind. It's really windy, and your hair will definitely be in your face, so just keep that in mind. For my wedding I had two 18 month old girls. They had SOO much fun. The "kids pool" is just perfect for them! As for the milk, they do have it at every meal, and if you ask, you can usually get a carton of it. I would book your spa appointments early. 10 or 10:30 if you can. It's better to have more time to relax with your ladies than to be stressed out. Especially if something goes wrong or communication breaks down while getting your hair done. Yeah, hair down... wind... meh. It's definitely humid, so if humidity will wreck your curls then I wouldn't risk it, but usually they'll stay curled with massive amounts of spray. I would at least pin part of it up so that it's not in your face during the ceremony and pictures.
  22. Vicki, if you could please submit your review to this location: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-all-inclusive That'd be great! Thanks!

And I will gladly accept payment from them in the form of free travel to their resort!!!
  24. No artificial petals. Too windy and they blow away and damage the eco system.
