  1. Sadly, it can rain at any time. It's the tropics. However I've been to Riviera Maya in the beginning of November and I thought it was quite lovely, although a little chillier than I would have liked.
  2. Hi Kal, In the review section I have posted where the reception was. Hopefully you can find an answer there, pictures, or at least a person to send a private message to. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/78683/official-now-jade-wedding-thread/10#post_1744731
  3. Are you having a legal ceremony or symbolic? If it's legal you'll have to be in Mexico for a certain amount of time before getting married, so you'd have to do the Thursday wedding. Otherwise, it's nice to get the wedding over with so you can stop stressing and enjoy more of your time... but guests being able to take less time off of work is definitely a factor and a good reason for a Thursday wedding.
  4. I'm glad to see a few new brides on this thread! I've added you to the bridal roll call. As for the beer that is served, they serve Corona (original only) and a Mexican beer (I forget which one, but it's not Sol or Dos Equis, which is odd to me)
  5. Yeah, it's EXTREMELY stressful when you don't get replies back. I think we all experienced that. It was utterly annoying when I was about to leave for my trip. She definitely sees the emails and will have everything ready, but when it comes to coordinating with other vendors, that's when it gets tricky! Just keep emailing. Perhaps call?
  6. The problem is the glass out on the beach. They don't really allow glass out of the restaurants and such because of the liability. So I don't think you could just walk into a bar and ask for them. BUT, if the vow renewal is coordinated through the resort, then I'm sure they'll have them out there for you. They are very accomodating and they have a champagne toast for the weddings which is real glass, so it can be done.
  7. First off, Tink, I'll be there during your vow renewals! How fun! I'll have to lurk and see if I can catch a peek! Sand ceremony, definitely bring your own wording. For us, we had the Rascall Flatts song Bless the Broken Road as our sand ceremony song... so this was our wording. We had my aunt read it. There is a song that speaks of “a long and winding road†and before you met, your lives were on such a road... each going in different directions and seemingly leading to different destinations. But somewhere along the way you took a fork in the road to a destination called “love†and today you find yourselves standing together at the entrance of a new path that will join your once separate journeys into one. Before each of you there is a container of sand. Each container represents the separate journeys you once were on. They also represent your own sets of friends and families that once were apart. I will ask that in a moment you both blend your individual container of sand together... representing the coming together of your friends and family, through your marriage, into one. And as the sand is blended into one container, your once solitary journeys will now be one of companionship, as you walk a single path together into your future. As the sand has blended together, your lives are now joined. Your friends and family are as one as well, for now you will share those who are in your lives and will walk hand-in-hand along the path of your marriage - united and strong as husband and wife.
  8. At 4pm the sand won't be too hot, especially in February! Flip flops will flip sand up... mostly in your dress... where you will have sweaty legs, thus sticking to your legs. It doesn't happen to everyone, but the chances are very good.
  9. It depends on the season. In November, they were terrible!!!! In January when I went, a few guests had problems, but only when they walked on the beach or in the sand. In April, not a bug to be found. So, I'd err on the side of caution and perhaps provide OFF wipes? Easy to pack and easy to use.
