  1. That is typically the case. There have been exceptions, but rarely. Congratulations and welcome!!!! The wedding times are typically allocated, however you can ask what is available for the day. There should be two options. In May, I'd guess it'd be 3pm and 5pm, but I could be wrong. Wow! You'll be there a full two weeks! You're super lucky!!
  2. Welcome "worst" bride. Don't worry, it'll be fantastic!! It's kind of crazy when you book and they don't seem as excited as you are, isn't it? But everything will come together and it'll be gorgeous! The Akumal location is my favorite (biased)! The resorts actually do not share the wedding locations. If you're staying in Akumal you will have to use the Akumal wedding locations, unless there is a weird circumstance. If you're staying in Tulum, you will have to use the Tulum wedding locations. And Coba, you can choose from any of the three. That's so fun that you guys will be there at the same time. You'll have to get together for drinks! Everytime I'm there to photograph weddings it's so much fun to meet up with BDW brides! It's nice to put a face and voice to the username
  3. I didn't married there, so I'm no help. But it looks gorgeous and I just wanted to say welcome to the forum and congratulations!!!
  4. Tough order! Cancun specifically, or the Riviera Maya? Do you want to get married on the beach, in a gazebo, under a canopy, in a garden... Do you want an outdoor reception, private reception? Do you want a large resort or a small intimate resort? Do you want nightlife at the resort? What is the budget per couple for 5 nights?
  5. I think you'll need to go try them on. Everything changes when you actually put the dress on. Just go into the store with both ideas and see which works best!
  6. The airplane pack sounds like the nicest thing ever and I wish I had thought of that!!! So cute! For my wedding, I did one bag per room, and then insulated mugs for each person.
  7. You should definitely talk to your specific photographer about the amount of time. Personally, I work quickly, so 30-60 minutes is plenty of time for group pictures and bride & groom pictures.
  8. I'm pretty sure it's Kenneth Winston Private Label by G. http://www.bestbridalprices.com/kenneth-winston-wedding-dresses-style-1433-p-85416.html http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com/pr/Private-Label-by-G-1433/37032 http://www.beautifulbridalboutique.ca/private-label-by-g-wedding-dresses/
  9. Small weddings are gorgeous and intimate. You actually have a very nice sized group going! I photographed a wedding there back a few years and they had fewer guests. They actually opted for the beach location instead of the gazebo, but as shown in the pictures above by Pierre, the gazebo location is great for just a few people too. Here is the beach wedding, you can see they only had about 12 people along. Barcelo Maya Palace Wedding Photos
  10. Here is a thread from happy brides over the past couple years: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/55982/fernando-at-makeuppros-cancun-for-makeup-review and his website: http://the-makeup-pros.com/
  11. I just wanted to bump this thread as I've seen a few questions about who to use for hair and makeup in the Riviera Maya area. I highly recommend Fernando from The Makeup Pros, and it appears a lot of other brides do too! [email protected] His team did the hair and makeup for the August wedding I photographed, if you click the link you can see their pictures to see how it looked... and also see who Fernando is!: Gran Bahia Principe Tulum He uses MAC and was fabulous.

  13. I invited everyone to my destination wedding that I would have normally invited to a regular wedding. You never know who would actually go until you ask them. So I believe I sent out close to 100 invitations. In the end, I had 35 people attend my wedding. Two people were "plus ones" and four people decided within the last few weeks before the trip that they were able to make it. I was very surprised at the guests that I thought FOR SURE would be there, versus the ones that actually came. But the ones who were there, were perfect and so happy to be celebrating with us.
  14. The resort did not charge me anything to set up my extra items... but of course I got married almost five years ago (dang!). Tip who you feel deserves a tip and whatever you're comfortable with.
  15. We got married at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal. It was fantastic for the small children along.
  16. Yeah, it all just depends on the day. Mariah's wedding at the gazebo was fairly windy. Her hair blew out of it's hold even. So it's hit or miss, which comes with getting married outside I suppose.
  17. I gave the wedding coordinator a ridiculous document that had very detailed pictures, drawings, and instructions in regards to EVERYTHING. I'm overly type a though,... So there's that. But everything was done perfectly. I loved the hammock location. There are rocks where the water breaks right in front if you and it's just gorgeous. Plus it's "private" since you can't swim at that part of the beach. However, it is very windy. I did not wear my veil due to the wind, and I had to have my hair up. But I'm not sure if the other locations are too much less windy? The dinner in the restaurant is semi private. For usually at least a half an hour, if not longer you'll be the only ones in there, so that's really nice. For me, having an outdoor reception under the stars was the only thing I wanted. Being overly type a, I knew there was a rain backup location if need be,,, but I put in an order for a gorgeous sunny day on my wedding day, so all was good
  18. Multiple responses to that one The first option is to use the centerpieces that they have in the restaurants. This is typically a bird of paradise in a vase or a clear lantern: or Or you can pay extra to have decorations at your wedding site. These will then be used as centerpieces at your wedding. Here is my wedding ceremony site. I paid for extra flowers on the hammock structure and along the aisles. You can see them pointed out in red. The one pointed out in blue was included in the wedding package and was used as a decoration at my reception as well. Then here is my reception. You can see those same flowers used at the center of the tables. Here is Cheryl's Reception Centerpiece. It was the flowers used at the center table (like mine arrowed in blue), and then they added a candle to the middle. Here are two of her three tables. You can see that the main table had the included centerpiece, the rest just had the lanterns Or you can bring your own centerpieces and give it all to the wedding coordinator during your meeting and she'll set everything up for you. (my centerpieces included votives and the table runner that I gave her at our meeting to set up). Or you can hire an outside florist and have centerpieces made for your reception, like Mariah did:
