  1. Welcome! Try not to stress too much. Invitations can be really fun! Depending on if you are doing a more casual wedding you can do things like passports, message in a bottle, or the traditional invite. I think destination weddings are exciting, so no matter what people will be excited with the invite. As for the at home reception, could you hold it in a park or at a local art museum? A lot of times smaller town art museums are a lot cheaper but make for a really great atmosphere.
  2. Welcome Kerri! Let us know if we can help you with anything.
  3. Sorry this is so stressful. I actually was looking at the Moon Palace, but the reviews started getting me nervous too. I have now switched to my current plan of the Gran Bahia Akumal. I think the Moon Palace has a lot of great things to offer, plus, depending on the time of year that you go, I think the price is reasonable. Most of the negatives I heard were of the beach, but the pools are gorgeous. And almost every wedding review I read said that they loved it. Not to mention their wedding packages contain a lot! I think you have to consider the group of people that will be going. Is a beach important to them? Is a large facility OK? Those type of questions. I think no matter what you'll have a great wedding!
  4. I know I've seen David's Bridal pictures here, so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share the cost of alterations there. Do they even do them? I'm trying to create a realistic budget!
  5. Where did you guys find starfish necklaces? That's a really cute idea and I'd like to see a picture!
  6. Are you planning on paying for the ten guests? How long are you planning on staying in Mexico? I have been looking at April of 2008 as well. I would recommend later in the month as it will be cheaper. Since Easter is in March, that will help you out, but the first week of April might still be expensive. If you only paid for your own stay, stayed a short time and had a basic wedding package, I think you could have a wonderful wedding for $3000.
  7. Welcome Jackie. Sorry your fi doesn't want a destination wedding. Is he set on getting married in a church or does he have family that is pressuring him to get married at home? I hope you are able to have a great wedding, at home or on a beach. Happy Lurking!
  8. Did you think of maybe doing the regular RSVP on one side and then the day after wine tour on the other? That is what I was thinking of doing. I was planning on printing each separate and then attaching them to a piece of colored cardstock. That way you won't be able to see through the paper and you'll still save on postage.

Oh I love you all already! My family makes fun of me for planning ahead, but I have a problem where I come up with really cute ideas AFTER the fact. So if I plan ahead and compile, then once it gets stressful I won't have that problem. I'm starting to think, however, that I'm WAY too Martha Stewart like. I plan on making all my own STD's, invites and other random things. I think my head might explode by the time I get engaged!
  10. I actually didn't know what it was either until I was researching flowers. I have attached some pictures. It's the white star flower. The center is perfect for pearls or crystals.
  11. Does anyone know anything about the flower stephanotis? Is it available in Mexico? What does it cost?
  12. I don't have a MAC, so I'm not sure if it'll work, but if you do a Ctrl & Print Scrn you can paste into word and then crop. That way the photo will be whatever size it was on your computer screen. I hope this helps you.
  13. Sea if you can respond by: June 7th M ______________________ ____ You beach ya' we'll be there! ____ All tide up . . . must wave your invitation.

Hi! I feel actually quite awkward by doing this, but I'm not engaged yet. We have talked about it, picked out the ring, decided on our attendants, and decided on a destination wedding... but no ring. None the less, I have been keeping a scrapbook of sorts for ideas and when I stumbled upon this website, I found a lot of valuable information. The resort that we have in mind right now is the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal.
