  1. Thank you so much for that confirmation from the Akumal side!!! There are plenty of pools, so I'm sure it can be done at all three resorts. Fernando is the only one that I've worked with. He'll send someone else for hair though. I confirmed the poolside reception probably 7-8 months before my wedding? I never confirmed a restaurant, because I wanted it all outside.
  2. That's a fair question that I don't know the answer to! One of the questions you should ask almost all vendors though is if they run the operation by themselves, or if they send people to represent their company. Many people get burned that way, so it's a good question to ask.
  3. Honestly, a lot of brides don't use the BDW (crazy, right?!!?). And as most of you know, when you sign up for a wedding you're presented with dinner options and it typically does not include the poolside reception. So I'm not actually sure how many know that it's even available. It doesn't seem like it happens very often, or often enough for me to remember, to our BDW brides. However, it's growing more and more popular as people are realizing how awesome it is (and it IS awesome) And they have enough pools, but I don't know if they have enough equipment??? I doubt it would affect the service they provide for you. They charge a vendor fee for a reason, so it's not like it's severly affecting them. And it's YOUR wedding day. Make sure it's exactly how you want it.
  4. Based on photographying other weddings... I recommend the makeup pros (they were amazing) And DJ Bijan was far better than the resort DJ. Don't get me wrong, I had the resort DJ at my wedding and he was just fine. However after photographying Cheryl & Aaron's wedding where they had DJ Bijan, and Mariah & Joshua's wedding where they had the resort DJ... I HIGHLY recommend DJ Bijan!!! He was amazing and the party was awesome!
  5. I have never seen or heard of two poolside receptions being held at the same resort. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just that I haven't seen it. Have your travel agent call them and confirm your request for a poolside reception. If they can't get ahold of your coordinator, call Paloma instead.
  6. Actually there are areas of the big pools that are only a foot or so deep. So people dance in those pools too You can use paper lanterns. If there are multiple brides, either they'll say first come first serve or they will allow one of the receptions to be at the other pool.
  7. Oh yes... the last wedding I photographed there! http://faberphotography.com/weddings/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-gazebo-wedding/2012 It's the pool right out from the Don Pablo and the Tulum Spa.
  8. As far as makeup goes, foundation is good for photos, it'll tend to keep you from looking oily or sweaty. However, it's really important to NOT have mineral makeup. It reflects in photos and makes you look more white.
  9. What false information did they give you? You can still have a poolside reception at Akumal, and perhaps they'll even let you have it at whatever pool you want. I'm not the deciding factor, just trying to help along the way.
  10. Akumal does have a jacuzzi pool, but it's not quite the same as the ones in Coba, so I'm not sure.
  11. I'm glad my pictures of the jacuzzi pool reception make you happy and excited!! If you're a Tulum bride, I'm not sure if you'd be able to have a jacuzzi pool reception, as there aren't any in that area. They are only in the Akumal and Coba sections. AndreaandAaron, I have heard of many brides writing their own script, or even having their own family and friends marrying them when they have a symbolic ceremony.
  12. You must be SO excited! That's so soon!!! RGilberti, we don't have anyone on that exact date, but within a week around you we do. Is that your wedding date? Would you like me to add you?
  13. Yup Misscolo16! You two have the same wedding date. How fun! You'll have to get together and have a toast! I have updated the bridal roll call with the newer brides that I saw. If anyone is not on the list, please let me know! Thanks and happy planning!
  14. The extra flowers were $35 or $45. Not bad at all (but I chose flowers that were shown inside the flower catalog). MayanBride, it's up to you. Do you want to pay extra for the private reception, or is a secluded area in a restaurant with probably 30-45 minutes of it to yourself enough?
  15. Welcome back!!! Thank you for posting another wonderful review and I'm so glad to hear your wedding went so great! You looked beautiful and it looks like a lot of fun was had by all!
  16. The hydrangeas in mine were "included". By that I mean that bridesmaid flowers weren't part of the package, but the cost of the flowers was very nominal so I'd think those wouldn't be a problem
  17. Katryn, I think they have some ability to move tables. Which restaurant will your reception be in? Promise, the setting is amazing and everyone is so happy and excited for you that the table decorations don't even matter too much. Nobody will notice that it's missing. FutureMrsWarner... good luck! Let us know what they say. That's pretty ridiculous that they'd pull that move.
  18. If they were planning on staying at the resort as a guest, then I would contact the hotel customer service... NOT the photographers. Contact the resort directly. Explain that you want to get married there and that guests to your wedding are photographers and it is ridiculous to not be able to use their services. But only do that if they are staying at the resort. If they are only coming for a day pass, then that is a different story and you'll likely not get anywhere. I am guessing the photographers are trying to scare you and this is not actually a resort rule.
  19. I had one. Well, I ordered one and I got something other than a mariachi... but it was still awesome!! Loved having the live cultural music. It was great! We had ours during our cocktail hour.
  20. Nope, that includes travel. Obviously, travel varies, so the price varies, but that's typically what my clients pay.
