  1. That's definitely doable. I've seen very small parties like that on the beach and it's still beautiful. And that works very nicely for the restaurant dinners and then hanging out at the live entertainment afterwards. It should be perfect
  2. It happens to every bride, whether destination or not. Just try to remember that you're going to Puerto Vallarta! The Dreams resort is AMAZING and gorgeous and you don't really need much else to make it magical for everyone involved. So set a budget. What you can afford and not lose sleep over. Perhaps it just includes travel/dress/photographer. And literally nothing else. And that's okay!!! You don't need programs or out of town bags or fancy shoes you'll never wear again. you're getting married at a beautiful and unique place and your guests will love it no matter what! And you're marrying the love of your life, so you know YOU'LL love it!!
  3. Best wishes! And I would say that having to arrive in paradise a day early is just a pure bummer... NOT!!! Have a great time!
  4. I had my dress fitted for flat flip flops. That way it didn't drag in the sand too much (I was barefoot for the actual wedding). And then it's all about a slight little kick while you're walking.
  5. I have spent a lot of time compiling the resort reviews and photos in the Official thread. Here is a direct link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/78683/official-now-jade-wedding-thread/10#post_1744731 And most people do not have their receptions on the beach at the NOW Jade. I'm sure you'll read why in the reviews. Not a single one is from a beach reception...
  6. They did when I got married. I gave them the disc accompanied with a piece of paper that said which song number went with what. In full disclosure... they screwed it up, so there's that
  7. Good morning! Start with this thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/921/vendor-business-membership-fees-rules-updated-11-29-2011 Hopefully that'll help answer your questions.
  8. I added a few to that list. I had songs for while the guests were being seated (they often mingle by the chairs for a few minutes before sitting... no clue why). Then I had a sand ceremony so I had a song for that.
  9. Brandi I think that champagne shoes would look beautiful. That's a nice tone with any color blue. And I'd say they don't have to be the same shoe. That would allow each girl to show their individuality. And I really like how you have an ombre look going for your bridesmaid dresses! That'll be beautiful!
  10. I've done the couch to 5k program twice, and I loved it. The first time I literally went from the couch to running a 5k. I didn't exercise at all and the 30 seconds of running during day 1 was seriously leaving me winded! But, I completed my first 5k just 12 weeks after I started. It was awesome! The second time I did the program was to get myself to run faster. I wasn't sure how to train my body to do so otherwise. So instead of running at a speed of 5, I ran at a 6, etc. It helped and was pretty awesome. Good luck!!
  11. There are round tables and square tables. You can basically have whatever arrangement you would like. I wouldn't bother with a set seating chart unless you have a lot of people going. Otherwise people will naturally just fill in the spots for a more casual dining experience.
  12. Hi Jill! I have links to all three resorts posted in the Official Gran Bahia Thread, but here is a direct link to my photo tour of the Akumal resort. You'll be able to see a wedding setup at the hammock location. http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-photo-tour/ And here is a wedding I have photographed at the same location: http://faberphotography.com/weddings/cheryl-aaron-gran-bahia-principe-coba-destination-wedding-photos/2012 I hope that helps!
  13. Great review! I've added it to the review section so it'll help other brides. Thank you so much for coming back and posting it Congratulations!
  14. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's worth it. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool and people will use it... but with that number of guests I'd rather entice them to dance than to relax. They will still have chairs and cocktail tables set up around the pool, so it's not like people will have to stand.
  15. Interesting! I have no idea what that means! I wonder if it's like a lounge furniture set up!?!? That'd be fun! And special illuminations I would guess is the rope lighting that they do for the poolside receptions, but I'm not positive.
  16. You don't have to fly a photographer in from Scotland. There are plenty of really talented photographers in the US and Canada that would have far better prices.
  17. I mentioned it in the other thread, but I will mention it here too, you cannot hire a local (Riviera Maya) photographer to photograph your wedding. They will not allow it. You can fly in a photographer (honestly, it's cheaper than the hotel photographer and you'll get better and more pictures). You can also have the photographer stay at a different hotel, however you are then charged a $800 day pass... so that doesn't make much sense.
  18. You cannot hire local, you'd have to fly in a photographer. You can have your photographer stay at a different hotel (for an $800 day pass), however they cannot be a local riviera mayan professional photographer.
  19. Yeah, I still attempted it for my wedding (it was back when this forum was pretty new so it wasn't well known that you couldn't get in...) and it was embarrassing! Flying in your photographer will be fine as long as all his/her paperwork is filled out correctly upon entering the country.
