  1. January will be beautiful as well. My sister was just at a wedding there in June at Castaways and it was hot, hot, hot. But... they still had a blast and danced all night. They just made the waitors work a little harder making sure they had cold drinks.
  2. First, don't freak. I promise you that everything will go wonderfully and you're freaking for no reason. Just be excited!! Grooms. They can be picked up in the trolley car prior to it getting you, or they can choose to walk. It'll depend on your photographer too. For instance, when I photograph weddings at the GBP, I take pictures of my grooms ahead of time, so it makes more sense for us to walk to the ceremony ourselves. It allows for great pictures of the groom with his groomsmen. The entire group will be spread out, but they do try to keep them within a few buildings of each other. It's nice to have some privacy, yet not have to walk all over the place. I have had brides who went to Walmart in Playa and had their own champange to toast with beforehand. I've also had a lot of my brides have it in their room as a present from the resort. For guests that are arriving at the same time as you, I'd hand them out then. Otherwise have a welcome dinner at the buffet on the first or second night and hand them out there.
  3. I don't think it'll be too hot in November. November evenings in Riviera Maya are usually nice and cool. If you were getting married in June... different story
  4. Yup, there is always a little corner of it, and the main "theme" of the buffet switches nightly, but it's not the same at all three buffets. So you'd be able to find mexican food pretty easily.
  5. The flowers I had on my set up were around $45 a piece I believe. They were smaller though. But as long as you keep with the flowers provided and in season it shouldn't be TOO bad. Plus they can use them as centerpieces during your reception. Here was my set up:
  6. Do you have a travel agent? They will typically have far better luck getting in contact with them. April is also EXTREMELY busy for the wedding department. So respose will be slightly slower. They are trying to provide the best service possible to the brides who are there getting married.
  7. If you don't want to worry about it, you don't have to. You'll have a meeting with Jazmin about two or three days before your wedding where you'll be able to go through the book of flowers and pick everything out. Centerpieces aren't included. You'll get one (the decoration from the ceremony), but that's it. The tables are beautiful as is though, so I wouldn't stress too much about it if you're going for a care free experience.
  8. Page 2 of this thread. It lists all the brides in date order so that you can group together with them to share stories, experiences, and even vendors such as flying in photographers. And there is usually mulitple weddings on the same day and it won't affect you at all. It's a well oiled machine that they are running down there.
  9. EmmA, I added you to the bridal roll call. There will be a ton of May brides in a few short months. It just takes awhile because packages aren't out in all places yet. But Superlawer87 is getting married the day after you.
  10. Wow! That week in January is going to be crazy full of BDW ladies! How exciting!! I've added you all to the bridal roll call.
  11. There are multiple reasons why people book outside photographers. The main ones are * More coverage, less money * Better equipment * Better photography skills * Dedicated to wedding photography In the end, it's typically better quality and quantity. Best wishes!
  12. Great job!!!! Keep up the good work, you're doing great! it's so awesome that your fiance is so supportive and you have an end goal already paid for to look forward to. Now just keep running! As for weight loss... this isn't the program to lose weight with. You're building a lot of muscles and you won't lose weight. If in the end you can go for 3 mile runs 3 times a week, then perhaps you will. However you will not (typically) lose weight during the training.
  13. MC - the white chairs with covers are included. The chairs you have pictured would be the extra $700 charge
  14. Every wedding that I've photographed at the GBP has paid for the lowest option of bar (beer & margaritas) however a full bar has been served. If it's REALLY important to you, then perhaps you don't want to risk it. However I haven't heard from any of the most recent brides anything different. nic, here is my photo tour of the property: http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-resort-photo-tour/ It also has a link for the menus of the restaurants near the section about the Gran Tortuga.
  15. Finding a photographer that will travel is actually pretty easy. Start with ones that you love and simply send them a message (if they don't already advertise that they photograph destination weddings). Tell them you're getting married in Riviera Maya and you're wondering if they'd be available for destination weddings. If they say yes, then talk details such as price. If no, then move on. Expect to pay at least $2,500 due to travel costs and then probably some amount above that. If photos of your wedding are important to you, I think it's worth it though. You get SOOO much more in terms of hours of wedding day coverage and end product. I think you'll be more than happy with the investment.
  16. Great job making it to week 3! Isn't it amazing how long you can run in such a short amount of time?? Week 4 and 5 are the quitting weeks. They get tough and most people quit then. PUSH THROUGH IT! You can do this!!!
  17. Honestly, with 40 people I think you'll be okay without a speaker system. It's small enough that they'll be able to hear your "grand entrance" to dinner without a mic and it's large enough that it'll be buzzing with conversation and nobody will even miss the dinner music.
  18. Even 5 years ago I was told the same 3 month thing. Ha! As if I could wait that long. Especially since some locations/times/services are first come first serve!
  19. If you fly in a photographer and they stay at the GBP, you do not pay $800. That is the fee only if you fly in a photographer and they stay at a different hotel. And you absolutely cannot use a local photographer.
