  1. Okay... so I'm starting to dabble in photography (in case you didn't guess ) ANYWAYS... I have my very first wedding consultation tonight! YIPPEE!! However, being that it's my first... I'm nervous. When you were choosing a photographer, what was important to you? What type of questions did you ask? I know what I asked of the people I interviewed to photograph my wedding... but I'm weird! Ha! I guess I'd just like to hear what you guys all asked of your photographers. Thanks!
  2. Just me... if I were given these options for a destination wedding and I could choose which one I wanted... I'd choose number three. Hawaii I could technically go to any time. It's an AMAZING destination... don't get me wrong, but your other options seem more "once in a lifetime" The reasons I like number three better are A. - everyone gets to stay together at one place. that really made the difference for our wedding. Being able to hang out with our family and friends ALL week made our week amazing. B. - I love your honeymoon ideas better for number three

    Hi!

Welcome! I'm glad you decided to stop lurking and join the fun! you'll love it around here!
  4. Sounds perfect to me! Not to mention, it won't be the dead summer if you plan it a little bit quicker, so it won't be so hot during your ceremony!
  5. Yup, I'd go with Sarah or Anac. Both of them make Amazing passport or boarding pass invitations. Just check out their websites and you'll be sold!
  6. Heck yes a destination wedding is going to be fun!!! As far as the points go, just keep posting and commenting and you'll earn points. It costs 50 points to open things up, so don't just go crazy and open things you really aren't interested in. But, eventually you end up with SO many points you don't know what to do with them... trust me... I'm there! Oh yeah, welcome and congratulations!
  7. Hola! I think scrapping the states wedding and getting married at Azul is going to be the best decision ever. From what I've seen online it is a BEAUTIFUL property!! Good luck with the planning!
  8. I had 7 1/2 months from the time we got engaged until the time of our wedding. We didn't pick a resort until about a month into it... so our save the dates went out with 6 1/2 months until the wedding. We had 35 people there, so I feel it was plenty of time to plan a wedding and have people save to come! BUT, our wedding was at an all-inclusive in Riviera Maya which was cheaper for our guests (mostly due to airfare being cheaper to Cancun than anywhere else!)
  9. Welcome to the forum! Let me just say that your three options sound AMAZING!!!!! I can't wait to hear what you choose and see all the planning items that you do! Congratulations!!!
  10. You're welcome! just let me know if you'd like me to write you any more novels!!

    HEllo to all!

Welcome Anita! What about those places makes you want to have your wedding there? Is it something specific? if so, or even if not, that could help narrow down your choices! Best wishes for a perfect wedding!
  12. Welcome Shannon! I got married in April in the Riviera Maya and it was beautiful! The weather was just perfect, not TOO hot and the sunset was at the perfect time. You'll love it!
  13. Welcome! Congratulations on your engagement!!! Don't worry, a year is plenty of time to plan a destination wedding. I planned mine in 7 1/2 months! You should look for Alyssa's posts. If you use the Advanced Search function you can type in her user name. She just got married in Hawaii and it's BEAUTIFUL! Actually... I did the search for you. here are some of her pictures... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29141
  14. Welcome to my neighbor from the south! Xcaret is beautiful! Are you getting married at the little chapel?
  15. Welcome! I OFFICIALLY got married in the Riviera Maya. The four days/bloodwork/paperwork was no big deal at all and I wouldn't have done it any other way. So although it may seem like a lot of hassel, it's not.
  16. Hey Gil! I responded in your newbie post... however just in case you don't see it... check out this review of a wedding in Playa... they had a band that sounds like it might be perfect "Music: This was on Top of my list, I needed good music, and I found Balance, they are 8 musicians, play anykind of music, English & Spanish, they kept everybody dancing for 4 hours! Even in the breaks, the DJ selections were great.. I highly recommend them: Balance la Banda - Downloads"
  17. well, your dream wedding sounds LOVELY! When you say formal wedding, do you want it in a church? Or just in a Gazebo type setting? This photographer is very well known in the Riviera Maya. They do beautiful work... but more importantly they have posted a lot of their work on this forum to help people out! Check out this thread... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t4276 That will list a LOT of the places where you can get married near Playa and also give you a visual of what the weddings are like. This thread is about a wedding at the church in Playa and then a resort reception... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t18777 Okay... now the biggest help is that these wonderful photographers also just got married in Playa! here is their review http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t15288 The most important part is that they had a band which they thought was AMAZING. Here is what they wrote "Music: This was on Top of my list, I needed good music, and I found Balance, they are 8 musicians, play anykind of music, English & Spanish, they kept everybody dancing for 4 hours! Even in the breaks, the DJ selections were great.. I highly recommend them: Balance la Banda - Downloads" I hope this helps!
  18. LOL, given birth to a dog. Oh goodness you crack me up!
  19. Welcome! The pictures that I've seen of the catholic church in Playa are beautiful!! Do you plan on walking from the ceremony to the reception? I think that's so cool when people do a parade like that!
  20. Welcome Nicole! Which cruise line have you chosen?
  21. ALOHA! I actually am from the Milwaukee area! Where will you be having your AHR? Okay, sorry... the Hawaii part is WAY more exciting... I just like hearing from people who know the Milwaukee area!
  22. I think this type of stuff is so much fun! We did the Dirty Dancing end performance at our wedding and our "crowd went wild." It was SO much fun!
  23. Welcome! The Cancun area is beautiful! You are right, the weather is a little worrisome, however tons of brides on here have had their weddings without worries during hurican season. It is cheaper for your guests. And, worse case scenario... you have a really interesting wedding story to tell your kids!
