The only recommendation I can make is please take me with you!!!! LOL. I need a nice beach vacation! No, have fun and don't stress out too much. Make a list of things you want to accomplish while down there and have a list of questions ready for every place. That way you will be organized and can be the most efficient.

Plus, I listed all the things we need to pay for - flowers, private dinner, dj, spa, etc - and asked what we need to pay for in cash and what can be paid for on our credit card. I want to take out cash now (since the CDN dollar is dropping) but I have no clue how much to take out. Alright, in my experience. The DJ must be paid IN CASH BEFORE the wedding... like at your meeting the days before. The flowers, private dinner, and spa are all paid upon check out and I used my credit card. There was no conversion fee and it turns out it was cheaper than I even expected. We leave next Saturday (the 25th) - so 10 days! That's NUTS! Are you so excited? Who is your photographer? I forget. Should I wait for her to reply and resend the message and add Paloma in? I don't want her to think I'm going above her and going to her boss (i don't want her to be angry with me and give us bad service!) but I just want some answers. I had the same thoughts about going above Yuritizia... of course lord knows she's a heck of a lot worse than Jazmin! However including Paloma did work... and I was also given a bunch of freebie additions to my wedding, and I honestly think it's because I was not happy prior to arriving. Who knows though. I hope this helps!

My favorite look is jeans and heels. Then you can switch it up by bringing multiple shirts... maybe a black nice shirt, then maybe a fun purple shirt or something with a flash of color. And then your FI can wear a sweater in some of the photos and then a button down shirt in the others. Just some examples. Stay AWAY from horizontal stripes and busy patterns.

Welcome Marni! Dreams Tulum is what looks like an awesome resort to get married at. We've had lots of brides (and grooms!) get married there and the pictures are amazing!! Hopefully everything will be figured out by the time your wedding gets here! Best Wishes!

if it's any kind of fancy dress, they'll know what you are doing and stop you before you even enter. My husband got stopped and he was just in pants and a white shirt. Sorry.

Welcome!!! I was married at a Bahia Principe property, but the one in Riviera Maya. It was amazing and I've heard nothing but great things about the one in DR too! Search through this site and I think you'll realize that a lot of ladies have planned their own destination weddings without a planner. This website is SO valuable and will give you a lot of information. Good luck and best wishes!!!

I have not been there, but I've heard it's beautiful!!! Is it a newer resort? I'm surprised we don't have more brides staying there.

I would recommend bringing in your own photographer and having them stay as a guest. I know that might not be a possibility with SOL, and I know their work is amazing... but how can the RUI tell you that one of your GUESTS who is staying at their property can't take pictures? I just did a quick Expedia and bringing your own photographer for three nights (so most photographers would give coverage for the day before, wedding, and TTD) would be $1650. For two it'd be $2100. So for just $400 more than the terrible resort package you could fly in your own photographer. Of course, some photographers might charge a fee on top of that, but try and find one who is just breaking into the destination business and I bet you can get it to next to nothing.

I picked a TOTALLY different bouquet and it was no extra charge and exactly what I wanted. So don't worry too much about it. Just bring along pictures of exactly what you want and I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised!

I wish you luck. All I can say is that I got married at the Akumal side and it was amazing, but there was no way they'd let me get married at the Tulum side. The problem is that they have 2-3 weddings a day per side of the resort, so there is really no way that they can get another wedding in. Good luck.

I agree with everyone, just a little gift bag (one per room) to let them know that you appreciate them coming. Maybe even just two bottles of water, snacks, and then the welcome note?
