  1. We didn't have a cork, and it worked out fine. I packed a BUNCH of paper towels into the vase. REALLY tight. If it shifts much at all it'll look silly... so make sure you pack them in REALLY tight. Then I used Glad Press & Seal paper over the top of the vase. Used scotch tape around that. And then also a rubber band or two in case the tape would for some reason come loose. Worked perfectly fine.
  2. Welcome Kristen!!! Where in Wisconsin are you from? I'm just north of Milwaukee!! Anyways, Moon Palace was the resort I debated between. I think it's beautiful and you will have a great time! How many people are going with you?
  3. Alright, first of all, you are getting married on my birthday! yippee! Also, your location is one of the most amazing I have seen. i cannot wait to see your photos!!! All of your details look stunning and you looks fantabulous in your dress! Oh my you must be SO excited!!!
  4. Hi Sunshine... I just wanted to remind you that if you are going to do candles for centerpeices make sure that you either have large hurricane glasses or that the room your reception is in will be enclosed. We had candles on our tables for our wedding and the candles blew out within a minute! It was a bummer... but I really think hurricane glasses will illuminate the area even more anyways.
  5. Welcome!!! The beach is a variety of diffferent things. The Tulum side is a little bit less rocky. Akumal side is rocky, but still plenty of fun. Our guests went swimming every day in the water. And it's BEAUTIFUL water. And then if you are really up for some adventure you can walk down the beach about 10 minutes to the abandoned hotel and their beach... which is powder soft and awesome!!
  6. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I have always sailed Carnival and I LOVE it! Which ports will you be going to?
  7. Welcome! I got married down in the Riviera so if you have any questions just let me know! Happy planning!
  8. Hi Jamie! Welcome to the forum!! I planned a wedding while working full time and going to school full time, so I definitely know what you mean about having a full plate! Don't worry though, it's totally doable. Especially in such a beautiful place as Maui!! My first advice is to start here: Maui - Best Destination Wedding Forum That will give you all kinds of advice from brides who have been married in Maui. Good luck and I hope you have a great engagement!!
  9. Everything looks SO great! And I LOVE your wedding dress! I actually think my parents just booked this cruise last week! LOL. Not positive, but I know they are going Carnival and I know they are going to those ports... or at least I'm pretty sure. So that's hilarious! have a wonderful time and I cannot wait to see pictures!!!
  10. Welcome to the group!! I got married just south of Akumal, so if you need anything or prices or things like that just let me know! Oh yeah, and I always checked this webcam from the Akumal beach... it got me SO excited for my wedding! Akumal Webcam: Riviera Maya webcams~ Mayan Riviera Mexico Best Wishes!!!
  11. Glow Products.com: Glow Sticks, Glow Necklaces, Light Up Ice Cubes, Glow in the Dark Golf Balls, Night Golf, Light Up Glasses, LED Candles and Wholesale GlowSticks It was the one demand that my husband had for our wedding... and everyone LOVED them! They were SO cool! We did the blue and it really added extra glow to our tables (candles blew out because of the wind)
  12. I would ask them if you still have to pay the fee if a guest of your wedding takes the photos for you. Explain it to them as a dear friend of yours is a pretty good photographer and they have graciously given their services to you as a wedding present. They will be staying at the resort and attending all wedding festivities. Do you still have to pay the fee? AKA... you fly in your new "best friend photographer" for your wedding and they take your photos. I think those types of fees are more for if you hire a photographer from jamaica. I would double check with the resort.
  13. Hmmm... I have you looked at hiring a photographer to travel with you to Costa Verde? I'm sure there are tons of photographers who would offer to go to such a beautiful place and take photos for you. And for the band... yeah, that's a hard one! Sorry.
  14. I had the same color scheme and I did bright pink roses with accents of green. I thought it looked great.
  15. Definitely use one of the DW TAs from here. They are so smart and almost all of them have planned their own DW so they will be able to help you a lot more. As for announcing everything to your guests, what I did was I secured my location and travel with my TA. Then I printed up save the date cards. I did boarding pass invites. On the back of the ticket folder I placed our travel agents name and her contact information. I also put it on our "tickets." That way people could really start to save since they'd know about pricing and the hotel before the actual invites go out. I also used my wedding website to communicate the travel information and how to contact the TA.
  16. That was such a cute idea and a great way to personalize everyone's trips!!! So thoughtful!
  17. Yup, just keep them straight and put them in a freezer bag just in case. they should be fine. PS, we had glow in the dark ice cubes at our wedding and they were a HUGE hit. So you might want to bring some for the adults too!
  18. I actually think the 5pm wedding time is quite perfect. A reception starting at 5 is a little early. So the wedding lasts about a half an hour and then 30 minutes travel time puts guests arriving at 6. That is perfect! otherwise if your wedding was at 3:30, 30 minutes ceremony, 30 minute travel... it's only 4:30. In the summer, that's REALLY early if you ask me.
  19. I remember how truly excited I was when I found this website! These women have SO many great tips and stories... you will LOVE it here!
  20. These look very nice!! Hopefully it'll start getting people excited and start them on the right path to saving money!
  21. Welcome! Key West looks SO amazing!!! you must be so excited!!
  22. Le Gourmet... that's where I ate!! I loved it! I wish I could remember what we had for dessert... but it was outstanding!!!
  23. Honestly... my sister thinks I'm nuts! She's seen it multiple times and knows that I'm not lying... but she can't explain it. Thankfully swarvski crystals are typically solid gold posts and backs so i can finally buy really awesome earrings at a fraction of the typical gold cost.
