  1. Lisa, it is already the evening of your marriage! I know it is a beautiful night for the two of you. We are all looking forward to your report on when, where, who, what, and why! Best wishes to the newest Bridie Murphy (an old expression of my sainted Irish Granny). Lizzy
  2. First off I want to tell you how wonderful it is to read your posts and well wishes. I truly believe that it makes a difference! Thanks to all of you...love you kids! As Maggie told you, the surgeon was able to get a biopsy, thank God. He said he would see me in a couple of weeks to discuss the surgery and the pathology. So now we hurry up and wait. Because my DH is 100% disabled from his militry service while in Viet Nam, I am also qualified to get health care at the MPLS VA Hospital. It is kind of complicated in that I am not allowed to join the Clinic for Women. There are too many female soldiers that need the spots, as it should be. But I am able to go through Urgent Care and be seen that way. One thing that I have found is that there is some evidence of the good ole boy network being alive and well in some of these physicians and the manner in which they deal with non-military female patients. Now, there was a time when some women could be patted on the head and told to let the Doc do the worrying, everything was fine, the Doc knows best. Well it is not that time and I am sure as hell not one of those women! Many on the urology team felt we should just wait and watch the tumor for another 6 months. After the 2nd oppinion I insisted the tumor be taken out. What I received was no eye contact, promises that it was not malignant, and an ass who I swear was about to try to pat me on the head! I got my way, but now I am going to have to wait for the results. Please don't misunderstand me, I am so grateful to have the VA. I just don't like to be condescended to. Back to you guys, because of your prayers and good wishes, and the good energy you sent my way, I am confident that the results I get will be great. I have said it b4 and will continue to say that all of you ladies are the best! Much love, Lizzy
  3. Absolutely beautiful! Was your husband crying at the alter while he waited for you? Nothing is more sweet to me than a man who can show his tears when he needs to Congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness, Lizzy
  4. Thanks ladies! With you and my family behind me, this will just be a minor PITA. Surgery is around 11:00. I am leaving in a few minutes but wanted to say how much I appreciate all of your prayers and thoughts. You girls are the best! I will let you know the good news when I get back home tomorrow or Thursday maybe. Take care, ... Lizzy
  5. I am so happy to hear your wedding was everything you wanted. Be sure to be detail oriented in your review...we love photos and details! Congratulations! Lizzy
  6. Hi kids, I just wanted to let you know that I will be gone for a few days. Don't let anything exciting happen without me, OK??!!!! I am going to have surgery tomorrow at the VA in Minneapolis. Last November my docs found a tumor in my left kidney. To make a long and dull story short, we don't know and even after the surgery, may not know if the tumor is malignant or not. I vote "NO". So if you have an extra minute, I would sure appreciate a good thought or a prayer. Thanks. I will talk to you all in a couple of days. Love ya, Lizzy
  7. Amy, I only know what Maggie is doing. She visited the rental place in Playa del Carmen (her wedding is in Tulum). They have everything from linens to authentic ceramic serving dishes to lounge tables, pillows, etc... I know this is not near your location, but maybe your counsutant can go to your place and take some photos of what you are looking for. Sorry if this doesn't help~ Lizzy
  8. Erika, what a great day this is! Best wishes to you and your FI. It is definately time to have a fiesta! How about the dancing girls?
  9. Happy wedding! Congratulations and have fun! Lizzy
  10. Maggie and Tadd found quite a few places in RM where they can get the maracas really cheap. Her wc at Anna y Jose Beachclub will pick them up for her and she (Jackie) has a friend who does wood burning and will personalize them for us w/ guests names and dates. So, I agree about waiting until you get down there. Maggie told me to stop ordering online, they have everything we want in the RM. One less job for mom! Thanks again for your thoughts and suggestions. Lizzy
  11. Even though I love all my girls that are in the poll, I have to vote for Jason and Karen. They are both members of the forum and have been very helpful throughout. Romance, talent, and great reviewers, Yippy Skippy! and a Whoot Whoot! Lizzy

    Hi!

A big welcome to you Stacy. Have you ever heard of the Hotel California?? JK! Great ideas, great experience, and great people around here! All welcome you with open hearts. Lizzy
  13. You chose the best forum in cyber space to join. Everyone is very happy to help you along the way! I am a "Mother of the Bride" and would be happy to help you from a little different point of view, if you so desire. Have a great time planning and being involved with this awsome forum. Lizzy
  14. Hey Sarah, glad to see you are moving up in the DIY and BDW societies! Congratulations on your promotion. Are you still gonna be the Red Cross Nurse? I loved that photo in your Boudoir photos. Lizzy
  15. Sorry, here is the link: 10) What are black Irish and shanty Irish?
  16. Faerie Princess, there all kinds of interpretations of what the term "Black Irish" means, but this article gives a short rundown on them. I still think it is a beautiful thing to be and am happy that my daughter and I, and you my young friend, are so blessed to be one of them! Lizzy
  17. Hey Kelly, see what I mean?! Now tell me it doesn't remind you of yourself
  18. Yep, My great grandparents came over from Ireland Now there are a few other things like Scottish and French-Canadian mixed in but I am very proud to have the celt in our blood! Maggie and I are both Black Irish. Two of my boys had a Norwegian Dad and Maggie and Boz' dad is Ukrainian. But, the best part of all of them is Irish and Scott! PS: you truly do look like a fairy princess. Look in some of the Celtic lore books, you might just see yourself in one of them! Lizzy, of the MacNamara and MacDonald Clans
  19. Lisa how did you do the ring shells? If there was another post, I missed it, sorry. I bought a couple of shells like yours but wasn't certain how to make the rings stay secure. Did your shells come with the flowers or did you add them youself? I need details on this. I love how they look! Thanks, Lizzy
  20. What about a duffle bag with lots of padding around the parasols? I think the handles are23 or 24" so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  21. We were on our way to China Town and noticed it. We stopped and went inside and were very pleasantly surprised. The parasols and fans are all in the lower level, along with all of their paper lanterns. I absolutely would suggest stopping in the store. Its quite an experience and way better than paying shipping! Lizzy
  22. Kelly, those are just the best invitations ever! When Buzz and I got married we printed it with all 6 of the kid's names inviting the guests to the wedding too. Unfortunately, I didn't have a little Picasso like "Liam the Great" to add a personal work of art to the invitation! I wish your whole family much love and happiness!
  23. Anny it looks perfect, just like we all knew it would! Your joy is so evident in all of the photos. May your marriage be blessed with a home full of love and children. How many people did you end up having at your little soiree? I know everyone had a magnificent time. Lizzy
  24. mine are 10" at widest part and about 11' from top point of fan to the bottom of the handle.
