Thanks again - from now on when people ask who my wedding planner is at Riu I am gonna say Sarah...lol... (** what a total rip-off...i am gonna address that issue with the hotel - I understand on the beach the additional cost to bring the booze down there - but the wait staff has to come in and out of the same bar to give us the beer etc so whats the big deal....)
-
Ooooh and do you have to pay the alcohol per hour per person charge?
-
i've probably already asked this but for clarification(I always want clarification...lol) if you have the reception on the mexican terrace do you have to pay the $500.00 private party fee?
-
So I originally wanted to be legally married in Mexico for all the right reasons - and also because I have seen pictures of the wedding license/certificate (my fiance calls it the mexican wedding gift certificate...lol) and I really wanted one - we are no longer doing the legal wedding in Mexico and I was wondering if anyone knew if a symbolic wedding included a symbolic marriage license certificate or if there is a company that you can request one from? (completely silly)

My fiance has absolutely put his foot down about the additional costs at an AI resort - he can not get it through his head that the wedding could be extra when you are staying at an AI - he keep saying, "but the food and drinks are free!" I know it's frustrating but I also realize that the hotel will be moving food, set up, servers etc to a whole new area where they don't typically have them and that costs them extra money...its all just green paper in the end...

I think we are going to do the mexican restaurant - seems more appropriate for our small group - 20 people- and I worry about walking around in cute shoes...lol...

First and foremost - I totally agree that we Riu girls need to get the Riu section going... also - wowzers that is a big chunk of change for the projector...what about getting poster sized black and white pictures of you guys as kids and mounting them on stakes and placing them around the dance floor or something? Is that retarded? Side note - do you have to pay per person for dinner on the beach or just the set up fee?

In case you all didnt know, I am a total control freak and am desperate for any and all info - I have been contacting girls on tripadvisor etc who have been married at Riu Cabo for their info etc - here is one response I just received. All in all, I thought the RIU was great for the money I paid. Veronica (the wedding coordinator) was a little flighty and hard to contact (even while staying there), but she got the job done and my wedding turned out great. We did have our reception at the Mexican Restaurant (I really liked the food there). The only thing I didn't like about it was the way the restaurant is situated. The area that you sit in is long and somewhat narrow, so it was like we were sitting at one long table and not able to socialize well with everyone. Plus, the dance floor is at one end and around the corner so when we did our first dance, people had to get up and walk over to see it. Oh - and it was sweltering hot and Veronica was no where to be found and we couldn't get them to raise the sun shade to let a breeze in. Honestly though, I don't think you could have the reception at any other restaurant there because all the other restaurants are small. The actual ceremony was perfect - except for the fact that my mariachi's were 20 minutes late. But..... I'm married and had the most amazing time. We loved staying at the RIU. It was perfect for us and all of our crazy guests b/c it's all inclusive so we were able to eat & drink whatever and whenever we wanted. Plus, they have a swim up bar which is pretty much where we all (60 of us) migrated.

Hi Ladies: So I am working on my budget and I had some questions-- I know that the private reception is additional monies ($500.00?) and that the appetizers are $8.00/per person and the booze is $10.00/hour/person. My questions is once you pay for the private party - does that include the dinner or are there additional costs? Also, if you decided to have the dinner in one of the restaurants, do they have private rooms or a private terrace or anything so that it would be some what private? And then you couldn't have a dj? I am obviously confused but trying to see where our money is going to go. We are expecting it to be 20-22 of us for the wedding.

I am totally frustrated because my old computer died and it had photoshop on it and I dont have the disk so this computer is lacking....arg...need to play with my monogram - MUST buy photoshop immediately...lol I am leaning towards the orange and pink original one but my "groomzilla" is insisting that pink not be allowed at our wedding...hello, it's a wedding - pink is almost required. lol

My friend is having lazor done and the main reason I hesitate to do it is because she said if there are blonde hairs - they are staying in. I am about half and half and I would totally have my arms done or my legs but I apparently can't because its all blonde. Blah...where are the people searching for a cure for hairy blondes LOL

I lost about 13lbs last spring on WW and am back on the wagon since I have a tight white dress to wear in a few months...I am sooo tempted to cheat and do some freakish maple syrup diet...I am finishing up an 8 week pilates class and i swear I am fatter and less toned...ahhhhh...my fiance wants to drink beer and eat fatty foods - they dragged me to late night denny's after drinking last night - they are evil. Becks light beer is only 64 calories - my favorite...not so terribly naughty...
-
More options (but definitely not my favorites). I might just add yellow to the first pink and orange one and use lemons and orange slices...what are your thoughts?
-
a lime and aqua version of the first (not quite lime enough yet but you get the idea)....sorry for the delay ladies - had to go booze last night seeing as thursdays are my fridays...whew - if you are looking for a new naughty drink : three olives cherry flavored vodka and diet coke...delish...
-
Ok - I am decided between wedding colors and developing my monogram. Pink, orange and charcoal will be awesome cuz i can get flowers to coordinate - but if i use lime green I can decorate with limes, green apples etc. Here is my first monogram...a lime one to come...

thanks i am a bonehead...i am thinking about event tickets, the plane ticket boarding passes - or just these little boxes at Michaels that look like I could make them appear as if they are small suitcases and put faux stamps all over them and stick a luggage tag inside that has our save the date info inserted in the luggage tag for the guests to use? I am not sure...waiting until my boss is out of town tomorrow (he, he, he) to finish my monogram and hopefully (Fingers crossed) get my confirmation date so I get things rolling... whew!

I live in Southwest Florida and grew up in Naples - if anyone is thinking about a Sanibel Island, Naples or Marco Island wedding - I am happy to give any info that I have.
-
When you request a date from Riu - they send back a a confirmation with a code - but you have to enter the code and give a credit card to finalize the date- and they ask for you to request the rooms and ask if you are a travel agent etc- and i didnt know if since I would like you to plan our travel arrangements etc if i could confirm the reservation with the room blocks or if i would be messing everything up - i am a complete bonehead and have no idea the order of things to reserve.
-
How long did you wait to accept your confirmation for Riu Cabo - and did you wait for Tammy or your TA to do the confirmation and room block for you? I am sooooo excited that we finally almost have a date - Riu gave us our sunset at the gazebo for Nov 2 2007...YAY!!!!

I am having a hard time with the wording of our invites because we are doing a bon-voyage party before we leave (a small paper signing ceremony will also occur so technically, people will see us get married) and I dont know how to word it where they will feel good about being invited but not left out because they arent invited to the wedding in cabo. I am having my mom's wedding dress made into a cocktail dress for the party. this is what i am thinking: How lucky to marry not only the love of one's life, but one's best friend At sunset on October 13, 2007 Bride and Groom will be married in Cabo San Lucas MX You're invited to the local celebration to help send off Bride and Groom on date & location It's still awkward but something like that - any suggestions?
