I wanted to have a bon voyage party = (FI calls it the Adios Party) to send us off to be married as well as sign all the documents etc to be legally married here in the states...but the money is definitely an issue. We are having such a small group in MX (20) and I really cant imagine not celebrating with my grandparents etc who cant go to mexico...definitely an issue in our house...$$$ drives you crazy...Plus SW Florida is so freakin expensive.

I have always "suddenly" had to go to the bathroom whenever the bouquet toss comes up at weddings. Its a joke between my fiance and I --- I dont really mind the catching part -- i just always thought it was silly to parade all the single women like a cattle call and then make them fight to be the next one to be married...

I actually tried that dress on...it was really pretty and the rouching (sp*) makes it super flattering...wasn't the dress that won me over but it is really pretty in person.

Now I really want to pick my dress so I can have it posted...what beautiful brides....

I dont know what your budget is, but i would rim the edge of the fountain in candles, varying heights and maybe with no holders, just thick cream candles - really over flowing, and then I would defintely float the flowers and maybe try to hang some crystals...I look at the space and that fountain and it screams sophisticated glamour and I can see it all lit up with candles and dripping in crystals --- black glass and black crystal are soo in right in terms of interior design and that space would look amazing...you could always drape fabric around the base so that it swags if you want something soft at the fountain....(sorry to go on, and on...) oh and all of those suggestions are based on the idea that the shower is at night....what time of day is it at?

WonderVase - Magellan's Travel Supplies thought i would look for something that would travel well...what will they think of next. this may be an option for me to a) have cheap vases & b)not worry about how I will get them there....hmmmmm BTW - quit my job two weeks ago and have an enormous amount of freetime when I am not interviewing....lol....

We are having a super small wedding of only about 23 of us total so I only had to do 13. They didnt take long at all...I actually was going to order the luggage tags online and was at a local carwash of all places and saw the adorable ones with the initals - and I liked that I could personalize them to each couple....sooo..the wooden boxes were about a dollar, the luggage tags were 5, the paper not even 5 cents each, the stamps were expensive but divided between each STD probably $2.00, tissue was probably like $.50 and then the box and mailing was three dollars...so I guess around $11.55 each - so I only spent $150.00 dollars and I wanted our guests to feel really special - so it was worth it. Our invites will be super cheap so I am guessing for STD and invites we will come in under $300.00.....not bad in my opinion...if people are willing to spend approx $1000.00 per person to come to the wedding, I want them to feel excited and special...

OK Girls here is the description of my newest and first DIY project for the wedding. I will post pictures as soon as they are assembled. I bought those small wood boxes with a handle and clasp that you can find at craft stores (JoAnn's, Micheals Etc) and bought stamps that look like passport stamps as well as stamps that look like postage, and a passport. I covered the outside of the boxes in stamps. I found these small leather (faux I am sure) luggage tags with Letters on them so I bought one for each couple with their monogram - F = Ford, G=Goodwin. I am printing cardstock with the following (plus embelishments) SAVE THE DATE Bryan & Toby October 27, 2007 Cabo San Lucas MX Additional Info: (our website once I get it) and putting the cardstock in the luggage tag where you typically put your info. I printed our names on paper over and over and over again and put it through the paper shredder to make our own confetti strips. I am putting the luggage tags in the wooden boxes in tissue paper in our wedding colors and then surrounding the wooden boxes in the confetti and all of this will be in a cardboard box to mail to them... what do you think....i swear i will post pictures as soon as i have some....

I was planning originally to be married in Italy - and there are a ton of wedding planners online. If you look on trip advisor you will find a ton of suggested planners for Italy weddings. Sadly our budget and the travel time was too much for us to do Italy --- but who cares now cuz I get to go to Cabo!!! I love, love, love Europe (Studied there for 9 weeks) and am still hoping we might be able to honeymoon there. Good Luck!!!

Try on something you would never pick -- not heinous 1980's crazy lady dress but it you typically would go simple -- try a really elaborate gown...change out the fit -- if you go Aline - try a mermaid or a different cut...you might as well try them because those sometimes surprise you... take tons of pictures and really enjoy it....oooh and if the ladies dont let you take pictures this is what I did -- I would send them on a hunt for a specific dress or shoe or something and then as soon as they walked away my friend would snap away...if you cant think of anything, ask if they have the catalog with the picture of the dress in it...

I have called every bridal shop in FL within driving distance and no one has the halter in a sample. Maggie has a size 6 (I wish I could fit it over my head) that I am gonna try to get sent just so I can see it in person - besides that no one has the halter....I think I am gonna do the halter but I am still not sure....but god I think it looks like this fabulous 1950's jazzy lounge singer sexy appeal dress and my fiance will think he is the luckiest man alive cuz its shows booty, boobies and is silky...still deciding...if i can get the six sent here I will try it and take pictures, but seriously girls, it may be really scary...lol...the maggie is about 600 so its more than i wanted to do but definitely do-able...

you girls are so sweet --- next time i am horribly depressed and about to jump i know where to go for a confidence boost...i am thinking i should pony up and do the halter since it has been my constant love even though i have tried on about 50 other dresses....i'll let you know as soon as i decide... oooh and here is the back of the maggie halter --- so gorgeous....

thanks girls....i am leaning towards two --- its just hard since i cant try it on....and the strapless is so freakin cheap....i will let you know when i decide...luckily my friends mom is a seamstress so i know she wont let me look bad and can fix whatever needs to be done... the back of the halter maggie is slightly different - still has the asymetrical bow and clasp but the top has lace - makes it super sexy....the nice thing about the strapless is it is corset which gives you a tiny waste and bigger boobies...lol...and the seamstress will add a partial modesty panel to cover a bit of the back so its not so open...you guys rock with all the feedback..

the first one is soooo elegant and yet not too dressy for a beachy mexico wedding and wicked flattering --- its actually not a maggie but an impressions....and its only 258 dollars....OMG!!! I love the halter one and the tank which are the maggies and they are really shiny but actually hide everything - all flaws are disguised...I am just lost between the two...I am typically a halter kind of girl and the moment I saw the maggie halter I fell in love....but the strapless impressions is sooo amazing and photographs well....so lost....

Ok ladies, here are some pictures of the dresses I am deciding between - be forewarned, neither sample is in my size - the strapless is too small and the tank is too big. The tank is a maggie sottero that is similar to the halter that I want but no one has the halter sample for me to try, which is why i am also posting the picture of the halter - so you will have to use your imagination. (Side note : dresses should look more flattering when I am less FAT. lol) the halter dress i want (the tank version is on the right - it was the closest i could find to try) but cant find a sample of to try....

I think her dress photographed well - Juan do you recommend a certain type of fabric and detailing or think that some types dont photograph as well? I am deciding on dresses right now and am worried about paying a lot of money for detailing on a dress that will never show up in photos. Any ideas or suggestions? We took pictures with my cheap digital and the detailing is there somewhat. Thanks for the input...

My attitude is this - they all know that i am a total freak when it comes to how things look - i was an art major and photography major and now do design and color etc are my things --- i just think that while I want them all to love what they wear and would never be totally crazy and pick all of their outfits, i would have liked the option of saying at least a color range to stick to. blah...the MIL is driving me crazy anyway....so it goes...i even told her when she first called me to tell me that she bought a dress (she had already bought it and it was too late) that i didnt care as long as it wasn't floor length and white and this is what she said "on no honey, i don't want to wear a floor length gown" hello...YOU CANT WEAR WHITE UNLESS ITS BEEN REQUESTED BY THE BRIDE YOU CRAZY BIOTCH!!!! (holy venting this morning --- sorry ladies i know its early)

So about one week after we got engaged my MIL went out and bought her dress. I know its great that she is excited but A) at that point we hadnt decided where or when we were getting married technically she should have waited for my mom to buy her dress or indicate what she was going to wear. So now I have my MIL in Cabo wearing a halter dress with hankerchief (sp*) bottom - top of it is supposedly black with cream, seafoam (vomit), and peach bottom. My mom is overweight and I want her to feel great so i feel like i should let her get whatever she wants - so now my pics are gonna be slightly spastic. Do I photoshop them out later or keep those pictures in black/white or sepia? My only Maid of Honor informed me that she wanted to use a dress from another wedding she is in this summer for my wedding. Too bad the color is totally wrong - I put my foot down and said that it wont work - (I will find a dress that she can wear again and add a broach or ribbon or something and makes sure that it is cheap - no bridesmaidy dress) but I feel awful. And my Fiance is using his father for his best man and thinks i am being picky because I want their suits to at least coordinate if not match....ARGH!!! I am going to have the wedding color schmorgasboard from hell.... So ladies - honestly --- am I being a bitchy bride or what

If I would have actually read the information on the Riu website I would have noticed that yes we do get a non binding non legal marriage (gift) certificate - in spanish...yay!!! Now I am onto a new battle - seems that you cannot do their cheapy package if you have more than 10 people. But, my response is what if i don't want all of the crap that comes in the bigger, more expensive package - oh yeah ladies...there is gonna be a battle. Its bad enough we have to pay for our booze at the AI resort....my attitude... Bring It!!!
