  1. Hey girls- I need an opinion on etiquette. I am paying for my photog's trip and she's bringing her mom (totally fine, her mom will just pay her own airfare and however much more it will be to stay in her room). My question is this...do I invite her mom to the reception dinner? Definitely not to the wedding right? I mean, I've only met the lady once.
  2. There's also this one on the QVC...it might be a little busier than what you want.
  3. You girls are freaking me out because you all seem so skinny in your pics but you're doing WW! Yikes, I should DEFINITELY be doing it. I go to the gym at least 5x a week and run with the dogs at least 4x a week, but I still haven't lost the 15 lbs I wanted to lose before the wedding (I'm 5'9" and want to weigh 130). I have 3 months to go, but still... I'll start checking in on this thread and maybe I'll get motivated by you skinny hos.
  4. I'm getting married at Dreams Tulum (no AI bracelets!). I've been there a few times as well as several other resorts in the RM (including the Iberostars). Let me know if you have any questions. Laura
  5. Miss C- Here're a couple of places in Canada that sell St. Pucchi-- Stella's Bridal Galleria (Winnipeg -- 204.453.9253) and Blush (West Vancouver 604.925.3219) I think Bisou might, too, but you might want to call them. Hope this helps! L
  6. We had the same sort of dilemma...we wanted to keep the wedding under 20 guests (although that didn't work out that well in the end) so we could still get married in the chapel at Dreams. So we decided to only invite very close relatives and friends, and have an AHR for those who weren't invited to the wedding. We're going to show a slideshow and have it catered and it'll actually be much fancier than the actual wedding. So there's that.
  7. It IS a really pretty dress. I'm starting to wish I'd chosen a more form fitting thing instead of the big cupcake of a dress I ordered. On an unrelated note, my secret job that I don't get paid for is Private Investigator. I LOVE finding things for people and have gotten pretty good at it, so if you need more help, ask.
  8. That dress looks like a St Pucchi. Doesn't this look like the same dress? If so, it's #440 from Avine Perucci on the St. Pucchi Inc website
  9. Mikki- I got sunscreen at the dollar store for...you guessed it, $1/apiece. It's pretty good stuff. I also got chapstick there as well, 2/$1.
  10. Thanks everyone for making me feel better about my purchase. Probably after going to the gym every day for the past three months and until July, I will look just like this homegirl in it. Ha! (yeah, probably not) (but here's hoping)
  11. Miss Jill- This is totally off-subject, but are those bloodhounds? They are so frickin' cute.
  12. I was a little worried about the see-through part, too, but the dress is supposedly lined (maybe they make the runway dress a little sexier? here's hoping). Anyway, if I'm going to be showing more of Laura than the FILs want to see, I'll have to get creative with the undergarments. Anyway, as far as down time, we've actually got like 8 hours between the two events, but I'm going to put some tulle in our wedding colors up around a few palapas, and just have our guests hang with us on the beach and drink margaritas. Then we'll all go and get cleaned up and meet for cocktail hour. It's not very traditional, but I just wanted the day to feel like a big party where everyone was important, not just us.
  13. Since there are several hours between my wedding and our cocktail dinner hour, I wanted to find a second, more casual dress for the evening. I finally decided on this one by BCBG. Since the people making my big wedding dress have been giving me the runaround for the past three weeks (see my five new gray hairs), this'll have to distract me until they get their act together. Does it seem too casual?
  14. I was thinking of either painting some of them blush pink and some chocolate (girls and boys and the colors of our wedding) or personalizing them with things like "Mother of the Bride,"Mother of the Groom", etc. I just need a final headcount before I start ordering them.
  15. I actually received my case yesterday...no expiration date. They're so cute. I'm pretty excited about them. Jamy, thanks for the tip. (and only about $17 with s&h included)
  16. I think I'm going to get the paint your own (since they seem to be the cheapest) from an arts and crafts store and personalize them somehow. Maybe use calligraphy to make "mother of the bride" "mother of the groom", etc on them in our wedding colors. Of course, that's pretty ambitious, but I DO have a week of vacation coming up!
  17. Congrats! I'm a 7/7/7 bride, too, but we'll be in Dreams, Tulum. Are you freaking out yet, because I am pretty stressed over here.
  18. I can't see the pictures either! Is it because I'm on a mac?
  19. Word up on the capris. I see them all over in Mexico and they're very sexy on the mens. I tried to talk the FH into getting some, but he's not biting.
  20. I'm doing the same thing. I'm making a CD for the OOT bags. Walking down the aisle to "Question" by Old 97's and the processional will be "Such Great Heights" by the Postal Service. It's probably one of the things I'm most excited about in my wedding.
  21. The FH and I found his tan linen suit at a Banana Republic outlet, it's beautiful. I've also seen them at Macy's and Perry Ellis, and they all seem to be on sale now. I'd snag one now before everyone grabs them for Easter. We also got a fabulous shirt for him at Macy's, it's Kenneth Cole, soft white cotten with cream flowers stitched on it, this one is very similar: http://slimages.macys.com/is-viewers...er.gif?328x400
  22. I'm feeling the same way about alcohol the couple of days before I get married (being at an AI with awesome choices), but I have to remind myself that if I drink alcohol the day before (especially margaritas with salt), it's going to make my hands and body swell and the ring might not fit as well. Something to think about! Don't get me wrong, now, THREE days before the wedding, it is ON.
  23. We don't have our playlists yet, but we do have the songs we're going to put on the CD for our OOT bags. (None of these songs are going to be the traditional kind, but they all mean something special to us). Walking After You by the Foo Fighters Question by the Old 97s (the song I'm walking down the aisle to) Just Like Heaven (the Dinosaur Jr. version) Mr. Blue Sky by ELO I Summon You by Spoon (I LOVE THIS SONG) New Slang by the Shins Your Star Will Shine by the Stone Roses Lucha de Gigantes by Nacha Pop (I think all you mexico weddings should include this one. It's gorgeous) Big Blue Sun by Adrian Belew Everlong by Foo Fighters Mexican Wine by Fountains of Wayne You Were Right by Badly Drawn Boy Afterglow by Travis Say Yes by Elliot Smith Two of Us (Aimee Mann/Michael Penn version) Such Great Heights by the Postal Service (song we are walking off the aisle to)
  24. I just wanted to share with you guys a song that I'm going to play at my wedding that you might want to think about incorporating into your play list (for those of you getting married in Mexico/Spanish speaking countries). It's called Lucha de Gigantes (Fight of the Giants) by Nacha Pop and it's soooo beautiful. It's the song they play at the end of Amores Perros if you've seen that movie. It is definitely on my playlist and is so fitting for a wedding, I think--slow and dreamy.
