  1. Thank you all for your responses... I know you are right. I guess it will be here quite sooner than I think! Thank you!
  2. I need your suggestions. I *really* want to set a wedding date soon... We got engaged Dec06 soon after we moved into our new build. We want to get married in the Cancun/RM area, so our first choice date was in July07. We were trying stay out of prime hurricane season, but our old house is still for sale, (bad market right now), and since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we will not have enough money saved until August or September. I recently found out both my best friend in Mexico and my FI's sister are pregnant and due this October. I don't think they should be flying anywhere that late in their pregnancies. They both said they will be there and not to worry about them, but I am trying to be realistic. I am not having this wedding without them. Give them a couple of months with their new babies, get past the holidays...that puts us into Feb 08. That seems like so far away! I know this is not the most difficult decision we will have have to make, but it sure feels like it! What do you think we should do?
  3. Awwwww... maybe he could have a couple of drinks before the speech? Or suggest he read a short poem that he picks out. Maybe it would be easier for him if they were not his words and he is able to read them. My dad said three words at our engagement dinner and started to cry, so everyone lifted their glasses and toasted to us... knowing that he was just overwhelemed with emotion and didn't know how to phrase it.
  4. This is your wedding and I think you have the right to ask for them to wear a certain style, colour, etc. Suggest the outfit your MIL picked out would be more appropriate for a night out or a luncheon the day after the wedding and tell her what the 'dress code' is going to be. Don't feel awful about your MOH's dress. She is your only one and she should understand...as should your FI. Easier said than done I am sure...
  5. I love that colour and the seashell detail. They are going to look great!
  6. Thanks for the list! Definitely going in my planning binder.

  8. This is what I am leaning towards right now: Rich orange with a little yellow and green I think my flowers will be mango calla lilies BMs will have white calla lilies and wear some sort of green or maybe burnt orange.
  9. Congratulations! This is a very exciting time! You will find so much information here. Welcome!
  10. Oh my goodness! They are so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes! You had the perfect wedding! Congratulations!
  11. There are so many wedding packages to compare and none of will have everything we want on our perfect day... so we need to add things here or there... What advice do you have for those of us that still have not signed a contract with a wedding/reception location? What little things do we need to remember or consider before signing? I am afraid I may miss something and do not have it currently in my budget to hire a WC outside of the one the hotel would provide. Thank you in advance!
  12. Congratulations Amy! I really liked Playacar Palace in PDC. I like the simple, neutral decor. It is close to the shopping and resaturants there as well. The reason we decided not to have it at Playacar Palace was the all-inclusive would not suit many of our guests. I don't think they have a European option - someome please correct me if I am wrong! (That would change my mind in a second!) It also depends how many guests you think you will have as they accomodate up to 30 I think. I have more info on this hotel, if you would like me to forward it just let me know. I have some friends that went to a wedding at Bahia Principe Tulum that Jason mentioned in an ealier post and said it was the best wedding they had ever been to before. Good luck!
  13. Thanks Anny, I showed my FI the pictures you took and he really likes the gazebo and the CasaMagna. Good point on the price since it may be a concern for some guests. I will contact the WC to see if she has pictures of the different areas for a reception for both hotels. Thank you!
  14. Buenos dias! We are still looking for a location to have our wedding and reception. I loved the pictures of the gazebo between the JW Marriott & the CasaMagna Cancun (gracias Anny!), but still trying to figure out where to have the reception. I was wondering if anyone had opinions or experiences with these hotels. I have the information from the wedding coordinator from the CasaMagna and I really like their menu. We will not be able to visit Cancun before we get married so any information will be appreciated!

Hi Karin! I have spent a lot of time searching the posts here and it has been wonderful, not to mention everyone is so willing to help! Welcome and good luck!
  16. Thank you for the reminder It is our wedding and I have to keep that present since I seem to wander off into what will be good for everyone else...

But little by little everyone is coming around. My family is so excited because we are (hopefully) going to have a huge turn out, approx 150ppl. Give it time. Once they start hearing the details and seeing that its all coming together, they'll come around. Wow! 150 people?! How wonderful!!!
  18. It was financial reasons. I told her we would try to help out. She still thinks it is inconsiderate of us for the rest of the family. We did not find a place we liked here in Columbus. All of our guests but her and my SIL would be traveling to where ever it is that we have it, including several friends that would be coming from Mexico City. I have been so excited about a DW and then today she made me feel horrible for wanting a DW.
  19. Oh Andrea, I am feeling this way today as well so I have no good advice! My sister has made me rethink all of my plans, because of the expense to every one else. I am glad to hear that your tests went well!
  20. Have you had a family member give you a hard time about having a destination wedding? It's hard to just plan as I want because she is my sister and I want here there Help!
  21. Tu boda va a estar increible Anny! Me fascino el gazebo tambien. Thank you for posting 'real' pictures. Definitely helps those of us still looking for a wedding location. They are beautiful! Pau
