  1. FI... check! Site ... check! (Hardest part almost done) Date ... nail one down soon... (this was the next hardest for me) Budget... decide if you are going to pay for it, or if parents will help. Decide on a round number - write it down and all expenses as you go. Next is the dress. A dress can take a while, so start looking! Next are colours and all that good stuff... I have a sheet I have been going by. ( (I can post it later, I have a half hour until I have to go to an all day meeting). Let us know how else we can help!
  2. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Heidi & Ann! Congratulations!!!

We have a tamale lady who comes to our building & the fruit guy too...he sells the fruit with chili & limon...fresh coconuts, mango, papaya, watermelon, you name it. And then there's the taco truck . . . . We are food twins! You are *so* lucky! I cannot get that kind of food around here unless I make it myself Wait, take that back... I can get tamales at the local Mexican grocery on the weekends... Great... thinking about food at 10:45pm... again
  4. Ummm... call her and say you won't be there until Saturday. I think I would appreciate the call or at least to be informed. She shouldn't be mad, things happen. If she is, well... she waited until the last minute to give you the details.
  5. Dreams Cancun bride here! Welcome! I loved your title btw... Do a search on Dreams Cancun (upper right) and you will find some very helpful posts.

    Hi! I'm New

That's wonderful Daria! Welcome to the forum - I think you will like it here!
  7. Some places may have lower rates on weekdays... depends if that is the case for your location and if budget is a constraint. I am getting married on a Saturday because I knew my sister could only go Friday - Monday. This works for several guests. Some people are staying Thursday through late Sunday. (Thursday is our joint bachelor/bachelorette outing - ha!) So far most of our guests are staying Thursday - Tuesday.
  8. Niiiiiice! Almost like a little luggage... cute~ I love containers! Any excuse for a new one!
  9. Help! I don't want to add to the bulky items I will be taking to Mexico, but I think we need something to have guests put their wedding cards/wishes into...

  11. Hi everyone! We will be having our wedding in Cancun Feb of next year and will be there for a week. We are looking for abother hotel in the Riviera Maya area to spend a few days as a honeymoon. I feel like I have looked through so many pictures and reviews, I wanted to get suggestions from those of you that have stayed there and any interesting activities there are to do... besides the obvious honeymoon activity. Thank you!
  12. You looked gorgeous! I am so happy for you two! I will be using some orange as well, that was nice to see. Cannot wait for your pro pics! I will be using Claudia from the same studio Thanks for sharing!
  13. I tried to stay out of hurricane season, but our rates are so much higher... Several couples on here are getting married in October in the RM. I would think it would be very nice, just have a backup site (which most resorts do) and purchase good insurance. Tammy (host) could point you in the right direction for the insurance piece. Let us know what you decide

We eat white corn on the cob (on a stick) with a bit lemon, mayo, white crumbly cheese and top it off with chile powder, from the local street vendors. They also do the same mixture off the cob but the corn is in a broth, yummy! My FI actually tried it! He liked it once the mayo was dissolved in the broth. Ann, you added the wine. That's dinner to me

The purpose of this trip is for the wedding. Visit Dreams, meet with photographers and videographers. Food tasting, maybe. What else should I do in preparation for the wedding while I'm over there? The next time I'll go back is on the actual wedding day. I'm thinking I might forget to do something. Any thoughts? Excellent! Take a detailed list of questions for the wedding coordinator that you meet with at Dreams. As you can see from this thread, we each seem to get bits and pieces answered to our questions. If you have a good list, you can have your questions answered while you are there. You may want to ask her to see the bows available for the chairs, if you are planning on getting them. Maybe see their decor options. The details you posted earlier about paying for tablecloths, etc. is news to me... not in the contract she started for me, so maybe you can ask her other little details that are assumed but not included. What about going to the market in Cancun and looking at the local crafts for something you may want to add to OOT bags or as guests favours if you are planning on having any. They don't allow for vendors outside of Dreams (with exception of photography that I know of) unless they contract them from their list- ex: firedancers, DJ, band, mariachi, mexican trio, etc. You may be able to view a wedding from a far. Wkbroome was just married there and mentioned a wedding practically every day on site.

Ditto and yes! Cut an orange in half and put the chile powder with salt on it... on a mango... shredded carrots or cucumbers, add some lemon, limes here I guess. My co-worker from India does something very similar as well There is something like the sour plums, but they are apricots. The concoction is called "Chamoy".
  17. It's almost 11pm here, but I had sushi from the local grocery and a bowl of strawberries earlier. I had to run errands, grocery store and was not in the cooking mood. About 10 minutes ago I crunched down some Fritos (con chile y limon) I brought back from Mexico. I don't usually like Fritos, nor do I eat past 7pm if I can help it... but I love chile and lemon was craving them!
  18. Not sure if this has been posted before, but I came across it while looking for handkerchiefs to give to our parents: Browse Wedding Poems I am going to print up a little card with a little saying to go with each of them. Hope you find it helpful.
  19. Yippee for TammyB! (I'm late because I am still catching up on posts during my vacation!)
  20. Hi Pasi! Sorry I do not know of a restaurant to have a wedding at in Cancun, but we are getting married at Dreams, possibly having a band and later in the evening, moving to the club next door to keep the party going at Azucar.
  21. Glad to see you here Erik! Not feeling like you need a welcome since we feel like we know you... Ha! Congratulations on your recent wedding! Erik ----><----Drea
