  1. I know! I just can't make sense of the money/budget until I see the actual numbers side by side. I'm such a finance/accounting freak that I did something similar to this to help see and select a resort. It got too overwhelming trying to guage one package for x dollars to another package for x dollars... Now I know I'm a computer geek---- I actually look for new reasons to make spreadsheets with formulas/names/cell references....
  2. Saw this on-going thread and thought I'd put this here: For those of you who still have the password to the DIY page of our website still, I just uploaded an excel document that will budget/track/calculate all the purchases for wedding for anyone to download who wants it. For example: the main sheet of the document is a categorized overview (like under attire it will show expenses for the bride and groom). But if you click on the "Attire" sheet of the document, you can enter the description of the item (and location where you purchased it), the quantity and unit price. It will then keep track of all your attire expenses and categorize them on the main overview sheet.
  3. So here are the bags I ordered for guys rooming alone. With shipping, I paid $4/each. shoulder back pack
  4. Here's the website ladies.... They also have other colors available. If you do a search "Harriton tote bag" you will find a couple different sellers who have them available. Just be careful because I noticed the lady I bought them from showed the photo for the pink bag I bought on all of the ones she had listed even tho the other bags were different colors.... eBay: Brand New Pink and White Harriton Tote Bag (item 160100519010 end time Apr-25-07 20:40:13 PDT)

  6. Cheers to E-Bay!!! I found these bags on Amazon.com and the lowest price was $3.23 each but they wanted almost $2.00 each on shipping (would have been $51 for 10 bags). So, I checked Ebay and this store had them listed for $8.99 each, but had a "best offer" button. Thought for sure they'd decline the $3.00 offer I made on each bag, but they accepted! So I got each bag for $3.00 and shipping was only $1.20, for a total of $42.... I thought they were too cute since we're doing pink/blue for our colors...

That site with them for $1 each is great!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
  8. If anyone knows of a place where I can get individual packets of dry margarita mix (customized or not), please let me know. I found one place that offers them for $1.65 each for non-customized, which isn't bad, but thought I'd look around since I have some time... Thanks! Maria
  9. Went and bought the Anna's Linen's beach towels today--- they are on sale for $2.99 until this Sunday. They aren't the thick and fluffy kind, but that's obvious considering the price. But they are decent quality and don't look cheaply made. We picked up 13 of them for now and I think we're going to wind up with all beach oriented items for the bags!
  10. I have yet to find any AI resorts in the Keys. We had looked into getting married there so it would be less expensive for our guests. If you don't want to mess with passports, maybe look into St. Thomas. There are some low cost local hotels (non-AI), as well as AI resorts for several budget ranges. I have some great recommendations for honeymoon restaurants and stuff too, so let me know if you guys wind up getting interested in USVI...
  11. We had planned on getting married at Lindo, but we moved our date out another year and are reconsidering now. I love the resort, but have had doubts about the beach wedding area---- in all the photos I've seen of weddings there, they have these cheap, tacky looking arches/pedistals that I can't stand and it looks like the wedding area is sitting right next to their beach lounge chairs and the area where they have their water equipment rentals....

I went last night and our DT didn't have the official Banana Boat brand, but the stuff they did have that was SPF30 was designed exactly like BB (orange and blue bottle like BB)... We wound up picking them up anyways, but had hoped to get a name brand so people wouldn't hesitate to use the stuff... We also found a nice little "First Aid" kit with different size bandages and antibiotic wipes. And some Curad "Spray Bandage".... I bought a can of that just to check it out and I actually like it--- I can feel the layer of spray on my skin and it's nice to not have to wear a bandage! (no clue how effective it really is tho!)

Don't know for sure, but I was thinking about not seeing on here for the last week or so and thought maybe it's because of Easter holidays---- maybe she's travelling to see family or something....
  14. Jamy- I saw that episode too! FI and I watched that every Sunday night because it was so funny to see how freaked out the brides got. But you know what---- I kind of understand them now that we're seeing people's reactions to a DW and after reading the posts on here. I bet those brides had the same issues we've all commented on---- horror BM/GM stories, bad family member reactions, etc...--- and the "Bridezilla" came out at the end from the stress of dealing with everyone else! Wonder what happened to that show? That, and Platinum Weddings? We were totally hooked on both of them!

Plus, a big portion of my job requires me to do public speaking in fronto of strangers and to write my own material, so I know I'll be the one speaking for both of us.
  16. That is hysterical--- I'm totally ripping off that "contract"---- I think I'm going to make a "Will you be my bridesmaid?" card for them and put this as the body of the card with the question at the very end! They will crack up----
  17. I would love to know where you got the OTC meds wholesale too! I want to make things practical for the OOT bags. So far we're doing sunscreen and after-sun care; koozies for water bottles in our wedding colors; plastic margarita glasses with colored liquid in them (wedding colors) so you can freeze them upside down and we're going to put margarita mix packs in them. We're also thinking of pumpable water guns; playing cards and dice; And I really wanted to find some cheap bug repellent, as well as Immodium, Pepto, a small first aid kit with bandaids and aleve too!

We made 80 STD's to send out and included a postcard to give a tentative reply. But we got 40 of them mailed before my dad got sick and we stopped sending them until we decided to postpone the wedding. We gave people until the end of April to send them back (to beat the postal increase in May). So far we've gotten 22 back (9 yes and 12 no).

I'm very close to a few select aunts/uncles and not close at all with the rest. But I know if I invite some and not all people are going to be upset. I am leaning towards "the more the merrier" and inviting them all. My main concern is what happens if only Joe's immediate family shows up and they make up 4 of 30-40 guests. I know people say that DW guests get to know each other fast, but his parents are VERY quite and pretty much the opposite temperment of the rest of my family. I'm mostly worried about them and feeling left out.... I'm in the same boat, only reversed. Frank's family is huge and extremely close. He is inviting about 4-5 people for every 1 person I invite. Of our 40ish guests, 10 will be mine and the rest will be him. As for getting to know each other--- don't worry about it. They aren't there to meet everyone else you invited. They are there to spend time with you! As long as you spend some time with your guests, they will be fine and have a great time. And just like any other social situation, they will either start meeting other people in their own, or they'll be fine left to their own devices.
  20. I have found that I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. If I invite my extended family, it opens the door to nasty comments about doing a DW. But if I don't invite my extended family, I get the nasty comments about being excluded. We decided to send "Save the Date" cards and invites to just aunt/uncle's and skipped the cousins because their parents can 'represent' the family. So about 40 people invited were extended family on both sides. Then we started getting the comments from them. Since then, we have postponed the wedding for one more year. When we send out our STD/invites this next time, it will be to remove a significant portion of our extended family and to include more friends. But, ask anyone on here who has known me for awhile---- There are a lot of people in my family who fall under the 'Koo-koo for cocoa puffs' category....
  21. I'm the same way---- I hate the idea of paying so much to wind up with my dog sitting in a kennel most of the day. We've been fortunate because in most situations, we plan our vacations with the purpose of taking Raven with us everywhere. But about once a year, we wind up having my 20-something nephew crash at our place while we're gone and he takes care of her.
  22. Now I really just want to get out of work! I'll have to stop by there on my way home--- there's one just around the corner from me. That is so perfect Sarah! I was worried that I would find sunscreen for $1, but that it would be some really cheap, maybe not so trustworthy, off-brand that no one has heard of. Thank you!!!
  23. Laura, Which dollar store (Dollar Tree, .99 store)? I had wanted to get chapstick too.... (I'm getting excited--- haven't been able to find the sunscreen for $1 up to this point!) Maria
  24. We got our box yesterday---- very prompt service and everything was packed well. Man, I'm going to have so much fun trying to find great deals on stuff like this for the bags... Now I just need to find sunscreen in this size/price range for the bags!
  25. We'll do a video for our wedding simply because neither sets of parents are able to travel and it's the only way they will see the ceremony. Plus, if we decide to do an AHR, we would play it there for the people who weren't able to attend. While I would love a pro video because of the sound editing they can do, I don't know if we will do pro-vs-guest or a combo. I'm thinking the ceremony would be pro and the reception would be our own camera. As the word is spreading in the music scene here in Dallas, we're getting quite a few calls from close friends who want to attend and I know what these people are like in our own country while they still have some sense of decorum. So I figure it will make some very interesting footage to see the crazy stuff they do when they are out of the country, and hey, if we get some good blackmail material, then we can make some money to replace our wedding funds! *grin*
