Post your Creative Ideas!
MikkiStreak replied to PVBride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I'm sure everyone has heard this about a million times from me--- but, hey, why not post it again? Music is a big thing with both our families--- I was trained in classical voice and piano for 17 years, FI plays guitar, his sisters sing, my brother is a musician, my mom plays the accordian, his mom was a singer, his dad was a jazz musician, etc... you get the picture! So we're doing guitar keychains for the placecards and the table numbers will be the a famous older-generation musician (Frank Sinatra, etc...) and the table number cards will have a quote from love songs from this era of music. As for other ways of being creative (beyond the DIY invites and various other stationary), I'm sketching designs for our wedding cake and our table decor. That's about all I can think of for now... -
Playa Fiesta - Candid Traveler Pics WOW!
MikkiStreak replied to JaimeLynne's topic in Puerto Vallarta Accommodations & Site
Jaime--- Great job digging up the pics! Frank and I were talking about this last night and he's really into the idea too. I explained to him the buyout option and he thought it would be so cool for us to pay for our guests hotel accommodations. Not sure if we could swing it, but damn, it's such a neat idea!! I emailed them last night and can't wait to get a response. Jackie, I read thru the buyout options on the website. It mentioned an 18 room minimum and the 30 room option also. You mentioned in your post about the guests paying about $1660 for their stay there. Can you explain how you this works? One thing I wondered was if we weren't able to get all the rooms filled, then what happens with the contract? Also, if we had to pay a percentage upfront for the buyout, when guests book, does the money we paid for their room then go toward our own expenses? Any info you could share would be wonderful!!! The 80's ultimate party song: "My Sharona!" The Knack (admit it you guys---- you're hearing it in your head and dying to jump up and do the awful white people dance of the 80's!!!!!)

Supercute Favor Boxes
MikkiStreak replied to MsShelley's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
This may sound tacky, but my first thought was to get some little corked bottles and add some sand from the beach where you're getting married and some miniature shells. Then you could tie a hand-written thank you note like a scroll, and it would be a reminder of their trip to your wedding. (That's also on the assumption you are getting married on the beach and that your attendee list isn't going to be so huge that hand-writing thank you's woudln't be an option...) -

I came across their website and it's exactly the environment I would like. We had originally planned on an AI with Iberostar resorts, but the more I think about it, the more I like the small environment where everyone can interact with each other consistantly. You can PM me or email: [email protected] Thanks! And also, spill the beans! We want details!!! We're all wedding hungry around here!!! (And you'll get a bunch of other people begging for photos too!)

OMG! I'm sitting here scrolling slowly down and then I see it---- YOU HAVE MY DREAM DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fell in lust with that dress the first time I saw it!!! You've got to tell me about it---- is it light-weight? Where did you get it? I haven't been able to find it photographed in any magazines lately and I couldn't remember who the designer was.... Everything is amazing! Do you have a template for the water bottles and what paper you used for them? that was another idea I wanted to use with our koozies... Absolutely gorgeous work!! Love the OOT bags!

I decided it just didn't feel right for me, but it is a beautiful resort! One of these days I'll get my stuff together and post a review... Thank you Jaime! That was so sweet of you! I have my hesitations about the Lindo/Maya too--- which is why we'd started leisurely looking at other places too. Dreams is one of the resorts we're considering too, but so far, Azul Beach is our favorite that we've reconsidered! I was just thinking about the get-together just a few minutes ago... I think I might have to dig up the thread and revive it! I'm excited that all of us are trying to meet up!

His other sister Nia and their mom were excited too, but more calm about it. When his mom read that we were planning for January 2008, she stopped reading and just looked at us and said, "you mean I have to wait that long?" His brother John was the funniest tho--- He and his wife sat at the table with my sister and her husband. John and Rollin got so engrossed in their conversation that everyone kept grabbing John's arm and pointing to that part of the menu and telling him to read it. After the third attempt, he read it, half turned to us and said, "Congratulations" and then turned around and kept talking. (ADD, yes...) -

I wonder if Jaime even called anyone, or if she just told us!! haha We kept it secret for 2 months when we got engaged. Not one word to anyone--- I thought I was going to die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, our birthdays are 4 days apart, so we threw a surprise "birthday" party and invited everyone in the family and our friends. I made a custom menu for the restaurant with photos of both of us when we were kids and laminated the menu. At the very bottom, I included a note thanking everyone for coming to celebrate our engagement. They totally freaked out... It was a lot of fun! -
So what is proper?
MikkiStreak replied to MsShelley's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I, personally, don't want FI to see the dress at all because I want the complete surprise reaction when he sees me in it for the first time. But knowing me, my enthusiasm may get the best of me and I'll wind up showing him anyway... -
