  1. I like the second one---- it draws the attention upward and also gives more definition in the waist. Great job on the 15!!!
  2. Happy birthday Lisa! Now we'll definitely have something to toast with our margaritas on Thursday!!! Hope James spoils you like crazy today!!!
  3. Jason is getting married there in July, I believe. And Lisa is getting married there in August. Those are the only 2 I know of that are coming up soon....

I'm sure it's some glitch that won't let you put more than 2 items in the cart.... I emailed them regarding samples awhile back---- they aren't the greatest about responding to emails, but it might have been due to some type of turnover in that position. The person the email was addressed to was not the person who responded...
  5. Go to the Mercado!!! It's pretty cool! It's about 10 blocks from the Riverwalk, but still do-able. When you're on the Riverwalk, there's a great little Mexican restaurant with an outdoor cafe that I can't remember the name of, but it's awesome food! Definitely do the Riverwalk boat tour and if you can, do it as the boat dinner! It's fun and informative. Oh yeah--- if you have time, definitely go see some of the missions! They are amazing!!! The Alamo is right next to the Riverwalk, and it's really neat too with some pretty gardens/ponds! Be cautious about some of the hotels right around the Riverwalk---- they can get kind of nasty---- If there's any way you can swing staying in a hotel *on* the Riverwalk, you'll be much better off!!!
  6. Yea--- the forum is back!!! Thank God work has been busy or else I would have pulled my hair out from withdrawals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the technical side---- I noticed if I clicked on an avatar photo, it would give me an error message. Also, a lot of photos in the PicGallery are gone from people's planning stuff. And, when I tried to use "Quick Upload" it showed the link text in the message box, but when I "Pose Quick Reply", the photo never appeared. Hope your hand gets better soon and glad they could give you some vico/hydrocodein for the pain!!! Thanks for getting the forum back up and going!!
  7. Sol, that's amazing! It has such a natural beauty with the beach and the jungle-feel on the rest of the property! I really like it!!!
  8. We've had a lot of negative responses---- ***My oldest brother makes twice as much as we do and has half the living costs, but he can't afford it because he flies all over the country for special events in his in-law families. ***My other brother won't go because he's too irresponsible to afford it. He bitches about paying $300/mo child support. ***My parents can't attend (age/health). I can tell my dad isn't happy that we're getting married away from his area. ***FI's oldest sister definitely won't even entertain the idea of going even tho she is a 30 year union employee of SBC and money is only an issue when she wants it to be. ***FI's other sister will probably back out at the last minute on the grounds that things like having HBO/Showtime are more important than saving for our wedding. ***My aunt sent us a letter basically saying we should have the wedding closer to my parents and that if we're not married in the Church, she won't attend. It happens to all of us. This is why I'm a huge advocate of being very cautious about who you invite---- be prepared for the responses you'll get from people because they might surprise you with how good they are or how nasty & rude they are...
  9. Jaime--- I'm glad he found the issue and is on the path to getting things corrected for you. Have you thought about presenting him with your CareNow and herbalist bill? Never hurts to ask, and his offer to pay for the antibiotics was a small token because I'm sure he knows the kind of out-of-court law settlement he could be subjected to if you really pushed the issue...
  10. You'd provide the artists, we'd have the musicians--- what an ecclectic sounding party that would be!!! Jackie- One more question: Is there a cancellation period for the room block? Like at most hotels, you pay a deposit and if you cancel before a certain timeframe you can get part/full refund of the deposit... Or, do you pay the deposit at the same time you sign a contract for the room block and then you're just locked in?
  11. Hey Jaime, they have a link also for general pricing if you can't do the buyout. When I emailed Adam, I also asked about that because from our initial headcount, I see about 13 rooms that could be booked, which is still 5 short of the 18 minimum. From what I saw, the general pricing for a Standard room was the same as the individual price for the breakfast/bar package. I'm curious what it would be like without a buyout tho---- would prices increase for wedding things? Would there be time limits? How would it work for doing a reception around the pool if there were non-wedding guests who wanted to swim, etc...? Hopefully we'll hear back soon and get a better feel for all of these options... Also, don't worry yet---- we really only thought there would be about 20 people with interest in going with us and we've had 40 people say they are planning to attend. Granted, you never know and it could go either way, but I think people will surprise you!
  12. Oh yeah---- our flowergirl will carry a mini-sombrero turned upside down with rose petals to throw. If we get a ring bearer who could walk with her, I'll probably make a banner for them to carry down the aisle that says "Here comes the bride!" or something like that... (I saw that somewhere, but I don't remember if it was from someone here, The Knot, or in one of the wedding magazines I've become addicted to). Also, my dad makes the world's best fudge! (I kid you not, everyone who has ever tried it says so too and beg me to make it all the time) So, since neither of my parents can attend the wedding, I'm going to make dad's secret fudge recipe, my mom's oatmeal bars and my almond sugar cookies to give out as favors to everyone. We might also burn a CD of FI's mother's last performance for all our guests. And that's all I'm thinking of right now... (see what happens when you have 2 years to plan a wedding?!?!)
  13. Hi Jackie--- Definitely! You've been really helpful sharing information with Jaime and I both! PF is definitely inching to the top of my list of options very quickly!!!
  14. When you reserved the 18 room block, is there a specific room type that the guests will have? Or, will they be scattered throughout the different room types? (BTW--- Thanks for answering so many of our initial questions! It's so nice to have somone farther along in their planning process for Playa Fiesta on here and so helpful about providing us with info!)
  15. Wonder if it has something to do with the VIP? I've noticed a bunch of people have lost their banners --- just scroll up and you'll see Christa, Lisa and others have lost theirs too...
  16. Ann, Congratulations to both you and Paul! I read your review and the wedding sounds like it was a wonderful experience for you both and your guests! I'm so glad everything went well... (at least, outside of the Dreams experience!) Welcome back and we can't wait to see the rest of the photos! The portrait Leigh posted is beautiful! You looked amazing on your wedding day, despite not feeling well... The guest photos you posted earlier were great too! The fire dancers looked absolutely amazing! You both definitely gave your guests the VIP treatment with a wedding on a private island and fire dancers!!! Maria
  17. We're thinking anywhere between 30-50 for ours and hoped to keep it around $10K. We want to spoil our guests and WOW! them as much as possible, but without breaking the bank. Wow, you're 8 months out and already have 22 rooms booked! That's impressive! Are you and your FI staying just 5 days there and then honeymooning elsewhere? Can people stay longer than the 5 days for the same rate it they want? We have some guests who want to stay a full week or more.
  18. We'll do one per unit: Meaning, 1 per family or 1 per single + date. We have a couple single family members who will room up with cousins to share expenses and in situations like that, each single in a double room would get their own bag.
  19. Thanks Jackie! I saw your estimated expenses above.... how many guests do you think you'll wind up having for that price range? Maria
  20. Anyone else notice all the banners are gone for Senior and Elite members? Only the MoTM and Moderators still have their banners. Damnit! I posted like crazy to go from 500 to 750 to get that blue banner back!!! Has another change been made regarding what it takes for the banners?
  21. Wow, I'm liking this place more and more everyday!!! It seems very reasonable. We went to brunch with FI's family yesterday we mentioned that we were definitely going to change the location from the Iberostar resorts and instead have everything with a boutique hotel. When we told them the approximate cost for their stay for 5 days, they were really surprised and happy to hear how reasonable it is!
  22. Jackie-- Is it like other room blocks where you (the couple) pay a specified deposit on each room in your block and when the rooms are booked that dollar amount is then used for your own expenses?
