Odd that I would miss it because the entire rest of the store is arranged just like every other Safeway. GRRRR.. Yes, wine & beer are available, but no liquor. And then the thought translated to Costco...how can I not buy premium liquor in large quantities for a great price?? Yeah, well, gotta travel home to Cali for that one. One of my good friends in the OC has promised to send me a Costco sized bottle of Ketel One for my bday, but that's not till July!!! Same here---- In the "dry" cities, they don't even sell beer/wine in grocery stores. When I first moved here, there was a grocery store right out back of my place. After moving and unpacking all day, I ran over there for a bottle of wine. Wandered thru that damn store and couldn't find it. I asked the clerk where the wines were and he said "Garland is dry, ma'am". I asked him what that meant and he gave me a look like I must have spent my life wearing a safety helmet, if you know what i mean. At least Plano is wet, so we can get beer/wine. But we still have to drive 30 minutes to get our liquor, and we're shutdown on liquor on Sundays too. When we go, we look like lushes because we stock up on everything and walk out about $100-150 lighter in the bank account.

The new school is good, but I hate to say I think this is my last year teaching....I am going to try to get hired on as a school counselor. I have been writing me thesis and graduate in May, which is one of the reasons I have been MIA. How are things with you? Do you have a date set yet?? school counselor---- like a guidance counselor? cool----sounds like it would be really different from teaching, but maybe with less stress and not so long of hours for grading, meetings, etc... Things up here are good. No date set yet. I'm finally in a peaceful, fairly stress-free environment now--- so I'm not looking forward to having that change by planning a wedding. Altho, now that I watch waaaayyyyy too much Discovery Channel, it might be interesting to watch human behavior and relate it to wild animal rituals. (yes, my mind is a very strange place to be....) hehe

This whole state controlled liquor store thing here in WA sucks though. Liquor costs way more here than I'm used to paying. A fifth of good vodka is at least $25 We have cheaper prices, but we have time & location limitations. We have to drive 20 minutes to Dallas or Addison to buy liquor, and they stop selling after like 9pm or midnight (can't remember which, because we (obviously) start buying & drinking WAYYYY earlier than that! hehe...) WHY DID I MOVE HERE?!?! God damn dry counties....

I've acquired many a buzz using that mix with our vodka.

  6. We just buy the appletini mix (Rose's Cocktail Infusion). Tastes great. If we really want to get a strong apple flavor, we use it with apple vodka. That will make ya pucker!
  7. Martha, where you been? I was wondering if you were going to pop back up on here! How's the year going so far in the new school? Welcome back! (unless I've been blind and have just missed your posts. in which case, ignore me or pat me on the back for typing so well with my stunted vision!

I stopped and answered the phone and talked for awhile. For 3 days my cat attacked me in the middle of the night, just *howling* with her cries. I couldn't figure it out... And then I realized that when I got distracted by the phone call, I had emptied her box and forgot to fill it back up....
  9. Frank's sister has one for their cat and it seems to work really well for them. I, on the other hand, scarred my cat for life by trying to use one of them. The idea that this machine scooped her shit after she was done freaked her out so much that she decided to find her own bathroom in the corner of the dining room on the carpet.
  10. By "cookie cutter".... do you mean, someplace where 2 people stand in front of guests and commit themselves to each other for life, and then follow up with maybe some drinks, dinner and dancing? I think every wedding is a cookie cutter mold---- just that each bride puts their own decoration on it.
  11. when you double-click on the image, a new window opens. On the "Pictures" tab, select 're-color' and another window opens where you can't change each of the colors on the image. This also depends on what file type you're using. Actual photos can't be re-colored. But the image you posted above looks like a clipart image, which should allow you to re-color.

I second Paula's nomination!!! She's also done a lot in the past with helping brides to design their logos & even their tattoos! MODS: Can we include the request that when nominating someone, the person include the specifics on why they're nominating? There are a lot of posts I miss during the month, and if we're supposed to nominate & vote based on someone's contribution to the forum then it would really help to see what the person has offered/done to make a better vote.
  13. I thought they just got engaged? Did they elope? Or am I *really* behind??

Well, when they finally beat the whole game, the screen said "YOU ARE A FAG!" hehehe, I love that episode---- especially when the dad comes out and wants to show them how to play a real guitar and the kids are all like "that's so gay".... and when he gets onto the Guitar Hero and plays it for real, all the chords are wrong and he sounds like shit. 15. Isn't that like the person who says they aren't an alcoholic because they only drink outside of the home? Addictive behavior has more to do with what happens because of the addiction. Example: a person who drinks infrequently could still be an alcoholic because they spend their money on alcohol instead of bills, or their behavior changes while drinking (like sleeping around when drunk, when they normally wouldn't sleep around when sober, or blowing off family events when they normally wouldn't do that when sober).
  16. When women read this, we think "shit, this could get really out of hand easily and jeopardize health!" Sadly, when men read it, they think "You mean I could get PAID for this"

It's one of those things that isn't mentioned in documentation and you have to really dig to find how to undo it. I stumbled across it when I hit the wrong sequence of keys at home. Took me awhile I remember what I pressed to undo it. the person who sits across from me at work is one of those 'gossipy' types whose always whispering.... when she really drives me batty, I'll do this when she heads out for lunch. and then I just sit there chuckling and when she leaves to grab the IT guy to fix it, I'll undo it while she's gone.
  19. I hate video games. My ex used to play Everquest 24/7 and it got to the point where he just wouldn't leave the house. He sat in the computer room, smoking pot and playing that damn game all day & night. With him, there wasn't a way to fix it. On the rare occasion when I could pry the keyboard from his fingers to go out, he was so moody and going thru "withdrawals", that I relented and started going out on my own, with my own friends. Here's a little passive aggressive "fun" for you tho: Go to his computer when he's in the bathroom. Press these keys simultaneously: Control, Alt, and the down arrow key. This will shift his PC screen upside down. Good luck to him on figuring that one out!!!
  20. We'd both been wanting the mixer. He was dying to give it to me early too, because I spent 4 days baking the desserts for his family's Christmas Eve celebration. The entire time, I kept cussing out the crappy little handheld mixer and hoping it wouldn't die because the motor in it kept "screaming"...
  21. It's manipulation, plain and simple. Either she wants attention, even the negative kind, because she' miserable; or, she is so selfish she really doesn't focus on anything except her son. Either way, don't let yourself be baited. Blow off as many of the comments, rudeness as you can---- as long as it doesn't impose on you, your life, and your role to your FI. When it crosses that boundary, it's time to step up and bump her down a few notches.
  22. I like giving better than receiving, so that's going to be my list. - for FBIL: I gave the cigar freak a really cool humidor - for FMIL & my folks: Framed photo of me, Frank and Audrey - for Frank: a Citizen Eco-Drive with channel diamonds around the outside (and other small stuff) - for Audrey: Ipod nano (and other stuff) - for my sister & BIL: MPIX book I made from their trip to Alaska this year for their 25th anniversary Favorite that I received: the Kitchen Aid "pro" mixer with accessories from Frank.
  23. Well, it's possible that if she got them late last week, she could have gotten some really strong discounts on them because of the holidays. I went shopping on Friday and was able to get a leather jacket for Frank for 75% off. Quantity of presents---- yea, for a working relationship---- even if she got an amazing discount, it's a little strange to buy SO much for someone you have contact with only at work. Signing of the card---- yep, I'd be offended too. Even if I don't know the spouses name, I would still refer to them in the note.... like "congrats to you and your wife, can't wait to meet Aiden!" So that would rub me the wrong way too. As for response: If you send them back, this lady is going to think you're "threatened" by her. If you write a thank you note, it brings you into her reality. Since Brian sees her thru work, then he can thank her in person. I'd leave the thank you note for only you to write. Be polite, be gracious, and keep the gifts. Even tho that's the logical way to approach this, I'd still be tempted to sign the thank you note just from you and Aiden since Brian can say thank you in person when he sees her at work. Nothing like driving home a point!
