Hi! While I am not a photographer, I am a bride that was recently married at Aventura Spa Palace (Dec 07). Here is a link from my photos from our wedding: Home As you can see the sun did set behind the resort, not over the ocean. However the colors in the sky were beautiful. Keeping in mind the sun sets earlier in December than June, we had our ceremony at 2:30 followed by cocktail hour from 3-4 and did pictures between 4-5 when the sun was setting. I hope this helps.....

Moon palace
About2beMrsMartin replied to annouska's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I got married this past December at Aventura Spa Palace, Moon's sister resort. The resort is obviously different but the wedding packages are identical. See my comments below Quote: Originally Posted by annouska Hi everyone, I am getting married next year july09 at the moon palace. I havnt booked it yet as they havnt got 09 prices out yet in the uk for summer time. Just wondering if anyone else is getting married there or has been married there. If so did you have a cocktail party and private reception? I had a cocktail party beachside and a private buffet reception in one of the ballrooms Did you choose everything you wanted for your wedding when you got to the resort or before? I did alot of my planning with my wedding coordinator before we got to the resort- they work with you via email. It was especially nice because if I had an idea, I'd email it along and they'd say if it was possible or not. Could you bring your own music? As in an Ipod or Cds? yes I'm not sure about live music Did they have favours on offer? No If you have any information I would be most greatful Its harder doing things from the uk. Thanx -
Happy Birthday to Michelle (About2beMrsMartin) !

Thank you all SO much for the birthday wishes..... And to think i was on the forum in the AM and missed this post, because i am busy tying all loose ends together for our wedding next week. Let the count down begin. -
Ok- my FI and I decided to get legally married in the US and do the religous ceremony in Mexico. We went to apply for US marriage license today and the clerk said we might need to bring a copy of our license with us to Mexico. The problem is we get married on a MOnday and leave Tuesday for Mexico- so there is no way I can get a certified copy of our license? Two questions: I am doing the vow renewal package- why would the resort want a copy of my license? dont you think a photocopy would do? Do I need to for to qualify for the "honeymoon package and perks?? Thanks.

I've viewed this thread a couple of times and noticed you have some questions with Moon Palace. I am an Aventura Palace bride- They are "sister" resorts, so I thought I'd give you my input and impressions so far (being that my wedding is a little over 3 weeks away!!) I first spoke to a palace resort WC based in Miami- they answered my general questions and if they couldn't, they forwarded them to the site WCs. I didn't speak to the site WC (who will be at the wedding) until about 2 months prior to our arrival. That said, some of the answers you are getting now won't make sense and might not even apply to what actually happens. As I said Aventura is NOT Moon Palace, but we are having a private reception, in a ballroom, and they will be providing a dance floor- we are also bringing our Ipod for reception music and they will provide DJ speakers. My advise..... push your WC harder for what you want. If you want a private function with dancing, they should be able to accomodate that.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I asked the resort and the WC said "standard" lighting- she keeps pushing the cocktail hour outdoors and the reception indoors- but we don't want that. I inquired about what "standard" means, but have not heard back yet....I've been trying to email the WC with ideas to make sure we are on the same page and to get price quotes to see if my ideas were do-able. The flood lights seem like the most practical, but the lanterns will probablly add more ambiance?

I don't know why i just realized this, but the sun will be setting around 5pm when i get married in December. Of course I chose to get married in Mexico among many reasons, because of the beautiful atmosphere. So unless it is a monsoon, I want our reception outdoors. The reception is scheduled to start 3:30pm and go into the evening....does anyone have any suggestions as to lighting the area? I plan on using candles as my centerpieces, but I was thinking about how to illuminate the entire area designated as the reception (dance floor, food, etc) From what the WC told me it's a big concrete courtyard- basically a blank canvas and i am at a loss of ideas?

Tanning advice and deals on where to tan?
About2beMrsMartin replied to brigopens's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I am also thinking about tanning before I head off to Mexico, too. But I wasn't how early I should begin- I jsut want a nice color, but not a full blown tan. I've heard that the tan could look fake in the photographs I know that in my area (northern NJ) I have seen ads for Hollywood Tans offering $19.99 for one month unlimited membership...they are located around the US, also. -
