The more i learn about photoshop, the more i want raw files. At events, I love capturing great moments. But often the picture will be too dark because we are outside or in a poorly lit room. So i want to take these pictures where the expressions are great & improve the quality of the image. The class is for duke students & staff. They have a summer program with a bunch of technology classes. I'm also taking illustrator & dreamweaver. I started learning just by looking tips up on the internet & playing around with it. Then i bought a Scott Kelby book after I got CS3. The main problem was that I didn't understand many of the basics. I'd adjust my levels & curves, but I didn't know what I was actually doing. So this class was great to get a simple explaination and understand when a picture needs what. I really think it will give me the understanding i need to start improving my editing. once I get more comfortable with it, I might post some stuff on photo.net for a critique. or let the photographers here critique me if they promise to be nice Scott Kelby, I think I've seen a couple of his tutorials before. Although photoshop some days confuses the h-e- double hockey sticks out of me it's such an amazing program. I know I'm not using it to it's full capabilities. That's why i got a DSLR to shoot in RAW as well. I really hope I made the right choice with the Nikon D40 though.... You're so lucky to have some classes available to you. I've searched and there really is nothing in this area which seems like a good value. I also need to learn the basics about tone curves, histograms, depth of field, aperture etc. I tend to be a hands on learner, the books confuse me. I would love to look at your photos. I won't critique bad, I only like to point out the good Quote: Originally Posted by TammyB BTW, Morgan you should start posting a before and after pictures. I wonder if there are any online classes worth looking into. Maybe you and Morgan can give all us amateurs (not incl the professionals on here) tips.
  3. Right on Martha!! Congrats, Noah James is a beautiful name for your son!!!!
  4. Jennette, you looked amazing!! Your photographers did an awesome job. I just spent the last 15 minutes feeling like a creeper looking at all your photos! Their Trash-the-invite ideas were totally cool. There are so many faves it would be hard to decide which ones to print. Glad your day went well and congrats again!!! Hope you stick around the forum still, now that you're a Mrs!!
  5. Oh darn Morgan I just erased most of my bookmarks for camera reviews. I still have this on but he is very partial to Nikon and cannon Recommended Cameras
  6. Good thread Morgan. I have been researching DSLR's so much lately and I finally decided on the Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm lens (incl in package) and the 55-200mm VR lens. I did alot of research on slickdeals too haha, gosh i love that website. What kind of hobbiest photography are you looking into? I have more of a nature/portrait type interest. How did you find your photoshop class? I've self taught myself and I'm thinking I may be missing out on a "real" lesson
  7. Great review Jackie. Good point about the heavier dresses and the tide. I remember in PV I was having problems with our TTD session being sucked in!! LOL Did you get a teaser at all? I'm excited to see your slideshow!
  8. Ooooh I'm excited to see the progress! I'm such a shelf junkie! That's great that you and James can do that type of stuff. It's good bonding time too I imagine!
  9. What a scary situation t be in, I'm so sorry Rachel I imagine it's tough seeing someone you care about so much in a different state. That whole keeping up with the yard sounds kind of OCD and that's totally stressful. I have OCD tendencies and I stress BIG TIME about them - that's why i mentioned it. I'll keep your aunt in my thoughts. I hope the Dr/neurologist has some reasoning behind this side affect.
  10. Abbie I have the same top as you but in grey instead of green That cake is so cool!!! And I love the bedding set, nautica - very nice!
  11. Thanks for the update, I was curious how she was doing as well. Weird, I thought the meds were supposed to relax her because she was stressing?
  12. Hey girls, got anothr coupon code 4MyC for 15% off! Woohoo!!!
  13. I'm excited for your call back today!!!!!

I wish they sold that by the liter! And no, we didn't tip...but I did take pictures because it was so monumental for me...LOL I totally remember that thread jamy! I can't believe you took a photo of sonic LMAO you're too cute! Whenever we go we tip them they always wear roller blades and I think it's talent when you can carry 2 ice creams on skates!
  15. Lisa you are ADORABLE! Those are cute painting photos to show your future son one day. That room is cool, that window is awesome and with that color the lighting will be great. have you thought of a theme or anything for the room?
  16. Great job Tammy. I like the last one in the first post with the bride and groom kissing, so sweet. I love macro photography too! It really interests me. You definitely have a photographers eye!
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMY!!!! Have a wonderful day at the beach! Love ya girl
  18. WOW! That is so awesome! I'm crossing my fingers you get selected. We need the power of the forum LOL
  19. Cute photos, congratulations! You look so happy and radiant!
  20. Creepy! I don't know, would they come and ask your permission to take photos if it was your mortgage company or even a real estate agency. Seems very odd to me.
  21. I so need to read up on this thread. I'm posting so i can have it in my subscriptions. I've been very interested in these pills
  22. Did anyone mention a strapless bra? That may help with trying on certain dresses, I know that and my camera were my savior!
  23. Great photos from the "babymoon" lol. We missed you Sarah!! The ones of you and Tammy are HOT! Seriously you girls look great! Interesting decor indeed, those cupbords/shelves in the kitchen area are neat. I've never really seen anything like that before. I really like the patio/deck!!! I could wake up every morning to a gorgeous sunrise for sure. Welcome back!
  24. Enjoy your legal ceremony today Morgan! Congrats!!!
  25. Yeah our TTD shoot was at sunrise the day after our wedding so I just hopped in the shower and styled my hair like I do every day. I figured it's going to get soaked anyway. As for make up I did my natural make up too. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to those type of things. Definitely wear waterproof mascara though!
