  1. I like #2 since your E-Ring (which is absolutely gorgeous, by the way) has so much bling. Then get the eternity ring later down the road so you have another ring to look forward to getting!
  2. I think I've narrowed down the songs for the wedding ceremony. However, I'd still like to incorporate Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" song. When should I play this? During the sand / unity candle ceremony or after the recessional while everyone else is leaving or someplace else altogether? Here's my rather traditional song line-up so far: Prelude “Air on a G String†- Bach Seating of the Mothers “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring†- Bach Bride’s Processional “Canon in D†- Pachelbel Lighting of the Unity Candle / or Sand Ceremony “Guitar Concerto in D. Major, Largo†-Vivaldi --OR— “Romance in F†-Beethoven --OR— “Somewhere over the Rainbow†- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole Recessional “Spring from the Four Seasons†- Vivaldi --AND??-- “Somewhere over the Rainbow†- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
  3. So, I was originally going to just go the Unity Candle route since we'll be getting married in the chapel at EDR. However, the sand ceremony idea has been bumping around in my head. Is it strange to have a sand ceremony if we're getting married in a chapel (yet one that's one the beach)? If so, is there a way to incorporate our mother's lighting of the candles before they're seated? Or can they do something with the sand before they're seated? So many little details to think of that I hadn't thought of before!

I hear very good just don't remember what someone suggest before. Thanks for the help I'm working on this as I type! Here's what I plan on using as our program - I have to send them to my invitation girl this week! I'm basically sticking with the format that the minister sent to me. I just can't figure out if I want to do the sand ceremony, though, or the Unity candle thing. I'd like to do the sand ceremony since it's unique, but we'll be getting married in the chapel. I'm also trying to figure out where to stick in the Somewhere over the Rainbow song. Should I do this during the sand ceremony/unity ceremony or after the recessional? 5. I just got mine altered last week and was shocked at my price. My dress was a little under $1k, yet my alterations cost $450!!! I'm just getting it hemmed and the bustle done and the shoulder straps altered a bit - that's it. And, there is no lace or sequins or beading!! Needless to say, I was shocked as well!!

What should I wear?!?! I absolutely LOVE jeans (b/c I think that's what I look best in), so if you like jeans, maybe a pair you love and a cool top?
  7. I'm stumped and don't know what to wear! If anyone has pictures of their bridal shower that they didn't post yet, I'd love to see what you wore so I can get some ideas! Mine will be in the beginning of April.

As much as I'd like to recoup some of the money back, I don't think I could part w/ the stuff that I'll wear on my wedding day. Overall, I think we're about $5k over our initial budget for the wedding, too, but I'm not going to let it bother me. This will be one time in our life that we can really splurge; hopefully after this, I'll go back to being a fiscally savvy person! You can always hope, right?

I'm getting mine done at David's ... but I got a quote from a more select bridal salon and they said $75 for the bustle ... so I guess the different alterations add up -- but I am still floored by that high cost for you... I don't think the work is too intricate. Heck, the dress is very simple - there's no lace or beading, either! I think I just didn't do my research beforehand....I just wish that the shop was more honest about the alterations up front. When I told them my dress budget, they should have shown me dresses actually in that budget w/ everything included! With these alteration prices (and the extras, the veil, the headpiece, and the bra), I was $1000 over my budget!!! And my dress budget was supposed to be less than $700!!

  12. Tami - your dress is so beautiful and I am completely envious of the price you paid for the alterations!!! I went for my first fitting on Friday and was totally shocked w/ a price tag of $441.00!!!! I expected it to be around $100, especially since all they need to do is alter the shoulder straps, do the hem, and bustle it!!
  13. I would go w/ it.....they're beautiful lyrics and if he came up w/ it, it will mean so much to him to dance w/ you to it. Awwwhhh!!!

  15. I scheduled my first microdermabrasion appointment for the middle of March. The lady who does my electrolysis is giving me a free microdermabrasion session as a wedding gift!! I'm getting married at the end of April. I didn't want to schedule it too close to my wedding in case things went awry! But I'm hoping I didn't schedule it too far out in case the results are great! For those of you that have had it, how have your experiences been? I'm planning on getting a facial on the morning of my wedding, too. Do you think that's a bad idea?
  16. I tried ALL of the Victoria's Secret scents - I got some kind of gift sample with tiny sizes of each one - I didn't like any of them! Clinique Happy is a nice perfume, though!
  17. Thanks! I need the info b/c I have yet to find a perfume that my FI loves! Some guys have a scent that drives them wild and I'd like to find that signature scent that does it for my FI for me!
  18. Not a dumb question at all. I just sent my final list of wedding details (flowers, decorations, reception and private party meal choices, spa services) to Monica today, in fact! I may be wrong, but I believe you have to make your final selections on most things 60 days ahead of your wedding. I've chosen the sites for my ceremony and reception a few months ago. I didn't know they will make our menus - that's a nice touch. As for what we're taking w/ us - we're taking as little as possible. We'll have our OOT bags and stuff for them, but we're getting all of the other decorations there.
  19. What perfume did you wear on your wedding day that drove your FI crazy and always reminds him of your or your wedding day? Why do you or why does he like it?

Hope this helps! Hey Shannon! Wow - you've got a lot going on, but it sounds like you have it all under control! That's a really good idea about the white linens on the tall tables w/ the bows. I remember seeing Shea's pictures of her Mexican party and I think she had those decorations. However, I thought they were included, but I guess it wasn't. :-( I also like the rose petals on the tables! Thanks!

They were only $25USD each. They will also move these from Cocotal to Gaviotas if you ask. Great idea! Thanks! And $25/each isn't bad. When did you select what you wanted? I have the list of decorations, but I don't know where to start b/c I don't know how everything will look!
  22. Hello and Welcome! And I'm happy to hear that there's another April 2008 EDR bride! I'll be getting married there at the end of April. We're going to have the mariachi band play at our Mexican cocktail party welcome reception and then just bring CDs to play songs for our private function after dinner. We'll also bring a CD w/ music for the ceremony, as well.
  23. What decorations have or are you getting for your various EDR events? We're going to have the Mexican Cocktail party, the "free" dinner reception at El Cocotal, and then a mini-private party at Gaviotas for the cake and dancing after the dinner. Do I need to decorate anything or is it pretty enough as is? I was just going to get minimal decorations for the chapel, our wedding location.
  24. I think I found it..... KHR Online Store El Dorado Royale, A Spa Resort:Spa Services For those that have had the services, which body wrap, facial, and massage would you recommend?
  25. I can't find the thread where one of the EDR brides had posted the spa and other amenities choices. All I have is Lomas' website link, but that doesn't seem to offer as many as that attachment at I'd seen. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I've got to select my flowers, spa services, etc. now - I've been slacking on that!
