  1. How fun! (well...except for the needle stuff!) I'm glad everything else went so smoothly and that you had a great time!
  2. Looks like you all had fun! I love the shot of you standing at the door with the curtain blowing!
  3. If I had it to do all over again - I would buy a really nice CZ and put it in a nice setting. But I'm not into diamonds. They didn't really have nice CZs when I was married almost 11 years ago. I am just not into diamonds. If you are not either - definitely go with CZ - you can always upgrade later if you want.
  4. Hi, Will you be meeting them in person? If so, I always suggest seeing at least 2-3 complete weddings - not just the "best of" pictures from various weddings. You spend your entire day with this person for the most part so just make sure that you get an good vibe and think that you will enjoy having them around all day. I think those are the two most important things to consider. Other than that, just be sure of the package specifics... -how much coverage will you need/get -what products are included? album/prints/CD -how payments are made -turn around time for photos/albums/etc
  5. Awww....that is sweet. I haven't met Leigh yet, but hope I will get to meet her sometime soon.
  6. Hey, I second that! That is what I always recommend. I love staying there - and it's perfect for weddings.
  7. Ohmygosh - I'm in love with your dress! And fireworks over the ocean?? I'm not going to be able to stand waiting for your pics!!
  8. Welcome! Ohhhh....I can't wait to see your pictures when you get back!
  9. Welcome - you will get lots of help here!

  11. Hey, I have spent lots of time there (all over - cayes/jungle/mountains/everywhere) - it's my favorite place ever. I have also photographed some weddings there - if you would like to see them just let me know. I will be happy to help you with anything you need (regardless of whether or not you need a photographer) I also know a really sweet Belizean wedding planner there. In fact, I need to tell her about this forum. Feel free to call or pm or email me.
  12. Those prices sound very fair. If you want some really nice, candid shots - try to plan something that you normally do together - or something that you would like to do together. Then you can have your photographer be "paparazzi!" When I do a get to know you session, I send them a questionnaire to complete and I think of an idea and plan a "mini date" for them. If you want to email me, I will be happy to send you a copy of the questionnaire I use. It might help you think of some ideas for what you might want to do.

I wasn't trying to point out flaws at all. I thought I was just offering a simple tip to check what after costs would be before booking. I agree wholeheartedly that sometimes you can luck up and get a really good photographer for a great price where both photographer and client are able to benefit from the situation.
  14. I agree - I would really like to shoot some European weddings, and I'm having trouble finding wedding planners online.
  15. Melissa - those colors are AWESOME!!! I love, love, love them. One of my photgrapher friends is re-doing her website/blog/studio with those colors. I'm jealous! I would have never though of putting them together. This is her blog... Life...I'll take a picture of that.
  16. Hi Erica, Welcome! I'm moving to Virginia this summer so we will be neighbors! lol

  18. My only advice is to be sure of what the after costs are. As someone mentioned above, they could likely add up to the same thing you might be able to pay a better photographer.
  19. Well...nowhere "good" as in a fun, adventurous overseas location. We are going to the Newport News area in Virginia - which I know nothing about. I'm going up at the end of this month to look for a house. Hopefully it will be okay - I think I can have fun no matter where I am. Except maybe North Dakota!! lol
  20. I think your question would depend a lot on what your priorities are as far as photos go and your photographer's style. One thing to consider is whether or not you want traditional photography - spending a lot of time lining people up in groups for shots or whether you want to spend that time allowing the photographer to capture candid, real moments. Most people have a distinct preference.
  21. If you are open to other areas - I could give you lots of advice on Belize. Not only is it smaller, but it is less expensive. Feel free to email or call if you want. September is also low season there so the rates would be even better.
