Yeah, I still giggle when I think of this thread!

I'll try to post some tomorrow, in another gallery.

undergarment question

I assume you're asking me - I got the cotton one, both for hoopskirt and petticoat. I definitely recommend cotton, just b/c it breathes so much better. I had to wear a petticoat during a play once, and it was the polyester/taffeta kind, and I sweated like mad - it was terrible! -
Ok, someone requested that I post some hairstyle pics, so I started a gallery of them in the VBPicGallery. Please let me know if you can't view them. If I understand correctly, we can also only post 10 at a time, right? I can add more later, if you like, and I can start one with "down" hairstyles. If there is a better way to post those pics, feel free to chime in, though! Thx! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...p?do=view&g=91

Some bridal stores actually do carry both hoops and petticoats so you can see the difference. The nice thing is that you can make the hoops smaller, so it really doesn't look like you're the "belle of the ball". I made my hoops pretty small, and then had a small petticoat over that, just to fill out my dress more. That way, I didn't have anything tangling up in my legs, but my dress still had that elegant, "full" look. If I can find a good pic of that, I'll post it. BTW, how do I post just one pic in a thread? I'm sorry, I know, I'm not savvy when it comes to certain internet stuff. I mean, we JUST got a digital camera back in September. I don't have an IPOD, I have no idea how to download music or use one of those Palm things...sometimes I really feel like I'm in the dark ages. Please tell me I'm not the only one who isn't up on technology, lol! -

Ummm, if someone tells me how to do that. Do I upload them to the VBpicimagehost or the VBpicgallery? Or can I just post them all in a thread? How does this work? There's so many choices!! Just kidding, but a tip on what way is best would be great! Thanks!

Aw, thanks - I totally felt like one! Just for one day, lol! I had to have the carriage, too - I ride horses, and that was the one thing I really wanted for our wedding. We had an outdoor wedding, so it made for a great entrance, too! I swear I'm not really a "princess type" in real-life, though, lol... Thanks for the advice, too. I kind of agree about this forum; just wanted to get another perspective.

So, I finally uploaded a siggy pic - wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I chose a pic where you can't see our faces very well, though, b/c I really am paranoid about posting stuff on the internet. (Never done this before!) So, my question is, honestly - am I being silly about that? A lot of the girls on here have tons of photos from their weddings, so it seems ok. Maybe I am just worried about what happened on those other wedding sites - you never know what someone might do with your photo! Anyway, please tell me if I'm just being too paranoid about this.... Thanks!

I'm telling you, the hoopskirt is the way to go! With those, there is nothing between your legs, and you stay way cooler. They have some hoopskirts that are very small, so you don't look like Scarlett O'Hara with a big bell around your waist. (Unless, of course, that's the look you're going for, and then you get the 6-hoop, extended version!) The difference between a petticoat and a hoopskirt is: Petticoat has layers and layers of tulle sewn with polyester satin, with a zip up waist. Hoopskirt has one layer of material (usually cotton), with one or more bamboo hoops sewn in. The good ones have adjustable hoops, and are made of cotton in order to breathe better. The more hoops, the wider the skirt will look. The waist is either zip up or drawstring; mine was drawstring. Here is a link to a hoopskirt. This one looks a bit big, but you can always adjust it, or take out the bottom hoop: Amazon.com: New3 Bone Cotton Hoop Skirt Bridal Petticoat Wedding Gown Slip (130DSC): Apparel Hope that helps! -

Ok, seriously, now my stomach hurts and I have tears.... Ahhh, funny stuff... And Anny (or is it Ana?), if you are nervous about your hair, definitely do a trial - even if it's with someone in your hometown. That way, at least you know if you will like your planned hairstyle. I have tons of hairstyle pics saved on my computer, too, if you need more ideas.

Wow. I really, really hope that was fake. But y'know, I've also seen my share of bad updo's. I personally had a bad one as a BM in a friend's wedding. The bride wanted us all to go to a salon together to get our hair done, so I went, but the girl doing my hair was NOT good at updo's at all, and I ended up with a very weird hairstyle with hair sticking out all over the place. I basically had to re-do it myself back at the hotel! And no, I didn't take scissors to it!

It seems like some sites could care less what people post, for the most part. But if those bad posts got deleted immediately, I think things would clean up in a hurry. Just my opinion!

Bridesmaid Picking Advice
Hummingbird replied to MagsieMexico's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree that "less is more" when it comes to BMs! I also think the idea of a spa day is awesome. A friend of mine just did that - she couldn't choose between friends, so she just had her brother stand up with her as "honor attendant". (They are very close, and it was so sweet!) She also planned a spa day right before the wedding for all of her girlfriends, and it was wonderful just to hang out together. -
What do you want to know from us Married Gals?
Hummingbird replied to NATASHA's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
1. In the end was it worth all the money? Oh, yeah! We wouldn't have changed a thing about our wedding, and it was worth every little hassle leading up to it. But then again, I'm also really detail-oriented. 2. For those who are non-AI how much was your bar tab at the end of the night? Sorry, we didn't have any alcohol besides the toast. We wanted it, but it was one of the battles we lost with my family, who hate alcohol. Long story. 3. (For those people who bought expensive dresses) In the end was it worth it having your dream dress or would it have been just as good in a cheaper version (too late for me! but just curious) I didn't spend a whole lot of money on my dress - I got a great deal on it - but it was still my dream dress. I actually added some beading to it myself, which made it all the more special. Personally, if it's your dream dress, I say go for it! 4. What is the minimum # hours someone should hire a photographer? Depends on your ceremony and reception time. I think 4 hrs at bare minimum, though. Have enough time to get shots before the wedding (of getting ready, with BMs and groomsmen, etc) and then make sure they stay long enough to get cake cutting shots, pics of your guests dancing, etc. I wish we had kept our photographer for longer. She was there before the wedding, but it felt really rushed, and then we moved the cake cutting to earlier during the reception, b/c she was getting ready to leave. We still got great photos, but since then I have watched my friends get married and have lots of fun taking pics before the wedding, and we really didn't get to do that. -

With your long wedding gown, it's sooo easy to trip while holding a glass of wine....ok, sorry, I just think it's really rude to wear a white dress like that to anyone's wedding. And the whole having sex on the envelopes thing?? What kind of friends ARE these?? Yeah, they could make a reality show out of this! (That announcer guy with the deep voice): "In the cutthroat world of New York weddings, will Amy get her dress before Tammy shreds it? Will Bianca book her florist before Tina snatches it away? Find out Wednesday on ABC, 8/7 Central!" Ok, I really need to get a life.

Hummingbird replied to NATASHA's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hi everyone, I am going to chime in with a bit of unsolicitied advice! Hope that's ok....I love threads like these! DH and I loved everything about our wedding, and we did do some things that our family questioned (like learning a choreographed first dance, making our own truffle favors, etc.) But in the end, those were the things that we loved about our wedding. So, if something is really important to you, do it. Don't worry about what other people have done in the past, or what people think you should do, just do the things that actually mean something to you. That, IMHO, is what makes your wedding special. And if you just want to throw traditional stuff out the window and hang on the beach with your friends and family, do that!! The best weddings I have attended were the ones where the bride and groom's personality showed through - and those were also the ones where B&G looked happiest! Oh, and try not to stress out too much the day of the wedding. Allow more time than you think you will need so that you aren't rushing around - nothing is worse than a tight schedule! (Been there, done that!) Oh, and at the reception, take a moment to just stop and look around at everything and everyone. I love remembering being at dinner with my new husband, and just looking around the room taking it all in, thinking "Wow, I can't believe we're finally here, and finally married!" Yes, I really did that. I'm such a sap sometimes. -
I agree - 1 hour is about right. That gives you time to do post-ceremony pics, but isn't so long that guests get annoyed. I have been to some weddings where the cocktail hour is more like 1.5 - 2 hours, and it just drags by. There are only so many celery sticks and little snackies that you can eat before it starts to get boring and you want "real" food!

Or, you could use these: Victoria's Secret - Invisible shaping bra I have heard some brides love them, but I have never personally tried it!
