Sandals Dunns River August Wedding
atjorgensen replied to Lori's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I just switched my wedding location to Sandals Dunns River, but haven't officially booked or contacted the coordinator. Yes, there are some private reception/rehersal dinner options but they are a little pricey, especially with as many people as you have. Im really sorry for all that you are going through. good luck to you and keep us posted on what you find out. -
i have been worried about everyone else the whole time of my planning especially my fmil. my fiance tells me that i need to do what makes us happy an d not worry about anyone else, if they don't like it don't go. i am better about trying to have that attitude. you will get there. just really try to focus on it being more than a vacation....its YOUR wedding!!!

What's your groom wearing?
atjorgensen replied to tvt's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Shane is convinced he should wear a tux for his wedding. Im the one who doesn't care. I really like the tan suits but he said no. my other idea was the chocolate brown tux and he said no to that. oh well if he wants to sweat the little booty he has off oh well right?? LOL I think that it is totally up to you and your fiance. everyone has their opinions but its not everyones wedding. they had their say at their wedding it now its your turn. good luck with your decision!!! -
thanks for your review and sharing your pics!!! congrats on your wedding and im glad everything went well for you!!! you look beautiful. like tammy said, we are leaning towards switching our dw to this resort. it looks great. where was your wedding held?? that is what i am having a hard time trying to figure out besides on the beach where they offer weddings there?? it seems as if the gazebo over looking their waterfall isn't very private as we thought it might be. we have been looking into all of the sandals resorts and so far this is our top pick. we wanted to make sure that there is enough to do for our guests too. some of the reviews i have read say that the "nightlife" isn't great here but i wonder if they are just looking for a wild party instead of entertainment?! thank you again for sharing your experience. if you have any other information or suggestions for us that may help we are very appreciative!!! congrats again!!!

That information is helpful. we are looking to a basic reception since we don't want anything too elaborate. we don't have too many guest coming and we are having a big reception when we get back.

so after all this time of being a dreams cancun bride i pretty sure im switching over to the sandals jamaica side ladies!!! shane and i went to talk to yet another travel agent to get some info on jamaica and it looks like its a go. first of all, that is originally where we were going to get married. we switched because of price and single people going. well, considering ive never been anywhere and shane has only been to cancun once and it was with his long time girlfriend before me, i had a hard time to think that we would be getting married at a place that they went together. i know it may sound petty and immature but as much as i tried not to let it bother me it did. like i told him, it wouldn't be an issue to go there but to get married there to me is different. jamaica is somewhere we both wanted to go and everyone that is going has never been there but most have been to cancun. so here we are trying to make a decision on that. after all this time planning with dreams i start all over. we are looking into the sandals resorts. we like montego bay, dunns river villagio, and grande ocho rios. any advice or info would help. thanks for letting me vent. im off to learn about weddings in jamaica now. LOL

dress dilemma
atjorgensen replied to atjorgensen's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
hey jill. sorry that you are dealing with this too. why do they have to make them to be so damn expensive and easy to fall in love with LOL i refuse to go to davids bridal. they have messed up so much on my friends dresses for her wedding and the one here must be famous for that cuz i hear a lot of that so i would rather not deal with davids although when i went i saw a dress that i liked for $500 but not as much as the one i saw today. i don't know what im going to do. hopefully the kind wedding fairy visits me to tell me what to do. LOL i will keep looking. you should look a little more...maybe by some miracle you will find a dress you can't live without for $400 somewhere else??!!! or maybe your mom will be more supportive. good luck to you. if you love it get it. who cares if you can't afford anything else...you will still look gorgeous, right??haha -
thanks girls. yes it is white gold and i know that gold is very expensive right now and i doubt its going down anytime soon. he is very picky and has expensive taste. he wants no diamonds at all and hates yellow gold. we looked at the tungsten and he liked it but not as much as this ring he has picked out. the tungsten is strong and wont scratch or the design won't wear down like on gold so i thought that would be better but he likes what he likes. the titanium is not an option. those are the ones that can't be cut off. most jewelers won't tell you this but if you smash your finger, it swells, etc it can't be cut thru only melted so pretty much your finger will go before the ring....yeah not reassuring to me at all. i am pretty sure that i am going to get the one he wants anyways but i thought i would ask advice. i guess hes not the only expensive one out there!!! thanks again.

so i was wondering what you guys were paying for rings for your FH. I finally talked shane into looking at wedding bands for him. since he works construction he wasn't going to get one but i wanted him to get one to wear when hes not working or just to have for when he wanted to wear it. so we go looking for rings and i guess i thought $600 would probably be the most i would pay, just cuz i didn't think mens bands were very much. of course the one he loves is $1200!!!! the lady told me she could sell it to me for $799 but i think that is a lot. it is very plain and i don't like it much, but then again i would never want him to be that way with something i like. should i convince him to keep looking or suck it up and buy it?? it is a wedding band so price shouldn't matter right is this a lot to pay thanks ahead of time!!!

Ring Prices
atjorgensen replied to Jackie's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
my ring was around $3000. It is only 1 carat but it is the quality of the diamond that we paid for and they guarantee 100% trade in value. the same ring comes with more carats and he is upgrading to the 3 carat which is $8000 in a couple of years but right now he wanted to pay out of pocket for it instead of on credit so...... i think that for $6000 you can get a great ring. btw you should know better than to think you are getting too personal here....we tell each other everything don't we?!!!!LOL Good luck with ring shopping!!!! -
Pick my dress - HELP PLEASE!
atjorgensen replied to SASSYGIRL's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Congrats on your purchase Sarah!!! I love #2 on you.... it looked great!!! Great price too, that makes it all the more wonderful!!!! -
ok i went and looked at dresses today at a place i haven't been yet. i took my FMIL with me, the problem I think I found a dress but they wouldn't let me take any pictures of it and it is an exclusive of theirs and it is not on their website. It really bothered me so I wanted to know if that was common?? I see a lot of you post pics of your dresses you are considering. I think that it helps to be able to see it after you go to help decide. they told me if i put a down payment then i could take pictures of it. that really sucks. did any of you have a problem with that?? so besides that I think that I found one that i like a lot. well i found 2. one is a destination wedding dress. pretty simple but beautiful. only $250 or so. the other one is gorgeous and I love it. My FMIL loves it. the lady at the store loved it and there were even customers that walked in the door when i tried it on that told me that it looked great on me. i tried on more and everyone said nothing compared to that one. problem $750!!!! That is more than I wanted to spend on a dress. My fiance says so what, buy it but i can't justify it. the other one would be enough. i didn't put a down payment on it cuz there are some other places i want to check first but i feel better that i actually found a couple i like. big step!!! advice anyone
