Thanks for the feedback. We are almost deadset on Caletas but have not officially booked yet. I really want to have the wedding at Caletas but because we are having such a small group and intimate ceremony I feel like I am missng out on some of the things the larger groups are getting (privacy/time). So, I looked into Dazzling Details. I think that your right that you are paying for the name so to speak. I would get less than I would w/ Caletas but feel that it would be a bit more private so I am struggling with that. I just dont know what to do?!?!?!?!

Welcome, I am going to be at the RIU Vallarta the week of June 15. You will really like the RIU it is a great resort. I have been to the RIU Jalisco several times and love it. You are right about the coordinators though they are very slow to respond. They are like on a different time frame, very relaxed so to us it can be very frustrating when you want a quick response. One bit of advice....if you can I would try to have the wedding as late in the day as possible. During May it is extremely hot and humid and it can get pretty uncomfortable if you are not used to the heat. Other than that you are going to have such a great time and a beautiful backdrop for your wedding.

I went to Caletas a few years ago and did take dramamine before we left. Make sure that it is the non-drowsy version. After taking that and having a cocktail I almost fell asleep. I really dont think that the boat ride was that bad. If you are focused on getting sick the entire time chances are you probablly will be. On the ride back I did not take dramamine and did not get sick. One trick that I have learned from getting car sick is to focus on the horizon. It has helped alot so my suggestion would be to sit in the front of the boat if possible.

Painting parasols?
Caletas_bridetobe replied to anaderoux's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I dont know if I would paint the whole thing. The paper it pretty fragile and may try and soak up too much of the paint. If you want the teal details maybe you can just paint some accents of teal like flowers/polka dots or wrap some pretty ribbon on the handle. Another idea would be to mix half teal/half white to cut down on costs. Good luck, I am thinking about using those too and painting just married on them. -
Alternative to a Welcome Dinner??
Caletas_bridetobe replied to amyh's topic in Puerto Vallarta Wedding Vendors
Ive been the the rythms of the night tour in PV. You have a nice candle lit dinner and a theatrical show afterwards with fire danceres. It is really pretty, especially the cruise back when you see the city all lit up at night. -
The Riu Jalisco is the only one with the gazebo. It is really pretty and so is the hotel itself. It looks like Riu Vallarta is more modern looking. The rooms are great!!! They are rather large and have a balcony and mini bar. The beds arent the most comfy but thats ok. I still have not decided on which resort to stay at because we love the Jalisco! We keep coming back every year that we go. I promise, you wont be dissapointed!! I am not sure about the WC, it has been a while since I talked to her. I changed to a Caletas wedding vs the Riu because we are having a really small group.

show us your rings!
Caletas_bridetobe replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
This is a bad shot but mine was created using FI Grandmothers wedding ring. We took out two stones, leaving 4 diamond on each side, cut the ring down the middle and added a beautiful yellow 1.5 ct diamond as the center stone. I am wearing it alone as the ring is already big enough. I love it because it his Grandma was really special to him and it makes me feel great to have a family heirloom. -
Im glad to hear that those worked out. This could also be a good idea for group activities like shopping and site seeing. This was everyone is together and its better than everyone taking a taxi.

Hey I noticed that you guys were concerned about guest transportation to caletas. Taxis can get pretty expensive depending on where your resort is located ($25 one way). I would check your resort to see if they offer a shuttle downtown (some do), or try to rent a van for your guests. Here are a few companies that I found. It is nice because they come pick everyone up and you dont have to worry about everyone getting there. Here are some that i found: Puerto Vallarta Transport VIP Class Tours and Services. Anyone been to the new RIU VALLARTA? I am staying there in June for my wedding? I really love the RIU JALISCO so if it is anything like that I will be happy. Also, there is a great travel review site that posts hotel reviews from people who have recently been there. I find it very helpful when trying to decide a hotel: tripadvisor.com

Ali's Las Caletas wedding
Caletas_bridetobe replied to Ali and Jeff's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Holly cow girl, you have caused quite an uproar! Im glad that your back with pictures, which were beautiful by the way. Did you use one the Caletas photographers? I am having trouble deciding on which one to choose. Thanks -
Ive stayed at the RIU 4 times......LOVE IT. Nuevo Vallarta is about 20mins from downtown and about a $20 taxi ride. However, there is a quaint town 5 mins away called Bucerias. You can actually walk along the beach and get to it if you want. There is a market there and cool beachside bars (Meson Bay) and resturaunts (Marcos).

PV Restaurants
Caletas_bridetobe replied to adeybaby's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Try The Blue Shrimp, its downtown. Great food and atmosphere. Also if you are in Nuevo Vallarta go into Bucerias and try Marcos. They have live music, a great atmosphere and an awesome gift shop. -
I have stayed at the RIU Jalisco 4 times and will keep going back. The resort is beautiful, the staff is great, and for an AI the food is good. I was going to get married there and found the coordinator to be great. If you can get in touch with her she can email you some pictures. I think they use a photographer named Aldo Tovar: http://photoaldotovar.com/. You will have a great time.
