Guests scared to go to Mexico?
Rachelle E. replied to Rkiss's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Yeah, I would say you're FINE. . .esp if you're on the resort property and doing your excursions, day trips etc through them. I've been to Mexico several times, for vacation and work, in several different areas of the country...and I'm ok!! lol! I understand them being a little unsure, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be aware and cautious as you might in any city, work w/ reputable vendors and transportation companies as much as you can for peace of mind. And maybe even tell your guests about all of the happy brides here who have been to and from Mexico and had wonderful weddings! :-) -
How fun!! Glad you girls had a great time. . .bummer about the camera for sure. :-( Champagne can be brutal...so fun to drink...not so fun to recover from! lol!

Lol! Yeah I hear ya! I included my registry info w/ my shower invitations and all that good stuff. . .still ended up with a car-ful of returns/exchanges! But it's fun. There's honestly no way to avoid the duplicates. I only got 1 of the vases I registered for. . .but I got like 3 margarita sets (pitchers, glasses etc) and about 4 food processors!! Lol! I think that's just how it goes. . . ;-)

2nd dress fitting
Rachelle E. replied to TammyB's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Aye-aye cap'n! lol! -
I think the major no-no as far a registries are concerned is to NEVER include that info with the wedding invitation - just comes across as presumptuous and stuff. You CAN include that info in invitations for any bridal showers etc that are thrown for you. I think it's totally appropriate to have that info on your wedding website. . .however, if that's the ONLY purpose of the website (like it doesn't include any other travel info, pics of you guys, stories etc.) then I can see why your FI would be hesitant. Also, in that case, I wouldn't go around telling people to check out the site because if there's only registry info on there, they may feel like it's a big hint or shopping list. BUT that being said, if people are asking where you're registered I think it would be fine to tell them, and let them know the info is in your website as well. I know that seems kind of sketchy and round-about but that's kinda how weddings are sometimes! lol!

2nd dress fitting
Rachelle E. replied to TammyB's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Lol! Good plan! ;-) I guess if it were me, I'd definitely want the train down for the ceremony. . .but yeah, I guess you wouldn't want to put it up too soon depending on what kind of pics you want with it etc. Hmmmm. . .. -
2nd dress fitting
Rachelle E. replied to TammyB's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Yay!! You look amazing and that dress is perfect!! I've always thought that dress had a particularly romantic feel to it...Ann's right, perfect for a DW! I was wondering what you had decided on the whole bustle thing. . .It looks GREAT up. . .but yeah, we should see some pics w/ the train in all it's glory too! ;-) Are you going to have it bustled during the ceremony, or just after while you're walking around and stuff? -
The Final Dress! (Finally!)
Rachelle E. replied to laura b's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
This is WAYYYY off topic, but I just saw your siggy pic of your son Kelly. . .omg!! He's adorable!!! You don't happen to have any more gorgeous Irish-Jamiacan children on hand, do you?! lol! j/k! But really, I just thought he was particularly cute. . .that pretty skin and curly hair. . .I need a baby. . . lol! -
Alternate idea for a guest book
Rachelle E. replied to LisaG's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I think that's cute! Great idea! -
Lol! Yeah, that cracked me up! I was going to email it to DH but his office at his new job isn't set up yet...so no email. Also, I thought it was pretty timely since I'm going to Vegas in just over a week. . .I figured I could just fill out my permission slip and leave it w/ him - and have him submit one to me too, of course! ;-)
-
Ok, my SIL just sent these to me. I thought they were hilarious! Might come in handy for any upcoming Bachelor/Bachelorette parties. . . Husband_Night_Out_Permission_Slip (2).pdf Wife_Night_Out_Permission_Slip (2).pdf

Wearing dress for AHR?
Rachelle E. replied to mexicobride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Yeah! Do it! I'm totally late on this. But I voted "yes" because my friend Monica is wearing her's to her AHR. Although she does have a more casual dress to change into for later in the evening. The AHR is going to be at my FIL's winery out in the country. . .pretty casual for the most part, so she's pretty much wearing it to let the guests see it and to do a traditional cake cutting/photo op that her mother insisted on! :-) But I think she is pretty excited about having an excuse to wear it again! -
Quote: OK, what if you play the slideshow... to the song your dad picked out. And then while it's playing you ask your dad to dance with you. People will be focusing on the loving moment of you two and then your dancing... but because there isn't a slide show for everyone, nobody will think that dancing is to be continued. Maybe that just makes sense in my own head. Sorry. I think that's a great idea! That way the photog can get some great dancing pics but the guests will be able to divide their attention between you guys and the slide show. Honestly, I think the first dance is cute and all, but unless the people are doing something really interesting (laughing, crying etc.) then I'm usually bored about 60 seconds into it! . . .does that make me a bad person?! Lol!

How fun that you stopped by to say Hi!!! I'm SO happy to hear that you are loving every minute of it! Can't wait to hear ALL about it when you get back! and of course...see the pics! ;-) lol!

Our "most likely" new venue!!
Rachelle E. replied to RaydensMama's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I think that site is gorgeous!! I totally would have had my wedding in a place like that...if we actually had that many trees in Texas! lol! ;-) I think it's going to be beautiful! I can't wait to hear how the site visit goes!! Ooh! And I love the Martha Stewart idea! I saw that on her site a while back and have been trying to think of a reason to do it ever since! lol! -
The Final Dress! (Finally!)
Rachelle E. replied to laura b's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think your dress is beautiful!!! And it looks GREAT on you! It really accentuates your shoulders and collar bones...which I always think are so pretty and feminine on women, kind of makes me think of Audrey Hepburn all dressed up in a movie! :-) -
Ok, I have to say....I really do think you should consider dancing w/ him. If it helps. . .maybe find out HOW important it is to him. Ask your mom or something. If you ask him directly he may not feel like he can be 100% honest. If it's something he was really looking forward to, then definitely do it. BUT, if he seems kinda 50/50 on the idea (like he can take it or leave it) then look into the slide show thing. If he's content w/ not dancing then I think it would be great to do that as a surprise. But if you're trying to "bargain" w/ him you may have to tell him about it. I would not do both slide shows at the same event. So if you do the daddy/daughter one at the reception, then I would reserve the Aaron/Courtney one for the rehearsal dinner...and with that being a smaller group, you may be able to include some crazier pics than you might show to EVERYone at the wedding. Unless the same people will be at both events. . .in which case I still say only one slide show per event! Lol!

What a great week for you! Wedding, honeymoon, birthday... Yay! Congrats and Happy B-day!! :-)
-
Ooohh....yikes. I'm not sure what to say about that one. I haven't heard of anything in particular as a substitue for that dance. I'll try to brainstorm a bit and see what comes up. If it makes you feel any better, I kinda' had do to two f/d dances at my wedding....the whole dad/step-dad thing. (my step-dad raised me pretty much) And I was nervous, and it was a little awkward but in the end it was ok. David got out of the m/s dance because his mom can't dance. (doesn't like it but also has some health problems that make her extra awkward sometimes) I'll admit, I was a little jealous!! ;-) Worst case scenario, I'd say just do it. Just like you've dreamed about certain parts of your life/wedding this may well be a big milestone to him that he's always imagined...like giving you away at the ceremony and stuff. Ooh! As I'm writing. . .an idea occured to me. Now it may be pretty cheesey but I'll throw it out there: What about doing a slide show/toast thing w/ your dad? Like have a special presentation made w/ all the best pics of you guys throughout the years - maybe set to the song he had picked out - and then perhaps a toast thanking him for being your dad etc. Which may well be a good lead-in for his toast as well. That's all I got at the moment! :-)

Passport Hell, part II (LONG)
Rachelle E. replied to TammyB's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
OMG!!!! You poor thing! I can't believe all that crap. . .it's a good thing that one of you is the calm one. I'm not sure what would have happened if that was David and I. . .we're nice enough 'til our buttons get pushed, then...watch out! lol! Good for you not beating that moron with his own damn shoes!!! omg. . .I just can't get over all that...I feel EXTREMELY grumpy for you guys! :-) but yeah, YAY for a passport!!!!!! I am so relieved! I can't even begin to imagine how you feel about it!! This is definitely a good motivational story for all the "passport procrastinators" people have on their guest lists! -
Best makeup for pictures
Rachelle E. replied to AmyInMI's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Yeah, I think the main things I'd worry about are: 1. Make sure you have good foundation...Jess is right, certain formulas do not photograph well and will make you look really washed out, etc. Someone at a makeup counter or Sephora will be able to reccomend something good to you. I know MAC Studio Fix (pressed powder) photographs well...I'll sometimes brush that on over my normal foundation (Stila Illuminating Foundation or Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer) just to mattify and get more "pic ready". 2. Define your eyes. No, you don't need to do any crazy colors or anything...but maybe just have someone show you what technique really enhances your eyes best. And get some good mascara! :-) Ooh! And an eyelash curler...love those!! 3. Lips...again, not necessarily a crazy color or anything like that...but just something that looks pretty on you and helps highlight your smile, compliment your skin tone etc. Those would be my main concerns. . .And just keep it simple, you do want to look like YOU! -
Congrats to you!! Hope you're enjoying your honeymoon!! :-)
