Wedding ring engravings
Rachelle E. replied to PaulaV's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Quote: I want the wedding band to say "everywhere I will be with you" on FIs ring. Its a line from our song we always sing to each other. We are doing secret engravings though, so I have no clue what hes putting on my band. It's going to be cute/fun when you get your ring and it says the same thing! ;-) -
Woohoo! Welcome home! We can't wait to hear about the wedding, sunny St Thomas and of course, the baby!! :-) Pics asap please! Lol!

Help! Guest book question
Rachelle E. replied to laura b's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Ok, I don't know anything about "guest donkeys" or "lucky cats" but now I want to have my wedding over again so that I can have them!! Lol! You girls have the best ideas! btw...I did a photo guest book also. Had someone taking pics of the guests as they arrived. Then I had blank colored cards and various colored sharpies on the table. So people wrote their little notes on the cards and then dropped them into the glass "fishbowl" I had sitting there. It looked cute and colorful set out and was TONS of fun to read through everything and look at the pics when we got home. Now (a friggin' year later!) I just need to get them all arranged in the album I bought! Lol! -
looking for cheap brooches

Ooh! That's pretty! I'll see if I can find anything! -
Not sure what the proper procedure is on this....but I would say since you already sent out the STD cards in advance, you can send out the invites much closer to the date. I know for a local wedding it's usually about 8 weeks before the date. But also take into account if/when you want your rsvp's due by. If you have to give a final count to a vendor 2 weeks in advance...then I'd request your rsvp's a week before that would be due. In which case you might even send out the invites a week or so earlier. That probably sounded confusing!! Sorry! I think 8 weeks out is a good minimum. .. earlier if you need a head count at a certain time.

Alcohol Question

Quote: OMG that is way too funny!! I just went to that site from the first link you posted and typed in Vodka Punch, and that recipe you just posted is what came up! I was thinking, yum that sounds really good! LOL Great minds think alike I guess! hehe Lol!!! It's meant to be! ;-) Honestly I loved that punch! But that's the one that really isn't a pretty color. It's just kinda beige almost! lol! Which was a non-issue for my Halloween party but might not be ideal for your wedding. You may want something that uses a brighter fruit juice so that it's prettier when served. I think the tea in it is what "ruins" the color. Just makes it more brownish I guess. Maybe you should make a test batch this weekend. . . -
I voted palm trees too! I just LOVE them! The flowers are pretty but somehow the palms look extra special to me or something. AND I think you may have just been a lifesaver with this site that you posted! I LOVE it!! And Monica is trying desparately to find somewhere that will sell her 30 invites...w/out charging her a crazy price. Hard to find as we're finding out! I emailed her the link immediately! Thanks for discovering this place! :-)

As you can tell. . .I love obesessing over and planning things! I may not be able to tell you much about fire dancers and mariachi...but drinking?! That I can do!! Lol! -

here's the one I made for my Halloween party last year. It was really yummy! I think I doubled the recipe for the party...and it made a BIG bowlful. Drinking: DetailDrinking at Epicurious.com -

one of my favorite sites has great recipes...I have one from there that I really like...although it's not a pretty color unfortunately. Tastes GREAT though...served it at a party and it was a hit. I'll find it for you just in case. Anyway, the website is: Drinking at Epicurious.com just enter your search citeria and have at it! I've had pretty good luck finding stuff on this site over the years. Also, they may have a drink calcualtor on there as well. -
ooh! Just re-read your post...wanted you to know that my wedding budget did not include our rings or honeymoon. But it included everything else. :-)

Yeah, I think every bride starts out a little naive. I remember my parents giving me 10k for my wedding....yeah, that went FAST! But luckily we only went over budget a little....like 1500. It could have been much worse! And somehow we managed to pull off a 145 person wedding here in Texas! I'm actually a little proud of myself when I think about it! Lol! Jaime...don't freak out. I think you can do your wedding for 10-15k. You'll just have to be careful and really prioritize things along the way. Also the size of your guest list will really play into that. But you can do it!! :-)

looking for cheap brooches
Rachelle E. replied to anaderoux's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Monica bought a couple from White Aisle and really liked them. There are only a few in the $10 range...but there are also some in the $15 range that are pretty. Worth checking out I think. bridal broaches, crystal broaches, wedding vintage broaches -

Alcohol Question
Rachelle E. replied to RaydensMama's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I actually did this at my wedding. It was an evening wedding and I had a bar with beer, wine (red & white options and a white zinfandel) and champagne. It went great. People ate, drank and were very merry! ;-) Not that they would tell me, but I didn't hear (or hear of) a single comment after the fact that people were disappointed by our beverage options. We know a lot of wine drinkers though...and those that aren't seem to be beer drinkers. (is that a Texas thing?) So everyone seemed really happy - we were left with just a smidge of beer in one of the kegs by the end of the night. If you need help w/ how much to buy, I can look over our stuff for you and let you know what we got so you can start shopping/budgeting. Our group was larger - about 145 people - but we might be able to do a little tricky math and figure it out from there. ;-) Just let me know! Also, I think I know of a handy little drink calculator that might work for you too. I'll see if I can find it. -
Need Help Finding Lipstick
Rachelle E. replied to soulmates's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
My advice (as always, because I'm an addict!) is "go to Sephora!" Ask the salesperson to help you - they're really great about that, giving suggestions etc. And you can try lots of stuff on before you make a decision. Otherwise, I might try Nordstrom, Neiman's or something like that. . .park yourself at the cosmetics counter and don't leave until they find you something that you like. Even wear it around for a while (grab a drink or shop or something) before you decide to purchase it. make sure you're happy in it. Sometimes I'll change my mind after a while and decide that it's not "me". -
What's your groom wearing?
Rachelle E. replied to tvt's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Ok, well it's not my groom...but Monica's FI will be wearing a khaki colored suit. He actually really lucked out and got a nice, lightweight suit at Jos A Bank for like $100!! They were having one of their big sales - it was perfect timing. I don't have a pic of it. But I think it was just your basic men's suit. Flat front trousers, 3 button jacket I think. He's going to wear some kind of brown leather sandals with it. They'll still looking for those. The groomsmen are wearing khaki pants and white shirts. Also wearing brown leather sandals. I think a suit is quite formal enough for a beach wedding. Esp. if you and he aren't particularly attatched to the idea of a tux.
