  1. Good to know!! Also, a lesson I learned. . .when they say it only takes pics in bright sunlight, they MEAN it!!! Lol! I tried to take some pics in the hot tub in our room with it (I was on my honeymoon!! and anyway, seemed safer than the digital in case I dropped it! lol!) and not a SINGLE one turned out! It's not like it was pitch black in that room either. But yeah - it only works outside in the bright, tropical sunshine! ;-)
  2. You're welcome! She also sent me a link to the specifc style they're getting. Not the trailer but a smaller, stand alone style. Still has the sink and stuff. Freshwater flushing portable restrooms, perfect for weddings - United Site Services
  3. Ok! here it is! This is the company she got it from. It looks like they're called restroom trailers. :-) Widest selection of restroom trailers - United Site Services
  4. I'm finding out what it's called - I'll let you know as soon as she emails me back!
  5. Quote: Yeah, I was hoping we would probably rent port-a-potties or something, cuz the bathroom would be ridic. People would be sneaking off to do their business in the woods! I can't beleive they got a tent for under $500! I am researching it now and to rent one for the amount of people that we need is WAY more then that! Oh well. I guess I will jsut price it all out and then decide what we will do. They are having portable bathrooms brought out too. It's like a little trailer type thing with the bathroom and sink and everthing inside. a step up from the traditional porta-potty! :-) yeah, they're doing pretty good on that tent....however it's for a much smaller group than yours. And they're setting up the patio as additional seating so they don't need quite as much tent space. Definitely shop around for that stuff though. . .some companies just charge more and you can totally find the same thing for less elsewhere.
  6. yeah, I think it just depends on what you want to do. What kind of "theme" you're going for. Monica's AHR is going to be at my FIL's winery out in the country. It's a pretty good sized piece of land. Huge outdoor deck etc. They are renting a tent (which I think is unnecessary - but her parents really want it) as well as all the table and chairs. I think that's about it for rentals. The tent is the most expensive item at just under $500. And after some serious shopping around they found a fairly good deal on the tables/chairs & tablecloths. Don't know the exact numbers on that though. They are not renting dishes, glassware etc. They are catering in bbq, having a fairly traditional wedding cake (another non-negotiable w/ the parents) serving beer (kegs) and wine that my FIL is giving them as their wedding gift. They also have a small band (3 piece I think) playing for a few hours and a photog for a couple hours for some good family pics and such. This is a rough estimate - but I'd say they're probably spending about $2500 (give or take - more likely give! lol!) on the whole thing with about 75 guests. They've lucked out not having to pay for the wine, the venue itself and a few other items but it's still turning out to be a fairly big deal. Think long and hard about what you want, what you want to spend and all that before you decide anything. Over 200 people is a lot to have at someone's home. Think about the line for the bathroom! lol! j/k! That being said, I think it's a great idea, adds a personal touch and certainly does save you the large cost of renting a venue.
  7. Well David and I stayed at the Moon Palace for our honeymoon...that's in Cancun. But I was going to say that all of the Palace resorts (all of them are AI I think) seem to get really good reviews. I know they have one in Playa that supposed to be really nice. We ran into some other honeymooners in the airport and they stayed there - said they LOVED it. Definitely worth looking into - we're hoping to check it out one day for ourselves!! Anyway, Go to Palace Resorts - Welcome to the Official Site and see if they have one you might be interested in. :-) Also, my hair stylist is having her wedding in Playa - this week I think! I'll see where she stayed and let you know how she liked it.
  8. Mmmm. .. I LOVE chocolate martinis!! I know Godiva makes a reg. chocolate and also a white chocolate liquor that are both really yummy. Also, Starbucks has a couple liqours out now too...so you could totally do a "mocha martini" or something!
  9. I think I was thinking of the same drink as Heidi! I couldn't even remember what it was called! Place to look for ideas. . . blue, alcoholic Recipes at Epicurious.com This is one of my FAVORITE sites! They have a really huge database of food and drink recipes...I just searched "blue" and sent you what it came up with. But you might be able to do a more specific search to find what you want.
  10. Oh yeah...these restaurants are just in PV in general...not at the resort. Sorry about the confusion. :-)
  11. So here's the thing...I tracked down the Barcelona Tapas website and it says that they are closed for vacation the month of September. I know we're going in the off season...but damn. That's a bummer. And poor Monica is so disappointed and now worrying like crazy that things are going to be closed etc. the entire time we're there. I'm sure there's somewhere yummy we can go.... ...back to the drawing-board!
  12. Well, mostly I was looking at that hotel in Walnut Creek because 1. I have no idea how far apart everything is! And 2. it just looked like a really pretty hotel...and I liked that it was a little smallish and not a big chain hotel. you know? That was the main draw. . .but also they have a "stay and play" package with that golf course I mentioned and David REALLY wants to play there. Although he can do that regardless of where we stay I guess, it just seemed like a good package deal - it includes a gc to their spa (as well as golf, room etc.) and I am a sucker for spas! lol! Anyway, we're definitely still looking at stuff. Nothing set in stone yet. So I'm definitely open to hotel suggestions. I like the idea of staying in a B&B, but David is typically hesitant about that kind of thing. Feels weird like he's staying in someone's house. The only way I got him to that one for our anniversary is because we actually stayed in a cottage on the property that was separate from the main house. Although maybe we could do a B&B for a night or two and hotel for the rest of the time? Sometimes the annonymity of a hotel is nice. . .coming and going w/out feeling like you might be disturbing someone, sleeping 'til noon and not feeling guilty about skipping the breakfast. . . We'll keep looking for sure. It's nice to have some experienced people to run these ideas by! That being said...would you choose to stay closer to Napa or Sonoma? Is one area better than the other? Just different? We're really just looking to escape our little suburb in Texas, enjoy some scenery, some wineries, spa, golf and food. . .well, and maybe a little shopping!
  13. I feel so shocked! Like, "omg! Already?!??!" Lol!! I'm sure you're SO ready for it though. yay for you guys!! have SO much fun! Can wait to see those bach party pics! lol!
  14. That's beautiful!! You're going to be such a beautiful bride!!
  15. That sounds great!! Thanks! I don't know what a tequila cream is, but I'll make sure to find out and have one for you!
  16. Yeah...I cried too! lol! What an amazing story! I LOVE that you two have found each other and have made such a beautiful family together! I don't imagine there will be a dry eye at your wedding! Congratulations on finding the perfect man for you and your girls! I'm SO happy for you all!
  17. We would like to go out for a dinner while we're at Dreams PV in Sept. I wasn't sure where to go or if anyone had any had a favorite place they might reccomend. I've heard tons of great things about Daquiri Dick's....but from everything I've read it seems to be closed the entire month of September! So we're out of luck there I guess! Any suggestions are appreciated!
  18. I agree - as long as they look really similar it should be fine. Like same type of fabric and generally same style...flat front, pleat etc.
  19. You girls are awesome! Thanks for info...David was VERY happy to hear about the Corona! I can't wait to go there! :-)
  20. So my husband asked me to "consult the oracle" (that would be you girls! and yes, he actually said that. lol!) to see what kind of beer they serve at Dreams. He's pretty concerned about it and is surprised that I haven't asked this all-important question yet! So...if any of you remember, he'd be delighted to know.
  21. I think most of you are familiar with the company White Aisle...they have gorgeous invites, STD's etc. The White Aisle : Unique Wedding Favors and Invitations Anyway, they spend each fall (typically their slow season) volunteering overseas. This year they will be working in Cambodia. They have an option on their website for you to contribute towards charities in that country. It really seems like a great opportunity. And nice to see a company in this billion dollar industry giving back. So if your interested, check it out. Donate Cambodia, $9 = 1 year of schooling
  22. YAY!!!!!! OMG - I'm SO excited for you!!! What a gorgeous ring!!! I'll bet you spend at least 9 hours today just staring at it! loL! BIG congrats to you guys!!!
  23. Awww! I promise I'll take pics for you! I can't wait to go...I lived in northern CA for 4 years and never managed to get there and check everything out! Ridiculous!! Thanks for all your help!!! :-)
  24. I've been to a wedding w/a harpist. It was very beautiful. It was in a church though. . .not sure what I think about it on the beach. my first instinct is to think that with the harp generally being a softer/quieter type instrument it might get a little lost with the ocean noise, wind etc. But it would be pretty and unique for sure!
