  1. Depends on what you're doing. My stylist had to sort of do my hair around the veil to get it in the position that I wanted and to help keep it secure.
  2. Mine was $75 each time. I did two sessions - one practice/bridal portraits and the one on the big day. But that was here in Dallas... You'll definitely pay more to have someone come to you.
  3. gorgeous!! I had lanterns hanging kinda like that for my ceremony. I used clear fishing line to suspend them from the ceiling. But I only used 3 and spaced them out instead of stacking them close like that. Anyway...point is - GREAT find!! And those lanterns are SOooooo cheap at Ikea!
  4. you're welcome! I LOVE excuses to look at shoes online! :-) I always start at Nordstrom for ideas - they have a great shoe selection.
  5. Here's an idea - I think the gold in this one is really pretty - though the silver is nice too. J. Reneé 'Stardust' Sandal - View All - Nordstrom.com
  6. if you can't find a shoe in that color...looks like it could be hard to match...i'd go with a metallic. Maybe a silver or something. Obviously a subtle metallic - nothing super shiny or sparkly that would distract from the dress. Offhand I'd reccomend silver...but I'm not sure. In person the dress might look better w/ a soft gold. But no matter what, I'd reccommend a delicate, simple shoe. Nothing with too thick of a heel or thick straps or anything. May I can find something....
  7. Quote: I was grinning at everyone like crazy and trying to make myself stop!(I do remember thinking after that I walked down the aisle too fast though! Just wanted to get there fast I guess! lol!) When I got to my husband to be he was a total wreck! Couldn't stop crying! (he has been duly teased about this ever since!) He was so nervous that when he was supposed to say I do... he practically yelled YES! That's so cute!!! I love that!
  8. Quote: My fav shot would have to be tequila - Patron's always a good bet! As I respond 5 years later.... I love Patron too! It's my fave...seriously one shot of that and I'm all set... anyway, I felt giddy/nervous while I was waiting in the back of the church. Just like I wanted or needed to be doing something - totally couldn't sit still. Sooooo needed a drink! lol! But is was fun. Right before I was going to walk down, all the BM's were lined up in front of me, I could see through the doors into the church where all our friends and family were and I could see the pastor who was doing our ceremony and it's like right then I really realized what was happening. All my emotions came up to the surface and I started to get super emotional...almost sort of breath and on the verge of tears. One of my BM"s saw that and turned all girly on me, "Awwww!! Omg - you're getting married!!! Right now! This is totally it..." on and on. Soooo not helping! lol! I was trying so hard not to cry! Then all the girls started walking down the aisle. I calmed down a little but was still pretty unsteady. Then, about 30 seconds before I was supposed to walk into the church, a friend of my DH's was sneaking out the back door of the sanctuary 'cause her little girl was apparently being too loud. (honestly, she didn't seem loud or rowdy to me, I think her mom was just nervous she'd say or do something totally random right when I was walking in! Kinda funny) Anyway, the point to that is that the little girl (about 3 years old) saw me, got the biggest smile on her face and tried to hand me the stuffed toy monkey she was carrying around! lol! It was SO cute! She was just being so happy - and generous, apparently! - that it put the most enormous smile on my face and totally calmed me down. Then we had to walk into the church and I swear, the instant I set foot in that room the biggest wave of peace just swept over me. I felt so calm and happy and just real...like myself. it was awesome. I remember even seeing a friend in the crowd as I was walking up, thinking her dress was gorgeous and totally telling her it was great...right then! No matter that there are 150 people staring at me and I'm practically leaning over my dad to say it! lol!! she totally cracked up and I went back to being happy and getting married. So that was long...sorry! But it was kinda' fun to remember all those feelings! Ooh! The other really fun part was seeing David at the end of the aisle - he was totally teary-eyed the whole time. It was so sweet!
  9. Gorgeous pictures!! I cannot believe how beautiful that venue is! What a lovely wedding and slidshow! Thanks for sharing!
  10. Well hello. . .hello....omg those are HOT!!! Seriously...you two are quite the sexy, photogenic couple. Those pictures are stunning...I LOVE the sepia tone in the first few and then when you see the ones in color, it's such a beautiful change. I can't believe those are the first TTD pics your photog has done! Props to her!!! Again...STUNNING.
  11. Kelly! Welcome home! Your pictures are gorgeous!! Your wedding looked beautiful and I love all the pics of your kids - you guys have such a pretty family! ;-) Congratulations!!! I'm off to see the TTD pics now!!
  12. omg! What a cool, crazy story!! I'm glad to hear that you made it out of harms way! Thanks for posting this stuff! :-)
  13. I've heard that you can use those candy necklaces for the "suck for a buck" game too. Might be a nice compromise between having to wear a big, baggy shirt w/ candy on it and the blow pop bouquet that is SUPER tame? my MOH found a deck of cards w/ different dares and such on it. That was a fun game and EVERyone joined in. The MOH, BM's and other girls all drew a card and we had a blast watching each other try to do this random stuff. Some of the ideas were a little racy for me (like actually kissing another guy on the mouth - eek! Not for me!!) so we made a rule that anyone could veto their card/dare if they were totally uncomfortable with it. It was a blast! Oh yeah...and you should totally make that girl wear something that says bachelorette on it!!! Don't listen to her about that one! If she doesn't want to carry around penis-shaped stuff all night...cool, whatever. But a cute little top that says bachelorette on it?!?!? Come on! Just make her do it! :-) How else does she expect to get tons of free drinks?!?! loL!
  14. could you have gotten a parasite somehow? I don't imagine that's as common in Mexico as it is other places that I've heard of....but maybe that would explain why it's not "over" yet?? But that being said...there are certain things that I used to eat on occasion that do bother me now. For no apparent reason, just happens. I chalk it up to getting older or something. ;-)
  15. yeah, I'd say take an informal poll from a few guests that would be honest with you and see how they respond. personally, I would probably try to get out of it if Monica had something like that planned for us our first morning there. First of all, I'm terrified of heights, so sliding all over on ziplines (even though I have no doubt it's amazing!) would scare me to bits and I would not want to do it. Also, the first morning of a vacation is all about sleeping in, IMO!
  16. Congratulations!!!! Omg...you must be absolutely giddy! That ring is GORGEOUS! And that story got me all teary eyed! How perfect!!
  17. We chose our largely based on the time of year we wanted to get married. (actually I REALLY wanted a fall wedding but David was soooooo sad that we would have to wait over a year from our engagement to get married if we did that.) Anyway, we chose late spring - so end of April through May. Then once we decided on the location for our reception, we pretty much only had two dates to choose from...April Fool's Day or Cinco de Mayo! Lol! So at that point the choice was pretty obvious for us. And besides...it's fun to get married on a holiday like that. We figure there will always be parties and specials on margaritas in our honor.
  18. Quote: Or worse yet, what if they want the recipe! Lol! Good point - I think you could probably only get away w/ calling something a "secret family recipe" so many times before people start figuring things out!
  19. Congrats to you Kelly! Can't wait to hear all about it!! I'm sure it will be even more amazing that you have imagined! have fun!!
  20. I totally 'fess up when it's something store bought. No reason to lie...and besides, what if they want to pick some up for themselves. I can't be limiting people's food options by telling them I made something that I didn't! lol!
  21. Quote: Will sephorah give you makeovers like the counters will? I want to buy some bare esentials, but I want to try it first. Absolutely! They're really great about it. My mom actually had one done for Mother's Day - we gave her a gift card so she tried some new stuff and bought what she liked. They're also really great about giving samples of stuff too.
  22. Yay for you!! that's going to be so fun! And probably relaxing after all the finals stress! That mono crap needs to freakin' leave you alone!! Get better!!
  23. We have these Linens 'n Things - Calphalon: Cutlery: Calphalon® Katana Series® Open Stock Cutlery and LOVE them! I think they're a happy medium price-wise. And it's definitely more cost effective to get them in a set. You can get other Calphalon kinfe sets that are pretty good and not quite as pricey. I agree...go to BB&B or Linen's N Things and have one of the people give you more info about them, let you hold them/get a feel for them etc. There were some super expensive knives we were looking at at Williams Sonoma when we were registering and as great as they might be...I just didn't like the feel of them. Something about the handles just wasn't workin' for me! So check stuff out and see what you really like. Have fun!
