  5. Growing up we were taught all that stuff about cow's milk being bad and unnecessary etc. We still used it for stuff...like cooking etc. And sometimes for cereal, but typically my mom didn't let us have cold cereal 'cause she thought it was all too sugary and not nutritional enough...so it was a rare treat. And half the time she'd try to get us to put something else in it...like juice. Gross. She had read that in a book somewhere and thought it was a great idea...juice instead of milk in your cereal. No thanks. I gave it a try...and it really was soooooo gross! :-) Anyway, it just wasn't used much when I was a kid. But I LOVE milk. And Choclate milk in particular is a vice of mine. LIke I would have to really sit and think about it if someone said I had to give up either choc. milk or alcohol...I'd need like a day to figure it out! lol! It's seriously that bad. I only buy organic milk (1%) 'cause I really hate all the hormones and everything they put in the cows. I also buy organic butter...that being said, I usually just buy regular cheese since it's more available and a little less expensive... good cheese can get pricey sometimes! lol! I have heard that too many soy products are bad for you. I can't remember all the statistics off hand...but I've come across that in several of the articles I've read regarding what to eat/avoid while pregnant and while TTC. So I do try to limit some of that stuff and only eat my fave soy-based stuff...edemame etc. I do however like soy milk in some of my hot beverages...like certain coffees and chai tea. And the 8th Continent Choc Soy milk is SOooooo good, IMO. I do prefer rice milk for cereal...it's lighter to me...sometimes the soy milk is kinda heavy tasting to me. All that being said, I am happy with my 1% organic milk and cereal in the morning...I don't see that changing. :-)
  6. beautiful!!! I loved your colors! I think one of my favorite pics was the one where he was dipping you and your last name is written in the sand...SO cute!!! That should totally be on your thank you cards or something! :-) CONGRATS!!!!
  7. I LOVE breakfast! And of course I love the kind that's bad for you the most. :-) I'm a sucker for waffles, bacon, hashbrowns etc. Yum! But obviously I really only have time for that on the weekends. For weekdays I'm a cereal girl. I eat the kashi cereals, the Smart Start and vanilla almond Special K. Those are probably the ones I buy most. But I also LOVE plain ol' Crispix, rice krispies and cheerios...esp the multi grain ones! If I get those more plain cereals though, I usually make sure to get some bananas to slice up in them. Also, instant oatmeal and the kashi hot cereal are good. In a real pinch I'll shake up some slim fast or whey protein shake on my way out the door. Although I prefer blending those in the blender w/ fruit if I have time. Also, honey wheat bagels w/ a little peanut butter...Mmmmmm!
  8. Great job!! That's a gorgeous and super informative newsletter! I'm sure your guests are going to really appreciate it - and be impressed! ;-)
  9. Congrats!!! 5 years is a fun "landmark" year I think. :-) Esp with a wedding right around the corner!! have fun celebrating!
  10. Those pics are gorgeous!!! Your wedding looked absolutely beautiful and SO fun!!
  11. GORGEOUS!!! Absolutely beautiful pics! I love the one of you, on the horse, in the water too! lol! It's just such a cool pic! :-)
  12. I LOVE the 1st dress!! I like detailing on the bottom and I like that the top is still fairly simple...that was you can get some amazing earrings and wear a veil and it won't look too busy. :-) The 2nd one is pretty too, but I have to say, I LOVE the 1st one on you! :-)
  13. omg! Me too! We got this email at work today reminding us of the companies "computer usage policy" blah, blah, blah... The thing is, this email had been forwarded around from the IT director, to various managers etc. My direct mgr told me that the policy stated we couldn't use the computers/internet for ANYthing that wasn't work related. What the IT director actually said was that excessive downloads of music and video were causing problems - not people reading the news or checking the weather etc. and that any computer that had to be repaired/rebuilt due to excessive downloads and surfing would be reported to that person's manager and HR. So it's not really that they're montioring everything constantly, they're just telling people to tone it down. But it kinda pissed me off that the mgr in my dept made it sound like they were watching every site we went to and we couldn't even check our email etc. She seriously got onto me for checking my gmail today!!!
  14. Yuummmm! And I'm loving that the new drink has two ingredients! :-) I bet you could totally throw all that in a blender and do it frozen/slushie in the summer. I can see me serving that at a bbq on my deck. . .and probably ending up pretty tipsy! lol!
  15. Gorgeous pics!! and just so ya know...I did bridal portraits too! :-) I think it must be somewhat of a southern thing since a TON of people I know have had them done. Yours are gorgeous!! and I have to say, that one w/ you sitting down, showing off the shoes...fantastic! I Loooooveeee those shoes!!!!! omg...they are hot!
  16. Quote: Pasta all'Amatriciana 1 pound bucatini (can also use spaghetti or thin linguine) Salt 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, 2 turns of the pan in a slow stream 1/4 pound (4 ounces) pancetta*, diced (more if you like it meaty) 1 medium onion, chopped 4 to 6 cloves garlic, chopped 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (2 tsp. if you like it on fire) 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley Freshly ground black pepper Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, Grana Padano or Romano, to pass at the table omg Jamy....this is one of my all-time faves! One of my favorite Italian places serves this and I can't help but get it every time we go there! They make it with the bucatini which I looooveee! And Pancetta is just so yummy to me. Thanks for posting the recipe!!
  17. I hope it's legal to vote for someone, 'cause I just did! lol! :-) ps. totally loving that new siggy pic Drea. :-)

  19. yay!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm so happy to hear that all is well. he is gorgeous, really. a perfect little man. :-) Now I need to go tally up the baby pool!! I can't remember what weight I guessed...but I think I was close! lol! have fun with your new little one! Rest up and give us the whole story later! ( you know Sarah is dying to hear all the gory, medical details! lol!)
  20. Ohhhh....gotcha! I didn't realize you already had that booked/payed for etc. That does throw a wrench in the works! lol! Is there any random holiday coming up that you guys might have off...you could sneak away to MN? Like MLK day or President's day something?
  21. Personally, I think I would either make it work for MN, or I would find a cool place in AZ. I think I would feel odd doing the engagments pics right before the wedding...you know? If you can't make it out the Mpls...and I totally understand why you'd want to do that, I'm sure that would be my preference too!...then the upside is that AZ DOES have some gorgeous places to take cool pics. AND it's also your first big adventure together! Your first place that's totally new to both of you etc. MIght be cool to have some pics of that.
  22. I like the two tier best...I like that it has SOME detailing on it, but not so much that it's competing with the detailing from the dress. I voted for the ivory color too...although I'm sure you could easily to either.
  23. I love this fun drinking thread! I like hearing about everyone's fun drinks they're going to make! We decided to give the Absolut grapefruit vodka a try tonight. Someone had mentioned that it was yummy so we figured we give it a shot. We got some 7up and some grapefruit juice to mix with it. I'll let you girls know if it's any good... ;-)
  24. Well, I am typically a big fan of the "sassy, unexpected shoe"...but since you're switching to a knee length dress for the reception, I voted for the white "bridal" shoe. I think it might just be a little too stark of a contrast having the red/blk shoe w/ a shorter white dress. IMO, anyway. :-) And I have to say....I really like the style of the white shoe as well. VERY classy and vintage looking. :-)
