Quote: That's totally what I want to do Rachelle- wood throughout. The problem is that the carpet was literally brand new when we bought the house, so it's kinda hard to justify ripping it out right away. Wood is definitely the long term plan. So, with that dark fireplace would you do light or dark wood? I have SUCH a hard time decorating... it's impossible for me to make decisions on stuff! Besides the fact that I have champagne taste on a beer budget. lol I see what you mean about ripping out the carpet...but I have to say I'm glad wood is the long term plan! I think that will look great!!! I'll have to see if I can find a pic...but one of my friends has this wood in her house that is mostly dark, but has some really pretty golden type colors running through it. I'm emailing her right now to find out! lol!

Quote: I may have to hit up Dallas next! LOL yeah!! You should totally do that! I was telling Jamy in the "breakfast" thread that we pretty much eat, drink and shop here. That's about it. ;-) Quote: And you still look good after 4 pitchers? I'm impressed. If that was a pic of me after 4 pitchers, my hair would be so disheveled and my eyes would begin to droop. When I start drinking, in all my drunk pics I look like I'm seizing. Ok, LOL!!!! You're hilarious! And you should know that the pitchers were shared with a fairly large group of friends. Also, you should know that the pictures get worse...MUCH worse as the day goes on. I'll have to start a "Drunken Pictures" thread so we call all have a good laugh at each other's drunken shenanigans!

omg....your house is so tall Sarah! lol! I LOVE those high ceilings!! And your tree is gorgeous! I'm sure you were probably thinking carpet on those floors...but wood would be super impressive in that space. And then you could get gorgeous rugs for different areas.

Quote: If I started drinking at 9am, I would end up in some Boston gutter. My liver would go on strike for sure. I think it would be fun to try though! Yeah, the one day each year we get all crazy like that is St Patty's. Well, it's the Saturday BEFORE St Patty's! lol! That's when Dallas does their parade downtown...so we take the train from way up here in the suburbs and drink to our heart's content...starting at about 10:30am! lol! needless to say by evening we're done. Really done. Last year I ate dinner at like 6:30 and was fast asleep in bed by 7:30. Didn't wake up until the following morning! (actually my siggy pic is from that parade last year. I think it was about noon and we'd already polished off at LEAST 4 pitchers of beer w/ our friends! lol!)

My house is in that half done state too. We've got everything painted - FINALLY! But are slowly getting all the decor, fixtures and stuff done. We've installed new fixtures in the hall bath and new ceiling fans/lights in the office, breakfast area and one of the spare bedrooms. Those make a HUGE difference! We bought the new light fixtures for the dining room and entry way but they don't fit!!! Arrggghhhhh! Our house has the weirest "holes" for the ceiling fixtures..they're like just barely the wrong size for every single light we've bought for them! It's so frustrating...'cause there are no measurements on the boxes...you just have to find out the hard way once you un-install whatever you've already got and climb up there w/ the new one! Anyway, not that you were asking for all that info... lol! I guess my point is that I don't have a favorite room right now since I feel that they're all unfinished. I have furniture that I like a lot, or parts of things that I like...but nothing is quite "right" yet.

I agree you should do whatever works best for you/your guests. And it will be nice not to have the mad rush of getting another event going right after you get back. That being said, my best friend had her AHR about 2 weeks after they got back from their wedding/honeymoon. While it was super busy for them during that time, they were so ready to do it and be done with it. They were "weddinged out" in her words. There are so many things leading up to the wedding (fittings, parties, showers etc) that coming back and doing one more thing was just a lot for them. I think if they had delayed it, they probably wouldn't have ended up doing it. It was a great time and everyone had a blast - but I think there's the off chance that 3 months later, you won't be as enthusiastic about it 'cause you're already back in the groove of "normal life" and all that. On the other hand, maybe by then you'll have your pics back from the photog to share?! That would be cool...

Quote: Rachel on sunday people were getting wasted at like 2PM. Probably b/c the bars close so darn early! Also, I think our friend said that there is a power hour where everyone goes crazy and starts drinking as much as possible b/c they know the bar is going to close soon. LOL. Lol! After I wrote that I thought that if all the Irish/Boston/Drinking stereotypes are true...then the bars really don't HAVE to stay open late, since people start their drinking at like 9am! loL!

I LOVE Boston! Yeah, it kinda sucks that the bars close early...I think it's dumb that they close at 2am here in Dallas...1am is just crazy! lol! But then again, if it's what you're used to... Honestly, I was only there for a weekend a few years ago. But I had a great time - and some damn good clam chowder! Also, I think it is a really cool/cute/pretty city. Maybe I just like that things are older...everything in Dallas is so freakin' new...it all looks alike! Also, I have absolutely no preference about major sports teams...so I don't care about all the Red Sox (or Yankees! lol! ) nonsense. Now I'd better get out of this thread before Glenda and Jason get me! lol!

yeah, that's the thing...I think it's more about WHO is giving it and what spirit it was given in. I've received some crazy and ugly gifts in my day....but some of them were from people who I know really, truly meant well and were genuinely trying to be nice. However, when someone obviously re-gifts or buys you something you KNOW that they know you hate...that's just rude on their part. Personally I'm never one to say anything in those situations, I belive firmly in being gracious - even when the other person isn't. But you can sure gripe about it later w/ DH! lol!!

As a hostess gift I don't think the price of the wine would bother me that much...it's just a token of appreciation IMO. They don't necessarily HAVE to get me anything. BUT, if it's a gift FOR me..like b-day or something, that would be pretty irritatating...I mean, come on! At least get me something that's a bare minimum gift card amount - like $10 or something! lol! Yeah, Dh's boss at his old job gave him a bottle of wine for his b-day one year. Now this woman is LOADED and knows wine...and she gave us a $12 bottle of really mediocre Merlot. That was frustrating...it's like, "Glad you appreciate all my hard work!" :-P Mostly because she knows better I guess....

Quote: You dream about people on the forum. LOL! omg, I was trying to log on constantly when the forum was being upgraded to post that!! Yeah, it's nuts when you have a dream about someone you've never even met! lol! I dreamt that I ran into Jamy at a resort somewhere. She was floating on a raft thingy in the pool w/ a drink and I was there w/ my DH and kept just staring at her 'cause she looked familiar. Finally I got up the guts to ask her if she was ...well,her! And she was and we laughed and talked about it, introduced our Dh's and all that. Pretty normal really except that I don't even know her! -
Those pics are cute! :-) I don't have any of the good ones of my babies here at work! I'll have to be the nerd that restarts this thread after everyone has been over it for like 3 days! lol! Oh but yeah, we are "mom and dad" to our pets too! I know it's probably kind of silly, but they're our babies! Jake (our dog) is really responsive to stuff like that...he also gets SUPER excited when we ask him if he wants to go see "Sasha" or "your friend"...he totally responds to both and gets really really excited! Sasha is my best friend's dog and they LOVE each other! he gets to stay w/ her tonight since David and I won't be home after work...he was SO happy when we dropped him off this morning!

ok, I'm sure you had something more grown up in mind...but just in case you were thinking silly/whimsical here's an idea. A friend of mine got this at a baby shower...while I don't think it's terribly practical, I thought it was kinda cute. :-) Munchkin White Hot Safety Duck Tub - Wal-Mart -

Gorgeous girl!! You're a beautiful bride...and those pics are great! Everything looked amazing!!!! -
That is GORGEOUS!!!!! absolutely beautiful! And I don't take mind off for anything. . .except taking a shower or yard work or something where I know it will likely get very dirty etc. I like having it on ALL the time! :-) so how many times each day do you catch yourself staring at it?! lol! I used to do that SOOOOO much!

OMG..Lol! That's so cute/funny!! Our cat is a freak about smells too...his fave is David's morning breath. NO joke. It's SO gross! He'll come up and lay by us in bed, all happy and cuddly and and if David yawns or something he'll practically stick his head in David's mouth!! Or if he (the cat) is being really pushy and is all up in David's face, he'll actually blow on him - thinking it will irritate him and he'll move...But no, he loves it and actually does a weird lip-licking/smacking thing as if he just ate something yummy. he's such a freak... I actually feel a little embarassed about that! loL!

you'd better not get another life outside of here...we'd miss you!! :-)

Rachelle E. replied to rodent's topic in Just venting or funnies
...You're planning a vacation and your first thought is to read all the reviews of the different resorts on here before checking pricing, calling a TA etc. ...when BDW is practically your new google, you figure if the forum doesn't have any info on it, you'll google it later. AFTER you ask everyone on here if they happen to know about whatever it is you're looking for! -
those are so great! VERY fun....thanks for taking care of that Tammy! And jamy...if there was a superlative for Best Smilies...you'd win it! LOL! DJ Smilie....love it!
