  1. OMG Kisa Casa Valerie was our #1 choice when we pondered the villa wedding, I've never seen anyone else talk about it let alone book it. Too cool! We went with Las Caletas because it was dear to us but definitely scoped out Casa Valerie. What a stunning place, I can't wait to see your pictures (next year)! As for your question, I agree with Rachel. 3 pm is prime sun time and I think if you move it back at least to 5pm you and your guests will appreciate it. Happy planning
  2. I didn't wear my dress again mostly because it had a time and place that was special to me, and that had passed. I'm probably the weird one for thinking the dress has its own energy and I wanted to keep it that way I wouldn't say someone is weird for wearing it again though. Do what you want!

Hmm I wonder if I could have my grandmother and myself submit to this. Totally! On second thought I recommend this site (Family Tree DNA - we do genetic tests for your genealogy questions!) kind of looks to me to be the best of the three but check them all out. They test mtDNA (maternal side) and the others don't and it is highly accurate. Your results come with migration maps and everything. DH wants to do this because you know how most African-Americans have virtually no history beyond the plantations of the South? Well he has always wanted to know what part of Africa his people came from before they were stolen, and they can tell you, so he will be doing this too. It's pretty cool that it can be done, right? It's not dirt cheap but it's not expensive considering what you can learn! Here are some FAQ's: Family Tree DNA - we do genetic tests for your genealogy questions!
  5. You're back!! Can't wait to hear more about your Jamaican love story. That bracelet is freakin awesome man!!
  6. I was a member of ancestry.com for awhile, and maybe my family tree is all convoluted, but it didn't help me personally. I was able to trace my paternal name which is quite rare back a few centuries in Europe, but I guess I was hoping to see info on relatives whose names I knew and that didn't happen. I also was interested in checking the Ellis Island archives for tons of family that came through from Italy and although seeing the records was cool, again I didn't find what I was looking for. Not sure if I gave up too soon or what. My people don't have much American history either, the first of my relatives didn't get here until the late 1800's so I think someone with U.S. roots would have better luck. Going further back, there has long been "talk" that centuries ago my Italian side mixed with Egyptian & Moroccan which could be true as the part of Italy they are from is really close to N. Africa. There used to be no way to really tell other than hiring a genealogist. But now, there are easier ways to do genealogy through DNA. There is a specific Jewish test even. What a cool story Glenda, perhaps "the Turk" and "the Jew" were really Turkish and Jewish, fascinating! Check these out: Family Tree DNA - we do genetic tests for your genealogy questions! 7. How scary for your family, my best wishes go out to you guys for a successful surgery and fast recovery P.S. Guessing that's your mom in your siggy? She's pretty!
  8. Isn't that where Amy is right now? Or is there another Mayan in NV? I love the look of the place, and the wave pool is too cool! Also it is really affordable and if I wanted to stay in NV I would seriously consider it.
  9. Aww Maura sorry you're stressed Between the reiki, relfexology, and pedicure you should be totally relaxed. I echo Alyssa's comments and we know you know, but sometimes you need to hear it - forget everyone else! When it's over you will be like "why did I care again?". Easier said than done, I know. Call me if you want to blow off some steam or laugh about it, I work nights right now so I'm up all night & don't get to bed until at least 11am your time. Take care
  10. I actually think that could work. I love fuschia & orange and terra cotta isn't too far off. Or like Sandra said you could always change the color of the fountains. Look at these colors, terra cotta fits in there:
  11. Sounds like a blast, I love summer camping!

  13. I agree, your mom needs to handle her friend. All your mom has to tell her is that this is your intimate wedding and that you & FI have a strict guest list/limit. She can't just invite herself. Your poor TA, someone better talk to Anne soon! Good luck
  14. We're back and Stevie blew us away! It was a beautiful warm night under the stars and he sang so many of his amazing songs. We had decent seats considering we bought these last minute, we were right in the middle section of the bowl. Ricky Minor conducted the orchestra and it was all so magical that somehow I drank an entire bottle of wine to myself His daughter Ayesha (the one he sings about in Isn't She Lovely?) was one of his background singers and she did a solo song, and his son came out and sang too (see pics below). I was totally crying when he did Rocket Love and a few other songs of his that are special to me. If ever you have the chance to see him live do it! 16. Maura I'll totally try! I'm sure I can sneak in some shots with my phone
  17. I'm actually getting ready (between typing) to go to see Stevie Wonder at the Hollywood Bowl - woohoo! I'm just drinking iced tea right now, saving the alcohol for later so I don't poop out early
  18. I'm on a 4 dayer so I'll let you know tomorrow lol...but I assure you it will suck! Love the rug! Your house totally looks like a home now, last I saw it the place was empty. Very nice!!
