Wait first of all cigarettes are $10 where you live? Second, congratulations on day 5!!! It sure is tough, isn't it? I've been there and it seems like it would be easier to kick crack! A lot of people, on BDW too, have been able to quit cold turkey and good for you! Stick with it, the longer you go without the easier it becomes. I sort of cheated if you can call it that - I saw a hypnotherapist. I still had moments of cravings but they were much more managable IMO. Whatever you do don't buy a pack! If you have to have one the first week when it is super tough, bum one - ONE. A few doctors have told me before that tapering off is as effective as cold turkey but I think we're all different. Never have a pack in your possession again if you are truly trying to quit or you will sabotage yourself. Hang in there, you can do it

I was given a huge jewelry box as a birthday present once, it sounds similar to the one Calia mentioned. It works for me!

I wonder if your priest can contact a parish in Mexico and get the official info? You may be able to get the info or get pointed in the right direction through the archdiocese of Chicago. The most outstanding wine I've had in my life was a Barolo that I cannot remember the name of and I've never seen it again BV wine is consistently good and inexpensive Beaulieu Vineyard Castello di Monsanto makes a great Chianti. (Chianti & pasta w/red sauce...yum!) I love the Pinot Noir by Kynsi Winery here on the central coast. Can you tell I like red wine? (And my favorite champagne is Perrier Jouet like Christi mentioned...mmmmm)

Need Ideas: Reception on 1 Year Anniversary
starchild replied to foxytv's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Ooh that sounds like a fun time and great location to work with. I know time is short....what about making a black and white pineapple monogram with their initials and using it for decor? Maybe pick one color to go with it and use it for runners or candles. Or can you get pics of them these last 2 years and assorted inexpensive frames and use them as table decor with candles? Pineapple leaves can make good decorations as well. Are they catering? I'm thinking individual pineapple upside down cakes would be cute but that sounds like a lot of work! That's all I can think of now but I bet you get great suggestions! -
Is anyone else out there scared about the economy?

It's a sin but I sent her to stay with my parents for the week because they live near the camp. There is nothing wrong with that Maureen! You've got a lot going on and that's effective management IMO. Plus, she gets to spend time with her grandparents and like it or not that's what kids have to do at one time or another. DH & SIL were sent to visit his grandparents out of state for entire summers! -

In doing so they have to produce tons and tons of corn. To produce the corn like they need to, they need a lot of fertilizer. The fertilizer nationwide is being shipped to the midwest for the corn. In turn it makes the fertilizer hard to get. So, the farmers that were use to paying 125 a ton for fertilizer are now having to pay 500 a ton for it. A lot of farmers CAN'T do that. So, they are either getting out of the farming business or paying it and increasing their prices to cover the cost of it. So, after we factor in the increase in the farmers expense and the increase in fuel to get the produce where it needs to go, that explains the super high prices. If you notice meat is also going up. The same principles apply. The farmer needs fertilzer for hay, it's so high they either have to pay it or supplement with feed. Well, feed is made with wheat and corn and soy beans. All of which have skyrocketed. I understand the reason for making ethanol, but really it is what started this whole mess. Very interesting! We dropped down to one car, taxes keep going up but our home value keeps going down, gas prices are crazy high and of course grocery shopping is much more expensive as well. But for now we are still making it each month and just hope that we are able to continue to, to see things turn around for the better. I agree, there really is no safe job. Look how many people on BDW have mentioned being recently laid off when they thought their jobs were secure. Things aren't as bad as they could be but happy days are not here again...yet -

I'm happy to still have a job right now, and I will be glad once the wedding is over since I won't be stressing out about trying to save money for that when I am spending so much more on everyday things like gas and groceries. I haven't noticed the flour increase but I'll check it out next time I go to the store. That's crazy!! I feel for you guys with weddings this year and next because if it's tough for you right now it probably is for your guests too -

It's definitely crazy out there, and even crazier if you follow the news (people saying there is no recession, people saying hold on to your hats there is a recession). As for our jobs, they are secure but that's what everyone says until they find out they are not! Things can change fast sometimes, we're just glad to be employed now, you know? I don't have a mortgage so that stuff isn't a factor for us. I'll admit the gas doesn't phase me because I don't drive far, and if I did paying 15 cents more a gallon this week than last isn't noticable. I guess the key is as long as its in small increments. If it was going up $3/gallon per week I may complain. Here's what made me notice things aren't right - tomatoes at Von's (grocery chain) are $4 a pound. Not the organic ones but your average tomato. Roma tomatoes which are notoriously cheaper are $2.50/lb - that's crazy expensive for romas! It's still affordable but at twice the price virtually overnight it made me stand up and notice! I'm not sure if it's the awful drought California is going through that is raising prices, or if it's the price of gas to get this stuff from central CA down here, or both. Is produce going up in other parts of the country? -

Great gifts! And 3 Jennifers and a Jenna? I don't think I've known 3 Jennifers my whole life lol I had 2 Michelle's and that was confusing enough...luckily one goes by Chelle so it worked. The Jennifers must go by nicknames, right? -
