My Wedding Animal Sitter Just Bailed :(
starchild replied to Davematthews16's topic in Random Thoughts
That stinks but I agree she gave you plenty of notice. We almost left ours with someone but decided at the last minute to board her at her Vet's kennel and thank goodness we did. Not to scare you but I tell this to anyone who will listen, wherever you leave your pet(s) be sure the caretakers are attentive and will be there/be able to notice if anything is wrong! About 2 hours before I was to walk down the aisle in Mexico the Vet calls on the cell and says they thought something was wrong and checked to find out our dog ruptured an anal gland and is probably in a lot of pain. I gave permission to go in and fix it (and cried of course, we were off to Jamaica next and wouldn't see her for another 10 days). If she was at the house we were going to leave her at, the person may not have noticed until she was really in pain. That's my 2 cents, make sure she's in a place with vets/techs/people who own animals and won't hesitate to act if they suspect a problem -
It's funny because for us in our "real" life we are the same as you - we throw BBQ's and you can bring your cousins and your cousins' cousins and the more the merrier. With our wedding we got really particular, I think because we felt it was such an intimate moment that we only wanted our strongest supporters around us. We had also been together many years at the time of our marriage so we had a clear idea of who had been instrumental in our lives and wanted to share it with those people, not people that mainly came for the party/vacation. I don't know if that makes sense but basically we didn't think of the wedding as a party like we would any other event, so we were more guarded. Oh, and I don't think you guys are weird, it's just a different approach

Or maybe it is because I wasn't allowed to have "bad" stuff growing up, so everything was a treat! LOL I love Orange Julius too...mmm Someone was telling me that back in the day they used to crack fresh egg whites into it to give it the froth, and that now they use a powder mix. Maybe that's it? I haven't had one in awhile but I used to love them Seriously, my friend's mom across the street would make Velveeta or Rice-a-Roni and I thought it was the greatest thing! My Nana lived with us so she made everything! Even crackers! Oh I hear you on this! I used to be like the kid in the Stovetop Stuffing commercials - your mom is making Stovetop? I'm staying for dinner LOL We never got that stuff in my house, or Velveeta, or Rice-a-Roni, or Cheetos, or Fruit Loops, I cold go on and on. My parents were like your nana except for once and awhile I would get something "cool" as a treat. When DH and I moved in together I was so excited to buy Stovetop at the store and make it, and he was like "what's the big deal?" because he always had that growing up..lol It was a big moment for me! Does anyone remeber Fruzen Glagge Ice Cream? It really was the best stuff ever! They got sued by Haggen Daas, though they were both American companies, and it put them under. It was super creamy, fatty, yummy goodness! Yes!! I never knew what happened to it but it really was good. Oh, and I was also infatuated with Crystal Pepsi. And Cherry 7-up. Remeber the comercials that were all black and white except the pink soda... Crystal Pepsi was a total fad but I thought it was the coolest drink ever! Well, that and Ecto Cooler by Hi-C (another discontinued drink)! Good ones!

I used to have one from 1yr+ ago, I'll see if I saved it. There is the dinner menu on their website but you've probably seen that: Dinner It is sort of Asian-Mexican fusion which wasn't what we wanted either, although I'm sure it's good. Nicole recommended El Arrayan, have you contacted them? We were close to having ours at Los Burros Bar, the prices were cheap and it was on the sand (literally!) but we wanted to get away from the beach so we switched it up.

They aren't Jello brand with the cool Bill Cosby association but some other brand makes pudding pops. I used to love love love the old school ones too! ETA: found them, but they don't tase identical and they may not sell them everywhere but they do here

lol Morgan, I know! I don't remember that pizza but it sounds yummy! Usually when they make things new and improved they just don't cut it anymore. When you said breakfast it reminded me of cereals that are no longer. I didn't get these because my parents didn't buy sugary (read:good) cereals but I used to tear them up at my friends' houses! Remember Ghostbusters, Smurfberry Crunch, and Crispy Critters (scary commercial!)? We wanted to do it on my parents' anniversary date but that was taken so we did the next available Saturday a week later.

I miss Magic Middles! Who remembers these cookies? It was shortbread filled with chocolate - yum! They were so darn delicious and I don't know why they were taken off the market YouTube - 1989 Keebler Magic Middles I also miss McDonald's deep fried apple pies! (and cherry too!) Sure the filling was hot as lava and could burn the taste buds clear off of your tongue, but that was part of the experience. The baked pies they now serve are lame in comparison!

how can it be so hard to find a pair of sneakers??

They have good selection of styles and sizes, you can search by the sizes you mentioned and they have all kinds of Nikes. Good luck!! Reception Tables - Floor Plan

We had a somewhat large wedding party and I felt like you, didn't want their dates sitting closer to us than our family, but we didn't want them separated. We actually did a "T" shape - a head table for 2 and one long table - and let people choose their own seats. Go with what you really want but don't stress too much over it, they'll probably only be sitting to eat and then up dancing/mingling the rest of the time -

I like the U shape with people sitting only on the outside. I think that looks cool and with a group your size would work well. -
