I had my shower on Sunday
starchild replied to MsShelley's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Cool shower! Your wedding is coming up so fast...and your niece is precious -
3 pound loss for my husband and myself...we've made a huge effort this week to get up and active and cut out junk, so if we keep this up I am hopeful that we can make a big change Even if you didn't see a loss this week or if you gained, hang in there guys, it will happen. Jacilynda I'm glad your little girl is doing better

Thank you for remembering and sharing

There is one across from my job but it was too hot to wait in the long line. Free is good though!

I think tylersgirl explained it pretty well. Our ahr had more people than our wedding because it included people who couldn't make the trip for one reason or another. We wanted it low-key so it was pretty inexpensive, taco stand, drinks, and music in the backyard...and it was perfect for us. Personally I wouldn't spend that much on an ahr but I agree, to each their own

Anyone ever had a palm reading or other "psychic" stuff??
starchild replied to KristinaM's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
It can be very insightful and depending on what kind of medium you have, you can even communicate with people who have passed away. (mine does that with stunning accuracy, it's very spiritual) What blushingbride said is important, people should not base their whole lives on it. In fact the lady I use won't do readings any more than 2x a year for her clients because she doesn't want you to feel like you need her info to live (otherwise I would call her everytime I lost my keys or something haha). But that's another way to tell someone who just wants your money from someone genuine Let us know how your predictions turn out! -

starchild replied to KristinaM's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
I have a lady who does readings for me 1-2 times a year. It is always right on and I totally believe in this stuff. Now, there are oodles of shady and untalented people in the business too, so I'd caution everyone to beware of scam artists and not work with anyone who doesn't come personally recommended. (of course if it's $5-$10 at the beach for fun that's okay because if they are wrong so what, you had fun..but anything more be careful) -
Jill makes a good point, that is a possibility. I think that for anyone if you are concerned it is all in the delivery, i.e. saying "no" or "don't" or "you can't" is not cool, but expressing your concerns and leaving it up to them to decide is alright. Men are not going to spend their day quietly reflecting on your love and the life-changing ceremony ahead of them, so even if they stay close they may still be getting plastered at the pool bar while you're off at the spa. Bottom line it comes down to your man and how well you know him, but then again if you know he'll come back drunk or tired and mess up the ceremony that is a whole other issue...

It then tells you a suggested calorie intake and if you follow it, what date you should meet your goal by. I've been tracking my food on it, and it's a great help. You can track exercise as well. Sorry if there's already been a thread about this, i searched and didn't see one. Good to know, thanks for sharing!

I read the article that was posted however I still feel its a unfair advantage. I have worked out with men whether it be my FI, brother, or a friend and they ALWAYs kicked my butt. We both watched what we ate and worked out but at the end of the day they have a bigger loss than I. I have nothing against men but my personal feelings we are all not just trying to get healthier. I know a handful of us women could use the pot for what will be alterations on dresses since we are loosing weight . So did you ever watch the show? I am still curious how they handled this issue because I think their pot was a lot bigger than ours so if this is a valid concern it must have been addressed, no? As for the money, the odds of you winning it are stacked against you, as they are for me and everyone in this. Whether the men get taken out or not, I would encourage you to focus on the losing weight/gaining health thing that way if you win the money it is a total bonus rather than a let down if you don't.

Hey guys, thanks for voicing your concerns. There are mostly women here but it was never said that men were excluded. I've never watched the BL show, how do they deal with this issue? I am sort of bummed that it is such a downer because I thought we are doing this to get ourselves active and healthy. All but one of us are going to lose out on the money anyway, whether to a woman or man, kwim? There are a lot of variables that could give someone an advantage (like having personal trainer or attending boot camp for example) so I looked at the prize as a possible reward but for me it is about doing my best and being accountable to someone. Having that said, my husband is one of the men who joined and he said if it ends up causing drama he will play along for free, no worries. I'm here to lose weight regardless of if he is in or not BTW I googled it and the first thing that came up was this article: Why Men Lose Faster than Women

Yari and I married at the same place so I also was out on the wedding day at 8am and didn't talk to him or see him until the ceremony around 6pm. We had to depend on them getting on a boat to the ceremony and I didn't worry either, I was relaxing myself. If that is what he needs to unwind/prep let him, so long as you know he is responsible enough to not get wasted and mess things up, you will both be fine
